How can we improve campusM?

  1. Ring fence banners in App Builder

    With the move of banners from a separate function in App Manager into App Builder this now poses a challenge to us.

    Previously we could secure access to non administrator users allowing them to create banners for displaying to users.

    Now to give those users access to maintain banners we have to give them admin access exposing the entirety of App Builder and the risk that poses to the app configuration as all the other functionality App Builder provides will be added to those users by default when they need to just to maintain banners.

  2. Add Delivered-Based Engagement Metrics

    At present, engagement rates are calculated using the number of notifications sent, rather than the number successfully delivered. This can produce misleading open rates, particularly where notifications are never received because, for example, the app has been uninstalled or the device is offline.

    It would be valuable to introduce delivery metrics alongside the existing analytics, allowing institutions to report on:

    Notifications sent
    Notifications successfully delivered
    Notifications opened
    Open rate based on delivered notifications rather than total sent

  3. Improve Notification Analytics with Audience Breakdown and Notification IDs

    We're finding the current notification analytics difficult to interpret when a single notification is sent to multiple audience groups (e.g. students, staff and other users). The results are aggregated into a single dataset, making it impossible to understand how each audience has engaged.

    It would be valuable if analytics could:

    Break performance down by recipient group (e.g. Students, Staff, Other), rather than only showing combined figures.
    Include a Notification ID within the analytics export. This would allow institutions to map analytics back to the original notification, making reporting and analysis much easier.

  4. Attendance UI Improvements

    This ticket was created to merge several different ideas into one, as they all were about improving the UI of the Attendance screens:

    1. Absence button appears in bright red, even after customers have set other colours for student logged absence and lecturer logged absence.

    2. Increasing the size of the one-time check-in code font when displayed to lecturers.

    3. Ability to have a message or animation display to student end users once they have successfully checked-in to all events on a given day.

  5. Open alert content directly from notification

    Currently, tapping a notification opens the Alerts page rather than the specific alert, requiring users to find the alert and click it again to read it. This adds friction and may reduce actual alert reads.

    Suggestion: Configure notifications to link directly to the alert content to improve user experience and engagement.

  6. Enhance deep-linking in app to work with product integrations

    The November 2025 release introduced deep linking within the app. However, this does not extend to product integrations such as the self-checkout Alma integration.

    Use case: On the Library shelves, we have signage inviting students and staff to use the app to scan book barcodes for borrowing. At present, we can only provide a QR code with instructions for downloading the app, and then tell them to look for the relevant tile.

  7. Support Ellucian Web API Version 2.0+

    Ellucian is no longer supporting Colleague Web API version 1 as of 6/26/2025 as stated here: https://elluciansupport.service-now.com/customer_center?id=community_Blog&sys_id=d6c7848183126a10926912d0deaad33e

    CampusM delivered integrations relying on Colleague Web API connections is not functioning correctly on Colleague Web API version 2.0+. The integrations having this issue includes Timetable and Holds. After speaking with the ExLibris support team, there is currently no plan to support version 2, however we need to have the integration updated for security purposes. Please add support to Colleague Web API version 2.0+

  8. Product Integration: List - Improvements

    It would be useful if the List Product Integration offered the following features:

    • The ability to present an External URL AND a Description in a list - At present, you can only show one or the other. This would allow us to add a brief summary of the purpose of the URL (in the ‘opened’ list view), supporting the Search feature and user navigation.

    • The ability to configure platform specific overrides when applying an External URL to a list - As offered in App Builder for individual Menu Options, we may wish Mobile/Web users to open different locations,…

  9. Search Term Analytics

    We would like to be able to extract a monthly report of the search terms entered by users in the built-in search feature.

    This would help support platform development, allowing us to ensure that the key things being searched for are more immediately available/visible to users, improving their experience and ease of access to information/features.

  10. Ability to create dynamic or nested roles

    As we look to offer features that serve more focused user groups we find that the creation and management of roles gets more and more complex.

    Rather than make an existing role nested (e.g. campus > year of study), we have to create multiple variations (e.g. campus + year one, campus +year two, campus + year three etc). This can lead to a lot of roles and makes it very difficult to manage - if we were to set up roles for each year of study, across 6 colleges, 3 types of study and 4 campuses in the current structure…
