  1. Analytics on Sandbox

Having the flexibility to build analytics on our premium sandbox would be beneficial two fold. First, it would allow us to fully test processes on our test system using analytics reporting we intend to use in production. Second, it would allow us to work through data changes and the related reporting without having to disrupt live production data.

  2. Reporting PO Line Notes

Currently, there no option to report PO Line Notes in Alma Analytics. Given the possibility to add many and various Notes to each PO Line, this seems a valuable opportunity missed.

Could other Alm users make use of this reporting option too?

  3. Include the full physical item's History - Item Changes in analytics

Analytics captures a Physical Item's Modified By and Modification Date, however this only tracks the most recent change to an item, and it does not describe the change made.

I'm hoping Analytics can be expanded to include all of the detail that can be found on the item's History - Item Changes report within Alma, including:

    *Date
    *Operator
    *Field Name
    *Old Value
    *New Value

We are closing this request as this is data that can be found in Alma and is very large which would demand high effort which can be utilized for more useful developments.

  4. Adjust the Analytics report generation time to include events occurring after 8 PM.

Currently, the Analytics report is generated around 8 PM Taiwan time, which is earlier than the library's closing time. As a result, events that occur after 8 PM are not included in the statistics for the following day. This prevents the library from obtaining complete statistics for the previous day. If the report generation time could be delayed by at least 2 hours, it would be very helpful for Taiwan users.

We appreciate your feedback on how ETL timing impacts your workflows and the request to adjust the ETL processing time from 20:00 to 22:00.

Given that there are institutions in various time zones, delaying the ETL time by two hours would have a broader impact across other libraries.

We carefully evaluated the potential effects and risks of this change and decided to continue with the current schedule of the ETL process.

We are closing this idea so that you will be able to use your votes for other enhancements you would like to promote.

  5. Ability to report all MARC tags and subfields in bibliographic, holdings and authority records

I can no longer vote for the originally posted idea with this title, as it has been marked as "Already supported"

I would, however, argue that creating sets in Alma and MARC export capability is NOT the same as reporting capability. Please reconsider this suggestion.

We need this functionality in ANALYTICS in order incorporate the data (i.e. to append notes from the holding record to a shelf list report, or to limit results by something in the fixed fields) efficiently into our reports.

  6. Analytics report for titles daily

I would like to have the possibility of knowing the updated amount of titles daily. Alma currently updates that information only every 28 days. This does not allow having statistics updated until the previous day.

    Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for this idea. We appreciate your interest in staying informed.

After careful consideration, we regret to inform you that we are unable to provide more frequent updates at this time. Our priority is to maintain system stability and ensure uninterrupted functionality for all users. Frequent updates could potentially strain our infrastructure and impact overall performance.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

    Thank you for your understanding.

  7. Alma set from Alma Analytics - allow for creation of a Logical set

Currently it's possible to create a set directly from Analytics, but the end result is an itemised set. This functionality is great for skipping a few steps in exporting a file from Analytics, but fails to take advantage of the dynamic nature of daily Analytics updates. To do that, we need the option to create a Logical set which is tied to an Analytics report.
Use case: We have three Analytics reports for three Publishing Profiles for specific local License Terms, which are sent to an external Resource Sharing provider (RapidILL). We cannot create these sets in Alma due to…

  8. Scheduled analytics reports will not send when the reports return no results

We often have to track incorrect data using analytics reports. If the analytics reports have no results (empty), then we do not want to see the reports emailed to us. In other words, if the analytics reports can catch incorrect data we design the reports to catch, then we would like Alma to send the reports to us. When an analytics reports return no results, it is in error, Alma should be able to identify the "no results" error, and stop sending us the empty reports. Bottom line, we do not want to receive analytics reports that are empty.

    Dear Colleagues,

We appreciate your innovative suggestions and understand the value such development would bring. Despite our best efforts to integrate Oracle Analytics seamlessly with Alma, we face technical constraints that prevent us from implementing the proposed functionality. As Oracle Analytics is an external product, it limits our ability to adapt its features fully to our desired specifications.

Regrettably, the functionality to enable Alma's scheduled letters to discern content presence within attached reports and alter the workflow accordingly is beyond our current technical scope.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we must, with regret, decline this idea.

    Warm regards,

    Shoshana

  9. Show folder and column details in filters in alma analytics where multiple columns have identical names.

When creating a repost in Alma there are certain subject areas (e.g Physical Items) where a column name is identical across multiple folders.
    For example:
    Material Type (Physical Item Details)
    Material Type (Bibliographic Details)
    Material Type (PO Line)

when viewed in "Create" view in Alma you can see the folder headings above the column headings and there identify which is which.
However when used as filters, only the column heading is displayed - therefore it is impossible to identify which is which without clicking into each filter and looking for Column Formula to see which folder it comes from.

    Snip…

    Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your concerns regarding the suggested workaround.

There is a solution, though it not be user-friendly for those unfamiliar with SQL.

We appreciate the importance of making our tools as accessible as possible, however, implementing the requested change would require significant time and resources. This would divert our focus from other critical features that could provide greater overall benefits to our user base.

We value your input and are committed to continuously improving our services.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

  10. Analytics updates for a full date (Change the time for updates)

Analytics doesnt have the updated information for our institution at the end of the day, we need to wait another day to get the info updated for that day, we want that every intitution can have their own update time for data.

    Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your request to allow scheduling the analytics data refresh per institution. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate this request as we run an ETL at the same time for all the institutions in a specific data center. It is impossible to configure different run times per institution or even per instance. Additionally, we cannot predict the duration of the run-time in advance, which could take anywhere from a few hours to 10 hours.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please refer to our online documentation for more information.

  11. Analytics - column properties

Let the default for Column Format / Value Suppression be set as "Repeat" instead of "Suppress" for most data points. I often export my results to Excel and have to go into each data point to set it to Repeat. Having this as a default setting (or even a default toggle) would be helpful.

Certain aspects of the OBI (Oracle Business Intelligence) which is used by Alma Analytics can be changed from the default as it is supplied with Alma. Certain aspects however remain in the default state as supplied, and will not be changed as supplied with Alma Analytics. For various technical reasons beyond the scope of an Ideas Exchange answer the default column format value will not be changed from “suppress” to “repeat”.

  12. Real Time Analytics

Real-time Analytics data would be a fantastic feature. I foresee the lag in data refresh to be an issue validating our FPC data. Overall, it would just be beneficial to have up-to-the-minute data.

  13. Reporting on historical location changes

Analytics should allow users to run reports on historical location changes e.g. identify items that were moved from Branch A to Branch B or different locations in the same branch. This information is visible in the Item history tab; it should be made available for management reports.

    Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for submitting your suggestion. After careful review, we have determined that this request necessitates an event in Alma for a permanent location change, before it can be incorporated into our analytics. However, considering the current level of support for this idea, we regret to inform you that we have decided to close it.

If you have any further questions or need clarification, please feel free to reach out.

  14. Expose metadata dictionary to customers in Alma Analytics

Oracle OBIEE provides functionality to describe metadata associated with fields in the subject area tables:

    https://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1221/biee/BIEUG/analyses.htm#BIEUG587

This does not seem to be enabled in Analytics, but having it as a ready reference would greatly facilitate creation of reports.

    Thanks!

    Dear all,

Thank you for submitting your idea.

As it has not gained the traction we typically look for to move forward, it is unlikely to be implemented in the foreseeable future.

That said, your feedback remains valuable, and we will continue to keep it in mind as our roadmap evolves.

  15. Set analytics refresh date to a specific time

We need some of our analytics reports rather early in the morning. The analytics refresh time is sometimes so late that our coworkers have problems to finish their work before we open our library, at which point their work needs to be done. We would appreciate a fixed time for the daily analytics refresh.

  16. Add a "Last page" option on the Results tab

It would be helpful to include a "Last page" or "end page" arrow on the Results tab in Analytics. There is an arrow to take you to the beginning of the analysis but not to the end. Sometimes it is helpful to go to the end of an analysis to check the data and it is very time-consuming to click the "Next 500 rows" arrow several times on large analyses.

  17. Add timeout warning to Design Analytics module

Currently, there is no way to know when Design Analytics is about to time out or when it has already timed out.  A timed-out screen is visually indistinguishable from a logged-in one.

  18. Subject headings's in Analytics

Analytics combines all the subject heading into one result for an individual bib record. This can be hard to read if a bib record has more them 4 subject headings. It would be more useful if each individual subject heading had its own result for an individual bib record.

  20. Add HTML to Analytics dashboards

It would be cool if we could include active HTML in our dashboards.

For example, ibrarians who are reviewing new electronic acquistions could pull up a list of new acquisition and, in a one click, link directly through to the resources. (Currently, they would need to pull down the report, find the URL in the data, then copy and paste that back into the browser)

Additionally, outside images (via <img> tag) could be incorporated into reports for branded presentations.

By default in OBIEE, only Administrators have the right to use HTML in the data format of any column.
