On the Monitor Request page order the owning library and pick up location facets by A-Z
We would like the libraries listed in the Owner and Pick up Location facets in the Resource Request Monitoring page to be ordered by A-Z as we have a long list of libraries and this would make it easier to scan the list and find them. The Owner and Pick up Location are ordered by A-Z in the Borrowing Requests page already and this is much easier for us.
52 votesAs of teh January 2019 release, the values of the pickup location and owning library facets are sorted alphabetically on the Requests Monitoring page.

Direct link access from a citation to a reading list
User Story/Case
A streamlined workflow is required to provide direct access to reading lists from a citation. The current workflow is overly complicated and requires to much clicking.
Description
When digitised files are ready to be be attached to a reading list, staff must first access the relevant citation by navigating to Alma > Fulfilment > Course Reserves > Citations, then find the citation, attach the file and mark the citation as ‘Completed'.The next step in the workflow is to access the Reading list which requires staff to navigate to Alma > Fulfilment > Course Reserves > Reading List…

Enhance conditions in General Electronic Services based on holdings/locations
Currently in a general electronic service we can create conditions based on limited bibliographic metadata via openurl format.
This is a request to enhance conditions in General Electronic Services further to allow conditions based on holdings/locations/items.
We want to be able to display specific retrieval services only for records that have a specific relevant location.77 votesThank you for your idea,
The functionality is now available as of the March release:
Library and location parameters are now available to be added to the availability rules for item and title level general electronic services.

No items available for request due to policy- Show policy violated
When a request fails, an error message reads: "No items available for request due to policy." It would be very helpful if the error message included which policy prevents the request. With that information, I can easily tell the patron what prevents the request or fix a policy problem. Right now, I have to hunt the problem down in the fulfillment and/or configuration modules.

I'm happy to announce it has been implemented as part of the February 2026 Alma release.

Historical Requests in the Resource Request Monitor : search by patron barcode
In the Resource Request Monitor, we cannot search by patron barcode.
It's easier for us to search a user by his patron barcode as by name. User's name is not a unique identifier.
Is it possible to add this option in the drop down menu?
Thanks,
Charlotte.1 voteAs of November release when searching historical requests in the Resource Request Monitor, it is now possible to search by the patron’s primary identifier within the Identifier search scope

Add location in the customize field of the list of loans.
When looking at the list of loans of the particular patron Alma permit to customize certain fields, but it does not allow choose location as an alternative. At our library, the location determines the group of patron to whom the items can be loaned. We propose to add the location to the list of alternatives from whose to choose. So we will can see the location in the list of loans of the patron. / Al mirar la lista de préstamos del usuario particular, Alma permite personalizar ciertos campos, pero no permite elegir la ubicación como alternativa. Change order of availability in "Get it" tab
We would like the order of availability in the "Get it" tab to be different. Instead of "x copies, x available, x requests" we would prefer "x available, x requests, x copies". The users frequently misunderstand and think that "copies" are available on shelf.
376 votesAs part of the June release it will be possible to: Resequence the existing labels, for example “x available, x requests, x copies”.
Add a descriptive text before, after or between each one of the labels, for example “x available, resources, x requests, x copies”.
Remove labels which are not needed, for example "x available, x copies”

Fulfillment - temporary note on a loan
Fullfilment - temporary note on a loan
In our library system in Siena we have also public libraries (Institution REDO)
These libraries host classes to "introduce" young students to the libraries and books. When we were in Aleph these libraries created a card from the class (let's say second class of Green School) and they made loans on this card.
They used the temporary note in order to write the name of the children that took the book.So they printed a loan receipt for the teacher where there were the titles, barcodes, date of return and the names of…

Allow to configure the localization of loan status codes on institutional level
Currently it is not possible to configure a localized version of the basic loan status codes (e. g. "recalled" or "normal") on institutional level. Instead there are static translations which are set for all Alma institutions - for example (german) "Zurückgerufen" for "recalled". That specific translation, displayed in the loan list in Primo >> My Account, creates confusion among our users since the correct term in that case should be "Vorgemerkt" ("put on hold").
We need a possibility to configure the localization of loan status codes on institutional level - no matter if in Alma or in the Primo code…

Provide ability to turn off the Related Record functionality for physical items
Provide ability to turn off Related Record functionality for physical items. I would like to be able to decide for each related field in the MARC record - 773, 774, 777, 786, 800, 810, 811, and 830 whether or not Primo will display the related record information for physical items.
There are cases where displaying related record information to the user is more confusing then helpful. 830 series fields, for example, will display "related" records that may not relate at all to a users search, especially if the series is general like: "Brill's studies in intellectual history." I would like…
450 votesNew configuration options are available for the Get It display, these options provide institutions the control of whether or not to present related holdings for patrons using Primo/PrimoVE. A more granular option provides the institutions with the option to present related records only for serials or only for monograph titles.

Add previous user in manage patron services should be optional
This feature should be optional. We have already had a lot of reactions from our staff at the counter that they find it difficult to keep the privacy of the users when working at the counter and patrons are able to see the Alma screen with names of users recently viewed.
See the completed case here:

All items loan and hold requests history
In aleph circulation, items tab, we had an option to see all items history of loans and hold request.
In alma we have to go into each item - action - edit - history, in order to see loan history and there is no option to see the hold requests history. We suggest adding column in the list of items screen with the number of loans / requests or adding a tab in each item with the summary of loans of all items. Although we can retrieve the data thru analytics, not all the librarian can access it and it…156 votesIn the Other Details tab of physical title and all title search results, the following new loan statistics are available:
Number of loans
Number of in house use
Year-to-date loans
Last in house use date

Add an option to turn off prediction of past scanned/searched patrons in Patron Services
When manually entering patron names or primary IDs in patron services (to check against lost item reports, &c), the name/s of previously searched patrons will autopopulate the search field. I end up having to do extra clicks to clear the field and search for the patron I actually want. The times that needing past scanned/searched patrons to be re-searched/scanned is exceedly rare, so the feature is more of an inconvenience than a help. I would love to be able to turn it off.

Hide recent patrons in drop-down menu and make available only upon request.
Hide recent patrons in drop-down menu and make available only upon request. Although it is convenient to be able to access recent patrons' records, exposed names can lead to fulfillment errors (staff works in wrong patron account) and breach of confidentiality.

Placing digitization requests via Primo on holdings without items
Currently, titles with no inventory for their holdings do not appear to provide a title-level Digitization Request option in Primo.
This is a potentially huge defect in the Request functionality as many requests might well specifically be for material in that situation, e.g. older physical journal holdings where there is no item information into Alma but where there is potentially a functional need for the Digitization service. We think that if there is an Physical holding published to Primo, there should always be at least the possibility for the library to offer and configure Patron Digitization requests. This defect has…

Patrons can now place a general digitization request in Primo or Alma for a holdings with no items in the same way that they can place a general hold request. The new option is also available when using the Manage Fulfillment Options for the purpose of fulfilling a resource sharing document delivery request.

Improve how Alma selects libraries for internal requests
We are 1 institution on Alma/Primo, our organisation is NHS Scotland. We have libraries from different NHS regions (or health boards) each linked to a particular campus.
When a patron requests an item on Primo and selects the pick-up location they belong to, Alma checks to see if that particular library can fulfil that request.
Thereafter it will just select randomly from the list of other libraries to fulfil the request.
The issue we have is that a library from the same campus may be able to fulfil that request but Alma may select a library up to 150 miles…

last active date
User profile - Last active date
We would like to have a field in the user profile that shows patron’s last active date, i.e. loan, request or return. This field will be useful when deciding which user profiles to purge.
305 votesYou can now view the last activity date for specific activities in the Last Patron Activity Date field of the User Details Page. The field is display only and will be available for analytics in an upcoming release. Due to privacy concerns, data will only be collected from activation of this new feature onward. If the option is disabled, all data collected in this field will be deleted for all users.

Grace Period only for open days
Now the unit of measurement for grace period is "days". So even if the library closed on weekend, those days are included to "Grace Period". To give fair advantage of grace period, Alma should apply the grace period excluding library closed.
For the detailed scenario as I expected, please refer to the attachment.Thanks.
331 votesHi all,
happy to inform you that starting from the Alma August 2025 release, more granularity was added for setting up grace period policies so that the library can decide whether closed days should be part of the grace period or not. This enables more accurate grace period calculation during library close times.

New letter for hold shelf slips
When a document is placed on hold shelf, a letter is sent to the user, but no letter is printed. Instead, we are supposed to re-use the FulReasourceRequestSlipLetter as a hold shelf slip, but that solution is not very elegant. This generate a lot of extra “action+print slip” manual labor. In the case of self service hold shelves, the hold shelf slip is aimed at the user and should contain very different information than the information needed by library staff to locate the document. Also, to protect users' privacy, we are not allowed to include any information that can identify…

New Letter for Hold Shelf Slips
When enabled, the new Ful Hold Shelf Request Slip Letter (letter code: FulHoldShelfRequestSlipLetter) is printed to the circulation desk printer when the item is placed on the hold shelf, regardless of whether a pick slip was already printed. If printing fails, the item is still placed on the hold shelf but the user receives a warning message that printing failed. This way, it is possible to configure a slip for use for on hold shelf items, that is different than the slip that is used to pick up the item from the shelf.
By default, the letter has the same attributes as the Pickup Print Slip Report Letter, but it can be configured as needed.
The letter is invoked when scanning in an item and placing it on the hold shelf and when selecting the Activate next… -
Requestable by Campus Affiliated Patrons Only
We have an idea to reduce Transit Time: We whish to be able to limit physical items to be requested by campus affiliated patrons only.
This means that e.g. books in a specific collection in a specific library, is only requestable by the patrons affiliated with that specific library.
Explanation:
Our most requested physical items is in the Compulsary Readings Collection. This collection consists of identical titles, and every campus library has this collection. The items are requested a lot, and by patrons on all campuses.
Result: These items fly back and forth between campuses, and spend lot of time…242 votesRequest, loan and booking fulfillment unit rules now have the option to define a rule that applies only to patrons of a given campus to enable limiting resources to students of the same campus only. The Patron Affiliated Campus rule appears in the input parameters of the Fulfillment Unit Rules Editor.
