1. Add "Print Slip Report" action to the "Resource Request Monitoring" screen

   The Print Slip Report function is currently available from the "Pick Up Requested Resources" and "Resource Sharing Lending Requests Task List" screens. But when a hold is placed on an item that is checked out, the returning item is automatically placed on hold and the request bypasses the "Pick Up Requested Resources" screen and shows up on the "Resource Request Monitoring" screen as "On Hold Shelf". But the Print Slip Report is not available here. It does need to be available here, as well.

   "Print Slip Report" is a different action than "Print Slip." The Print Slip Report is a function that was developed for the Orbis Cascade Alliance based on our need to be able print enhanced hold slips from Alliance-hosted server. The Print Slip Report sends an XML-formatted email with metadata for requests to our server, where the XML is parsed and used to generate PDFs for printing via a web browser interface. This function is crucial to the workflow of our 38 institutions for both local and resource sharing requests. Exporting to Excel won't work, since the Print Slip Report is used to email an XML format to our server. As I indicated above, use of the Print Slip Report is a key step in our workflows at all institutions. Not being able to use the Print Slip Report for requests that bypass the "Pick Up Requested Resources" screen disrupts that workflow.

   The request monitor page is not intended to be the routine working space, but rather be an interface that allows searching and fining specific requests to query about their status, and run some specific actions (such as cancel). The routine work on the requests list is intended to be done via the task lists.

2. Borrowing Activity Report Job – send to smaller sub-sets of borrowers

   Once letters have been sent, this generates a glut of borrower loan and fine queries all at the same time.
   Need an ability to send the letters in smaller sub-sets in order to even out the follow-up enquiries to not all be at the same time.

3. Add Primary Identifier or Item Barcode to patron-delivered letters

   Patrons receive many letters from us (summaries of their loans, fines, check out, check in, etc.) When someone wants me to do something about their account, they just write me back saying "fix this". So, I need to look up their account. But unfortunately, it can be difficult to figure out who the patron is. Either there are multiple people with the name listed or someone has their name changed in a way that isn't reflected in the letter.
   If you could add their primary identifier within all their letters, that would save me a couple of steps. And it would also be helpful to add the item barcodes to all items listed so they are easier to track down once an item is off a person's account.

4. Achieve a number of changes in dates that can be added as loans in transactions

5. Request for Improved linking to courses associated with a title from the ‘All Titles’ citation list

   As Library staff I want to be able to link to an associated Course code without the multiple clicking that is currently required.

   What is required:
   We are requesting that the result of an All titles search immediately displays with a “Courses” hyperlink for each title that would result in the courses list displaying on the next page.
   The Courses hyperlink would preferably display where the Orders and Requests hyperlinks currently display on the citation list page.

   Reasons:
   This would have the benefits of
   • Immediate identification of an associated course
   • Providing a 1 link click (rather than multiple clicking)

   Current scenario:
   1. Alma > All Titles > Keyword search
   2. For any title, click ‘Other details’
   3. Click the Courses link
   4. Go to More Actions > Reading List to see the citation in the reading list

6. In Calendar Management, allow the removal of old exception dates without changing upcoming due dates

   Currently, in the Alma Calendar Management configuration page, if an exception (closed) date from the past is removed then loans with upcoming due dates can be affected when the Due Date Correction after Calendar Change job runs.

   It would be helpful if there was a way to remove old exception dates without upcoming due dates changing. Otherwise, exception dates can never be removed.

7. Relocate cursor to barcode scan field in "Scan In Items" after checkbox selection

   Circulation staff report problems when scanning in a large number of items:

   1. If a user clicks a checkbox or radio button in the scan in items interface, Alma does not direct the cursor to the barcode field.
   2. If the user then scans an item without clicking into the barcode field first, Alma delivers an error because the carriage return at the end of the scan submits the form, but no barcode was registered.
   3. If this error is not noticed by a staff member who has a lapse of attention, they could continue scanning and miss multiple items in a row due to the cursor remaining out of the barcode box.

   While we train our staff to be vigilant while scanning items in, mistakes happen when items are processed in large batches.

   I see that in the Manage Item Returns screen, upon selecting an Override Return Date and Time option, the cursor redirects to the Barcode field. We would like to see a similar OnChange event in the checkboxes and radio buttons in "Scan In Items," particularly "Register In-House Use."

8. Add a confirmation warning when creating a Course without Instructors

   When creating Courses for Reserves, Alma allows you to save a course without entering an instructor. This is a good thing -- it allows for "general reserves" cases.

   However, because Instructors are entered on a separate tab from the main Course info, it's extremely easy for a user to neglect to add an instructor, leading to retrieval problems later.

   Could an alert be raised when a staff member saves a Course record without selecting at least one instructor, confirming that the omission was intentional?

11. Transit Times between libraries to reflect deliveries.

    Currently in Alma transit time is an average time with a relevant disclaimer, however we need to create a transit time between two libraries where delivery of books to/from the libraries happens once a week, this tansit time will reflect exact and changing deliveries.

12. Ability to amend the Reason MappingTable

    Currently if an item has its due date shortened due to a Recall or a Patron Expiry the text provided to the end user, via the shortened loan due date letter, is not customisable. There doesn't appear to be a Reason Mapping table, so the text for the RECALL or PATRONEXPIRY reasons is somethign we have no control over.
    It would be really useful to be able to amend these .

13. Course Reserves Items

    Another thing I would like to see is when you look up an item record that is on reserve, in the record it shows what course it is on reserve for. Looking at item records in Leganto does this, which seems based off of Primo, so I would think it is a possibility (when you open up an item record it says at this bottom, "Appears on these reading lists:" and list the lists it appears on).

14. Course Reserves searching when only one Course

    If a course only has one item on Reserve, searching for it in Course Reserves does not provide the facets that show you the course name or Professor's name. I recognize that facets are intended to be used to narrow down a search, so if a search results in one item, it makes sense for them not to display, but in this case, this is how we find a course/professor's name.

16. Provide a notice/warning on Scan In when a home delivery is blocked

    When an item requested for home delivery is scanned in and the patron is blocked, e.g. due to excessive fines, Alma silently places the item on the Hold Shelf. There is no notice to the staff user that the item was requested for home delivery and that a fulfillment process was just interrupted.

    We use home delivery exclusively for remote students that often will not be able to come in and pick up their items, so placing the item on the hold shelf will not help them.

    And when/if the block is lifted (e.g. the user pays the fines) the item will remain on the hold shelf with no indication in Alma that it can now be delivered as requested.

    We regard this as an exception that will require manual intervention from our staff to be able to fulfill the request, but since Alma doesn't alert the staff user it is far to easy to miss.

17. Work order email notification option

    We use work orders to request items from our other branches to be loaned out via interlibrary loan.

    When the branch is unable to find the book, they click Mark as Missing on their Pick from Shelf list.

    Unfortunately, this simply deletes the work order and doesn't notify us that the work order was deleted. We have to go into our Monitor Requests queue and actually scroll through all the completed requests to find the ones that were marked as missing.

    I would like to request that when creating a new work order, there is an option to add an email address that will be notified when the item is marked missing and/or the work order is cancelled.

18. Please allow library staff to override the re-loan limit embargo if needed.

    We profiled a 24 hour "embargo" using the new Reloan Limit parameter in Alma, so patrons have to wait 24 hours before checking out another laptop. However, there have been several times that a patron checked out a laptop, but experienced technical difficulties with the device and returned it to check out a replacement device. However, Alma doesn't allow staff to override the new reloan limit so we have to keep a written note with the patron's info, item barcode, etc. and do a manual check out for the replacement device after the embargo time has passed.

    In cases such as this, it would make sense to allow library staff to override the embargo if needed.

19. Track actions on items in transit

    Currently, when an item goes into transit, it only registers the scan into transit and the scan out of transit. However, sometimes, an item gets scanned at an intermediate location for a variety of reasons and this scan is not logged in the item history. This makes tracking items in transit more difficult and nearly impossible to find if they get held up at the intermediate location.

20. Allow library configuration to block Temporary or Permanent Move requests

    University of Wisconsin Madison has a ‘Withdrawn’ library, where items are moved and suppressed, because they are deaccessioned (e.g, extra copies that are no longer needed) or lost and missing materials. We use this method for in-depth reporting for capital depreciation and other accounting measures. As these items technically don't physically exist, we would like to be able to block Temporary or Permanent Move requests (to Change the items location) on the ‘Withdrawn’ library. Currently, blocking all requests, blocks patron initiated requests, but does not prevent staff from putting in these internal requests to change location on an item and can accidentally select the ‘Withdrawn’ library. Another use case would be preventing change location requests for our ‘library’ that contains the university's inventory in an out-of-state shared print repository.
