  1. CDI Display Document Attributes

The "CDI Display Document Attributes" functionality in Primo allows preprints to be labelled. There is an ongoing problem in Summon where aggregators and publishers use the same electronic collections but provide a different level of access. Especially with preprints - which look like broken links because aggregators dont provide them but they are included in results because publishers do.

This functionality could identify preprints so users would have a better idea of why they can't access them.

Can this functionality please be made available to Summon users?

  2. Provide ability to make a link to Advanced Search with pre-selected facets

I would like to be able to provide a URL to the advanced search page and have the English language facet preselected.

  3. hamburger

Currently, our user can change language in the hamburgermenu of Summon.
We like to have a flag for each language instead of the choice in the hamburgermenu.

  4. Allow hyperlinks in the Custom Text feature of the Detail Page

It would be great to be able to link to a contact form (or other webpage) from text in the Custom Text that can be added to the Detail Page in Summon.

  5. Video spotlight treatment

A rollup of video content, with any video results removed from the main results set and presented in a spotlight. The spotlight would present the top 3 to 5 results with thumbnails and descriptions, with a "more" link to see all video results.

  6. Show unreceived orders in Summon

At the moment, items ordered in Alma are not displayed in Summon until they have been received by the library. We need lecturers and students to be able to follow the progress of requests they have made or check whether we have already ordered a book before requesting it.

Alma sends to Summon the following Availability information:
The status field ( AVA subfield code e) is used to display availability in Summon:

  7. Label Kind of Open Access item linked to

Identify the kind of open access version being linked to -- preprint author submitted copy, same-as-published, post-print, etc. While it may not always matter if the open version of a published work is the same as the peer-reviewed, published version, when it does matter, it can be critical -- especially in health sciences. But it's also important for novice researchers to understand what is "almost published" and what was actually reviewed and published.

  8. Add sorting functionality to the Summon Course Reserves Citation List Display

When Alma Course Reserves lists are displayed in Summon, there does not appear to be any order to the citations listed, making it very hard for patrons to find the citation they are looking for in that course. We would like to see the option added to determine the default sort of the display (alphabetical by title, alphabetical by author, date added, etc) AND the ability for users to resort the list themselves if the default sorting doesn't suit their needs.

  9. Show DVD covers in search results

Summon should show DVD covers as well as book covers in search results.

Syndetics (and other content providers) have DVD content and covers available but this does not display in Summon. Summon should send EAN and UPC numbers to Syndetics as well as ISBNs to enhance the search results with DVD information.

  10. Add case studies as content type

It would be great if "case studies" to be added as a content type, the same way it's an option on CINAHL and some other Ebsco products. Our nursing and allied health students often have assignments that specifically require them to use case studies, and it's difficult to narrow those down using Summon.

  11. resizeable Logo in Saved Search Email

It would be great if the email sent when a user clicks on the Saved Search option used a size appropriate logo.
At present it looks like it uses the largest logo imaginable and makes the whole thing look like it was made in GCSE computing class. Its not very professional looking.
At least a Saved Searches email logo option in the Summon admin would be a start.

  12. Add "Available physical items only" facet

Our library wish to make use of the RSS function to list out the latest available items for loan in LibGuide. However it comes with problem which the items in order (i.e. unavailable) are on the top of list. It would be better if the "Available physical items only" facet is available for filtering.

  13. removing the red “-1” Content Type exclusion indicator

suggest removing the red “-1” Content Type exclusion indicator. We feel it comes across to users like a warning or error – an alert that is negative in nature. The navy “Selected” box at the top of the facet pane is a much friendlier and more useful indicator, and the exclusions are well marked in the Content type list itself, so the red “-1” indicator feels redundant and potentially misleading. If removing it isn't possible or palatable, please allow it to be disabled in the Summon admin module.

  15. Customise New Search button

We would like to be able to customise the url of the 'New Search' button, so that it links to our own Library Search home page, with embedded Summon search, rather then the default Summon instance.

Currently, we only have the option to use the Home link, via the institutional logo, to link back to our Library Search home page, which is not accepted practice, as this should link to the institution's home page.

We can currenetly use the 'Custom Link' option, but this is not user-friendly, as the link appears in the banner (and hamburger menu), rather than next…

  16. About customizing the contents of the simple record displayed at the top of the Summon over Alma service page.

Currently, the contents of the brief record displayed at the top of the Summon over Alma Service Page are not customizable. We would like to be able to define this display freely, as in Primo VE.

For example, in addition to the fields currently displayed, we would like to add Record type, Statement of responsibility (author from 245 $c), Publisher name and place, Series name and number, etc.

Example (parts in brackets are not displayed in current service page)

    [BOOK]
    Winnie-the-Pooh[ / A.A. Milne ; with decorations by Ernest H. Shepard ]
    Milne, A. A. 1882-1956 Alan Alexander; Shepard, Ernest…

  17. Summon over Alma: Change Alma Service Page UI language by Summon UI language

For Summon over Alma clients, Summon is the only OPAC for patrons. At present, only 1 direct link rule can be set. The link rule to Alma Service Page has language parameter, but it cannot be set by Summon UI language differently from Primo. We'd like to request that Summon has the feature to set multiple languages parameters by Summon UI language. Currently, from Summon English page results, Alma service page displays Japanese UI. This is inconvenient for English patrons.

  18. Journal information appearing condensed in Summon (spacing is needed)

The journal information that shows on our Bib records appears condensed in Summon. It would be helpful to have the information separated with a blank line and the word "location" in bold. If bolding can not be done, a new line between the locations would be very helpful.

  19. How Cursor IDE Handles Large Codebases: Performance Insights

When working on a large codebase, the biggest challenge is usually maintaining speed—both in navigation and development workflow. That’s where Cursor IDE has been surprising a lot of developers. Unlike many traditional editors that start to feel sluggish once your project grows beyond a certain size, Cursor IDE takes a more AI-assisted approach to handling code structure, which noticeably improves the experience.

One of the most appreciated aspects is how quickly Cursor IDE indexes files. Even with thousands of modules, the search and “jump to definition” features remain responsive. The AI-powered understanding of code allows Cursor to create a sort…
