  1. The ability to customized Worldcat link in Worldcat search API

It would be great if the worldcat link in the Worldcat search scope (enabled via Worldcat search API) could be customized to allow either 1. a proxy prefix or 2. for replacement with a worldcat discovery link.

We're looking into this because when we were on campus, the link was able to - via IP recognition - offer users the option of going to our Worldcat Discovery instance, which brings together worldcat records with our services (i.e. ILL) We would like to somehow replicate that experience now that our services have all gone remote.

    Sample record: https://umbrella.lib.umb.edu/primo-explore/search?query=any,contains,bear%20extinction&tab=worldcat&search_scope=WorldCat&vid=01MA_UMB&offset=0&pcAvailability=true

    Thank you!

  2. Adding 'preprint' as a new resource type in CDI

Preprints from preprint archives such as arXiv.org are currently shown as 'article' in Primo. While preprints are a wonderful thing for open science, it’s important to maintain a clear distinction between a journal article, which has undergone peer review, and a preprint, which has not. The article is citable, the preprint is generally not. This is something we teach our students, and also something we try inform the general public about.

Many preprints are also never published in journals in the end. Other preprints end up as e.g. book chapters, not articles.

While arXiv (1991) is the oldest and best-known…

  3. Show correct number of renewals in Primo and Aleph

In our testing Aleph, we set to allow unlimited number of renewals.
Item was already renewed for more than 9 times, the number of renewals shown in Aleph client and Primo were both stopped at 9.
We request Aleph and Primo to show the correct number of renewals.

  4. Wrong holdings information for FRBR-grouped books outside of IZ

An institution owns a specific edition of a book, ex:https://bibsys-almaprimo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/primo-explore/fulldisplay?docid=BIBSYS_ILS71566408110002201&context=L&vid=SSHF&search_scope=default_scope&isFrbr=true&tab=alle_bibliotek&lang=no_NO

When extending the search scope to other libraries, they may find other editions of the book, which they don’t own (https://bibsys-almaprimo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/primo-explore/fulldisplay?docid=BIBSYS_ILS71566408110002201&context=L&vid=SSHF&search_scope=blended_scope&isFrbr=true&tab=alle_bibliotek&lang=no_NO ).

The original/owned book's barcode is shown for the other edition(s) as well. This is unfortunate as it is quite confusing (contradictory messages, give the impression the library owns resources it doesn’t), and can lead the user to order the wrong book.

The availability status is correct but the holdings information is not. The ISBN should be used here to prevent tis from happening, instead of the…

  5. We couldn't link a digital object to a reading list from our repository (DSpace).

We found it very interesting that PRIMO could link a digital object from our DSpace repository to a reading list.

Currently, this is only possible if we add the citation to the repository in ALMA and it is generating repeated references (since it collects our DSpace).
It would be desirable that Primo to be able to view citations from reading lists that are not in the Alma repository.

  7. error page for samlLogin internal server errors

Currently any SAML error on POST /primo_library/libweb/samlLogin results in internal server error response (HTTP 500) and shows a corrupted paged from the old UI (see attachment)

Please implement a SAML NUI error Page for these types of errors including the SAML Error description which is currently only written into library_server.log files, e.g.:

    2019-09-17 08:36:39,773 ERROR [t-ajp-bio-7701-exec-19] [c-Saml20MessageValidators] [O -(540627545,1652141697,null)] - SAML failure: This reponse samlSessionId does not match ours

  8. Adding of Primo collection to Leganto

Right now, Primo Collection are searchable in Leganto. However, adding the collection to Leganto is not supported.

The Primo collection link added to Leganto will not go into the exact collection, it goes to a list of all collection instead.

  9. Display Copy ID field in Get It

Alma has a Copy ID field but it does not display in Primo in the Get It section. This value should display. It does not have to be in its own column, it could be concatenated with a label of "Copy" and show in the Description column. This was possible in the Aleph/Primo configuration.

  11. Shibboleth authentication based patron update

It would be useful to be able to utilise Alma’s patron data update (via ‘Update User Details’ RestAPI) using attributes released in the federated authentication process and are in accordance with EduPerson -schema (Shibboleth/SAML2).

  12. Add feature to Primo services page to help users outside Primo find full text from PCI direct link collections

The Alma link resolver only returns results from the Alma repository, so it would be useful to add a feature to the Primo services page that would pull in results from Primo Central direct link collections too. Perhaps the feature could show a search results preview from the library’s Primo and format it like the bx service in an orderly side panel. Such a change would encourage users to search the library’s Primo before they resort to an ILL request or give up on looking for the item. Some full text content is exclusively available through PCI direct link collections,…

  13. Adding Accession Number for EBSCO results to the PCI

Would be useful to add the EBSCO Accession Numbers to PCI records and sending these Accession Numbers in the OpenURL from Primo to Alma, so that Alma could use them to build direct links to EBSCOhost for problematic linking issues.

  15. Make it possible to remove the 'until' date in OAI request for all pipes

Each time a pipe harvesting using OAI method is run, the OAI request set the 'until' parameter to the time the pipe is run. Here is an example of such OAI request: https://ourjournals.ac.nz/index.php/LPR/oai?verb=ListRecords&metadataPrefix=oai_dc&from=2018-11-05T01:44:31Z&until=2018-12-01T22:40:07Z When the target OAI feeds contain records do not have a date stamp, it will be automatically filled with the date/time the record is accessed by the OAI harvester. This means that all these records without a date stamp will never be harvested into Primo as they will be always have a later date stamp than the 'until' parameter. We would like to see an option to…

  16. Fix the Zotero translator problem (September 2018)

Primo and the Zotero translator have stopped playing nicely together ( September 2018 - see https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/316205/#Comment_316205 ).

I cannot download metadata from my institution (University of York) or British Library (an important source!).

This would be very frustrating at any time but at the start of the academic year it makes it very difficult for new students.

I am aware that there is an existing 'idea' in this list "Make zotero work with Primo" but that originates from September 2017 and is closed.

    Many thanks

  18. Add 562 data from holding record to Primo GetIt tab

Additional Holdings Information can be displayed in Primo GetIt tab, but only some fields of holding record can be used : 867-868-541-561-563-852t.
We would like to have also 562 holding field, which permit us to give a Copy and Version Identification Note for an item. (Subfields $a $b $c would be fine.)

  20. Export from SFX thru MARCIt and pipe up to Primo without the need to load SFX content into Catalog by Creating Normalization Rules

Instead of having to: load MARCIt-enhanced SFX e-records into our Library catalog every month, and then export them from our catalog up to Primo...

It would be more streamlined to have them: export from SFX > thru MARCIt (for extra indexing) > and then straight up to Primo where they'd be normalized and searchable.

This would reduce support time, and our catalog record load, while still having all our content indexed and searchable in Primo.
