  1. Closed Caption capabilities

We are creating MP4 deliverables with soft embedded 'Closed captioning'. In addition, we have the WebVTT file used to create the 'closed captioning'.

We would like the OOB Videojs to allow customers to switch on/off closed captioning. At the moment this capability is not present in the OOB viewer. This support is available for VideoJS - https://github.com/videojs/video.js/blob/master/docs/guides/text-tracks.md. This functionality needs to be added as an enhancement to the VideoJS player and any new OOB Video players

This is also accessibility issue that we need to address

  2. exportIE() WebAPI / file permissions of exported IEs

At SLUB, we currently use the IE export feature via API. The webservice is called using an export path that points to an NFS share, which itself is shared between the Rosetta cluster and the Submission Application servers that run ingest and access tasks. One of those tasks is to extract exported IE .tars, restructure them to resemble their original structure as provided by the producer, provide the result to the producer and (this is key) remove the exported .tar, as it is no longer needed. Now, whenever Rosetta exports an IE, the resulting .tar archive is created on that…

  3. IIIF Universal Viewer - Searchable PDF

For searchable PDFs would like the viewer to have similar features as the viewer deployed by the British Library- http://access.bl.uk/item/viewer/ark:/81055/vdc_00000004216E#?c=0&m=0&s=0&cv=0&xywh=-2194%2C-163%2C6568%2C3244

Would like the search bar for be available and indication where the search word if located in the PDF

Download options would be driven by Entity Type

  4. Pass hostname and port into publishing XSL

Currently the XSLs in "Administration" -> "Configuration files" -> "XSL Transforms" -> "Publishing" require hardcoded hostnames and ports (because hostnames and ports are required by links going out by OAI-PMH). This requirement means that we can't use the same XSL on both the STAGING and PROD but need to make changes between the two.

Hostname and port should be passed in as parameters to the XSL, so that these don't need to be changed.

  6. IIIF Universal Viewer - download options - mixed content

Looking at using the IIIF viewer for digitised manuscripts. Diaries and letters.
For this type of material we would like to create
    1. multi-page tif (master)
    2. multipage pdf (delivery)
    3. thumbnail
    4. transcript
When this material is displayed in the viewer we will by default like to display the multipage pdf.
For the download options we would like the ability for customers to
    1. download the multipage pdf
    2. download the current page(s) being displayed (PDF or TIF options)
    3. full transcript

  7. IIIF Universal Viewer - Print

Require the option to allow ‘Print’ from the viewer.

Would like to configure the at least the following information as part of the ‘Print’ option

    1. Descriptive metadata
    2. Handle / PI identifier

For images would like to print the single image to fit across the page – this is relevant if printing in portrait or landscape mode
Allow image to scale according to paper size selected

  8. IIIF Universal Viewer - Share Options

Would like to configure the ‘Share’ option.
At this stage the only share options are
    1. Embed
    2. URL link
Would like to configure the ‘Share’ option to allow adding the following additional social media options
    1. Facebook
    2. Twitter
    3. LinkedIn
    4. Various citation options such as RefWorks

As part of the share option we would like to configure what information is passed across. For example, for Twitter, SLQ would like to pass
    1. Handle/PI information
    2. Title
    3. Image
    4. Any appropriate hashtags

  9. IIIF Universal Viewer - Download Options - filename

When selecting the download option would like to be able to configure the download file name.
Currently the file name is ‘default.jpg’
Would like to configure the download so that the download file name can use one of the following options
    1. <dc:title> (maybe the first 30 characters); or
    2. <internalIdentifierValue>
SLQ would prefer the <dc:title> option

now on IE viewer users/librarians have to print every single image files under one IE. I hope there is a print all/in part function.

  11. IIIF Universal Viewer - email Options

Require the option to allow ‘email’ from the viewer.

Would like to configure the at least following information as part of the ‘email’ option

    1. Descriptive metadata
    2. Handle / PI identifier
    3. URL to image

    Allow the customer to enter
    1. Subject
    2. To email address
    3. Their own email address
It may be useful to include a ‘captcha’ block to prevent misuse of this function.

  12. IIIF Universal Viewer - Force Download

When selecting a JPG file to download the following occurs
    1. the file is downloaded
    2. the file is then automatically rendered in the browser
    3. the customer needs to ‘right mouse’ click and download from the browser.
The problem is that the download file is 600dpi but when it is rendered in the browser the browser resets the dpi to 96dpi.
Would prefer the option to ‘force browser to download image files’

  14. Wasted space in General IE Viewer

I've noticed that there is a lot of repeated information at the top of the General IE Viewer that pushes the meat of the viewer - the image or media content - down. It would be great to have this redesigned so that each of the options and information is not repeated. See the attached image or go to http://hdl.handle.net/10020/2004r10/job5251 to see an example.

  15. Best fit mode for the JWPlayer in IE viewer

With the new IE viewer in version 5.4 the JWPlayer (for video and audio) does not have a best fit parameter meaning that the right-hand side of the player is hidden under the metadata pane. The only way to see the whole player is to close the metadata pane manually or zoom out in your browser. We would like to see a “best fit” parameter added to the JWPlayer in Rosetta so that the behavior would match the jpeg viewer (which fits itself to the frame by default).

    Thanks,

  16. Make IE Viewer share button configurable

The share button in the IE Viewer currently always shows the browser URL. Often the IE has an OID or some persistent URL that is preferred over the transient viewer URL. Rosetta should allow the URL that is displayed to be configurable. Preferably with an XSLT per institution similar to the IE metadata XSLT.

It is also desirable to allow for more than 1 URL in the share window. That would allow to add URLs for standalone vs embedded viewers, thumbnail view, CMS metadata view, etc.

  17. OCR plugin that makes full text available to search

To create a full text searching capability, we are proposing a plugin that performs OCR on the files in Rosetta, and then makes that text output available via an API or other publishing mechanism, that can be read and indexed by an external CMS.

  18. Allow full-text searching of all objects in an IE, not just one at a time.

There is a way to have Primo index the full text of PDFs that are in Rosetta which can help a user find which Rosetta IE has a document containing their term/phrase but then once the user clicks through to the Rosetta viewer there is no way for the user to know where their search term appears. Having the search term come through to the viewer would be great, but that would only work when there are a few PDFs. For IEs that contain dozens of PDFs the user would have to open each one and search for their term.…

  20. View preservation history of IE

posted on behalf of Amy Joseph, NLNZ

As a researcher, I want to be able to understand the history of an IE including preservation actions.

As an admin, I want to be able to configure the system to display versions of a representation by EventType, so that a user can navigate between different versions of a preservation master or other rep
