Add an option to "expand my results" from the "no records found" page
Currently the "no records found" page doesn't provide an option to "expand my results". Since the default behavior is to search without that option, a properly formed query for an existing item outside our collections yields the discouraging no results page. The message provides suggestions like "check your spelling." Please provide an option to try the search again with "expand my results". Ideally, Primo would know ahead of time if such an expansion would yield results and would only offer it if that was the case.

Add a true "exact" search to Advanced search type
The available search types do not include a true "exact" search, where the results inlcude the query term(s) and only the query term(s). This type of search is very useful for one-word queries, especially when it is a common word. Using "begins with" in these situations can still result in dozens of results. We can construct a search, but it's not something the average user would know how to do, e.g.:
Title begins with intervention
NOT
Title begins with intervention? This is a convoluted construction, and we'd prefer a true "is exactly" search type.
580 votesThe option to perform a search with a new "Equals exact phrase" operator will be available in May 2023 release in Primo VE.
Best regards,
Yael.

Incorporate e-resources in the Virtual Browse tab
We would very much like the option to have the Virtual Browse carousel interfile e- and print resources. Currently the carousel only includes print resources.
Curtin University (http://catalogue.curtin.edu.au/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do) seem to have achieved this (see the 'Further Reading' tab under the search results) and you can clearly identify which are online and which are print resources.
27 votesThank you for this ideas . This is now included with Primo VE December release.

Institutions are able to choose how a record is selected as the record to appear in the results list as part of the frbr process
Where there are different editions of a work available, Primo groups these and uses the record with the richest metadata to display as the top record in the results list. Often this is not the most recent edition of the work. This can be misleading for users who believe the edition appearing in the results list to be the latest edition and so seek this out. For us, this has meant requests for items held on off-campus stores have been requested rather than a more recent edition held on the open stacks. I would like to suggest, therefore, that institutions…
176 votesYou can now define the preferred record displayed for FRBR to be the recent edition – this is coming with Primo November 2020 release and already released for Primo VE in Q2 2020, as part of NERS 6230 – Enable option to favour latest edition of bibliographic work to top the FRBR group.

Ability to choose more granular subject links and not just the entire string, as in: "Comic books, strips, etc -- Social aspects -- United"
Ability to choose a section of a subject links and not just the entire string. E.g. "Comic books, strips, etc -- Social aspects -- United States" can only be selected as a whole, but not as individual parts, such as "Comic books, strips, etc."
81 votesThank you for this suggestion. This is now part of Primo November release, read more “|Support Display of Subject Chains in Full Display (New UI Only)” https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Release_Notes/2019/001Primo_2019_Release_Notes

Remove "Add to e Shelf" from copied text
Users often copy and paste titles of works from Primo brief search results, to use in other searches or documents. The user selects the hyperlinked title text and copies. When it is pasted, the phrase "Add to e Shelf" is added in front of the title, even though it doesn't appear in the brief search results. This is very confusing to patrons, who frequently don't notice this sneaky addition to their copied text and wonder why their new search is "not found". We would love to see this phrase removed from the copied text.

Display of earlier editions in 'View x versions' feature instead of latest ones
Unfortunately, and I've noticed this with other titles in Primo, e.g. Begg Economics, the latest editions of titles are hidden in the 'View x versions' area of Primo while the earliest edition is displayed in the search results. It would be better perhaps if the latest edition displayed with the option to view earlier editions under the 'View x versions' feature.
63 votesThank you for this suggestion, this was released in Primo VE May release and planned as part Primo August 2020 release.

Offer library-controlled "Looking for...?" suggestions
When a user is searching for a common title but not necessarily easily found, like "Wall Street Journal," we want to offer a highlighted link, "Looking for the Wall Street Journal" that goes to the destination of our choice, which in this case would be the WSJ online database. We have many records for WSJ different editions etc. and it can be challenging for the user to find the "primary" one.
72 votesThank you for this great idea. we are pleased to announce that this functionality is implemented in Primo as part of the Resource Recommender.
Recently we have enhanced it: allowing suggested resources to be returned through the enrichment of searchable tags by adding synonyms, inflections and more. Please refer to knowledge center for more information
