  1. Create request from the patron's record

    There is a somewhat common workflow that a patron comes to the desk to loan an item or perform some other activity at the desk. then the patron will ask the librarian to also create a request for him.
    In order to do this currently the operator must leave the patron record and find the title and then re-insert the patron information.
    A much more intuitive and efficient workflow would be to have a Create Request action in the request tab and when entering the screen the user would have to search for inventory and requester would be pre-populated.

  2. Fine Letter - Much like the Lost Item Replacement Fee but a standalone letter

    Alma only gives a User a fine notification within the return receipt but it's merely an afterthought. Currently, we have this set to go to a printer (e-mail address) because we don't want to spam our patrons with return receipts for every item they turn in (I have asked within Sales Force about grouping but even then, it still sends out return receipts individually).

    Ideally, I'd love an option to send a letter ONLY when the person had a fine, and not every time they returned something. This letter would also have more customization, and include fields like Bar code,…

  3. Add the option to add a call number column to the Scan in Items page

    I would like to be able to add a Call Number column to Scan in Items page. Currently, several steps are involved in checking and getting items "out of" acquisitions/processing, ready for shelving-- In order to double check a call number I need to first scan in each item in resource management while I am in the "acquisitions" location, then change my location to Circulation desk to access the Scan in items .   4. Show preview of letters before they are sent for testing purposes

    I dislike the fact that I have to create situation where a letter is sent before I can actually see what it looks like. It would be nice to see a preview after editing a letter.

  5. Enable customer-defined order of locations in the Get It menu

    Currently, the locations in the Alma resolver (Get It menu) are not sorted in a consistent, meaningful manner. There is a "use IP best locations ordering" option, but this option is insufficient for many institutions. For instance, in many cases, users are off site or not in a library building, and many institutions do not reserve IP addresses for specific buildings. There is also an alphabetical option but often the size or significance of locations doesn't fit well into an alphabetical listing (for example a small branch starting with A or B might sort ahead of a large Central Library).

  6. Automatically remove block (because of overdue item) when the item due date has been renewed

    When books with a block due to overdue date has been renewed, the block has to be removed manually. We would like to see that this happens automatically. The block is added because of the overdue status, so we were surprised that those blocks were removed automatically when the book isn't overdue anymore. Is this possible to add in Alma?

  7. Add the ability to default booking hours to start of day/end of day

    We use bookings primarily for faculty materials that they'll use in class- we have set hours when they can pick things up in the library so the hours and minutes functions are a moot point- they're always at the start and end of business days. It would be nice not to have to enter in the exact time for start/end for every booking, and if they defaulted to opening/closing times we could actually open this up to patron-driven bookings through Primo, which are way too complicated currently given all the time options.

  8. Increase number of loans, requests etc. shown in Alma

    We want to increase the number of records to show in all of the lists in the system to 50. Current maximum is 20.

    Loan limits for patrons are 50 items and it would be helpful to see all 50 items in the loan screen at once, without having to consult the other pages.

    As of November release you can now select the number of results appearing on any list of results (previously, only a few lists had this feature). For some lists, the range is between 10 and 50 results. For other lists, it is between 20 and 100 results.

    In our library system in Siena we have also public libraries (Institution REDO)
    These libraries host classes to "introduce" young students to the libraries and books.

    When we were in Aleph these libraries created a card from the class (let's say second class of Green School) and they made loans on this card.
    They used the temporary note in order to write the name of the children that took the book.

  10. Remember last selection for "Automatically Print Slip?" in Scan In Items

    Some of our staff need to change the "Automatically print slip" radio button to Yes each time they enter a Scan In Items workflow to pass items to another department. Other staff do not.
    We would like Alma to remember an operator's last setting for this radio button, enabling every operator to have an optimal workflow.

  11. Add an option to turn off prediction of past scanned/searched patrons in Patron Services

    When manually entering patron names or primary IDs in patron services (to check against lost item reports, &c), the name/s of previously searched patrons will autopopulate the search field. I end up having to do extra clicks to clear the field and search for the patron I actually want. The times that needing past scanned/searched patrons to be re-searched/scanned is exceedly rare, so the feature is more of an inconvenience than a help. I would love to be able to turn it off.

  12. Add location in the customize field of the list of loans.

    When looking at the list of loans of the particular patron Alma permit to customize certain fields, but it does not allow choose location as an alternative. At our library, the location determines the group of patron to whom the items can be loaned. We propose to add the location to the list of alternatives from whose to choose.   13. Please make the new Print Queue available to Fulfilment Operators

    The Print Queue is a great addition to ALMA but only having it available to Fulfilment Administrator is difficult. We would love you to make the print queue available to Fulfilment Mangagers and Fulfilment Operators. This would significantly improve it's efficiency.

  14. Add an action's menu button for the damaged books

    We would like to add a possibility on the action's menu.

    "Lost" is not enough because we have to write an explaination when the books are damaged and it is really not easy with the "lost" possibility.

    So currently we use "claimed return" but it does not block the fines.

    It will be much easier for us with a new button "damaged books".

    And we have to differentiate all those conditions for the billings.

  15. Date parameters for user blocks and / or notes

    When manually adding a block (or a note) to a user's account it would be useful to add date parameters that the block/note is active, e.g. if a user is on Leave of Absence and therefore unable to borrow to be able to state that the block starts at XX and ends on XX would reduce staff time have to manually remove that block.
    This would also tie in with the planned proposal for pop up blocks/notes (on Ideas EXchange)

  16. Generate Transit Slip when it goes to work order department assigned to Circulation Desk instead of simply saying "Manage Locally."

    Currently when an item is received for a work order department assigned to a circulation desk the staff member gets a message that says "manage locally." However, there could be multiple work order departments assigned to a circ desk and so a transit slip should print showing the staff member where that item needs to go to. Even though it might be managed at that circ desk, the staff member still needs to know who to give that item to so a transit slip should print showing which work order department that the item needs to go to.

  17. Suggestion to avoid spam filtering changing EnvelopeFrom in Configuring Outgoing Email

    Actually an Institution cannot catch bounced emails because the EnvelopeFrom header field in Alma's emails is set to an address that has the domain @exlibrisgroup.com and it is not accessible. Changing the EnvelopeFrom to an email address in the institution domain may result in spam filtering and blocking. But if you could provide one email address account accessible in the domain @exlibrisgroup.com per Institution it could be use ad EnvelopeFrom address: the email (an example for my institution: 39UPI-email_admin@exlibrisgroup.com) should be readable by the related institution staff and user as EnvelopeFrom address (and/or for other purpose, such as Alma's…

  18. Fulfillment: Send duplicate Lost Item Refund notice to the library staff

    Program Alma to send a duplicate "lost item refund" notice to the library staff email/printer when a lost item is returned. This would be similiar to how Alma sends a copy of the cash receipt for fines paid to both the user and to the library staff.

  19. Add patron due date to Resource Sharing information

    On the Borrowing screen for Resource Sharing requests it would be nice to see the patron's current due date in addition to the request due date for requests that are checked out to patrons. This could be an optional field to be added to the Resource Sharing Task List.

  20. Remove the gender field

    Entirely remove the gender field (from staff-facing patron data form) or allow us to grey it out so it is not collected. There is no need to collect gender information about library patrons. This is a matter of equity and inclusion.
