Add Global edit
legacy Refworks has global edit function, so I can edit language field at once. Thus, it is good for if my output style has two definition for different languages. However, New RefWorks has bulk edit function as similar as Global edit, but there is no function for editing languages filed.
27 votesI am happy to update that the following fields were added to the bulk edit feature as part of the February RefWorks release:
Authors
Language
Reference Type
Title

Offer Sensitive and Specific deduplication algorithms instead of New and Legacy
New RefWorks presently offers a choice of two deduplication algorithms that work differently. They find comparable numbers of duplicates, but they do not find the same duplicates. Users have to run both algorithms to find the maximum number of duplicates.
Users would be better off if the choices were between a high-sensitivity search (flag any duplicate picked up by either algorithm) and a high-specificity search (flag only those duplicates picked up by both algorithms).

Sort by Date on Table View
We would like to sort references by data when we display RefWorks on table view.
14 votesReferences may be sorted in Table View (and all other views) by Date added, Date modified, Date published, Title, Author or RefID. Ordering may be in descending or ascending order. Page display limit is 2000, but now all references are sorted.

Ensure RCM (RefWorks Citation Manager) works well in Microsoft Word for Mac
allowing references to be added easily and quickly
62 votesI’m happy to notify that the updated RCM version is now available in the Microsoft store; it supports Word 2019 and Word online, on Windows and Mac. Users who have previously installed RCM will automatically be updated to the new version.

Be able to just hit Enter when using "Search Databases"
When using "Search Databases" in the basic mode, make it so I can just hit Enter instead of clicking on the magnifying glass to enter my search terms.
If the magnifying glass is necessary, either move it to the end of the search box or replace it with a blue Search box (as in the Advanced search).
11 votesI am happy to update that this was done in the RefWorks May release – users can now hit Enter to initiate a search.

Please make RefWorks for Google Docs compatible with Open Athens (single sign on)
Please make RefWorks for Google Docs compatible with Single Sign such as OpenAthens. Our students don't want to use it since it requires an additional password.

Include information about RCM within the online RefWorks interface
Currently in the Tools section of RefWorks there is only information on Write-n-Cite. Users are finding this and downloading Write-n-Cite when we are recommending they use RCM instead. Can the information on citing in Word in the Tools section be updated to explain that users can use RCM if they have Word 2016 or later?
1 voteI am happy to update that this issue was fixed in the July version released today.

Improve import of author's names
The most common problem we see with the formatting of references is that the author's first and last name are treated as one field, so that the in-text citation would read (Ali Smith, 2017) rather than (Smith, 2017). This happens quite a lot, is there a way to improve the export/importing of author's names?

Citation style names need context
Many citation styles have many different versions (author-date, in-text, footnote) and editions (6th, 7th, 8th). The names in the list make it hard to choose which one is best. Clearer names and more information about the style, including last updated date, perhaps in a "hover" style information box, would help users. It would also be nice to be able to search/browse a list of styles instead of only having an autocomplete search box to find citation styles.
10 votesNuanced citation styles list context in name. All styles can be previewed, including example citation and bibliography, in the Citation Style Editor to view details.

Share entire project in New REFworks
Share entire project in New REFworks
Legacy RefWorks allows you to share an entire project.
It is great that we now have the ability to have projects in the new format, but right now you can only share folders. Sharing an entire project would be helpful for many of us!5 votesHappy to update that Project Sharing is supported as of the May 7 2019 release. Change "Select All" to read "Select All ON THIS PAGE" when moving citations from Last Imported
When moving citations from Last Imported to a folder, the default option is to "Select all" but that wording is misleading - it only selects the citations shown on the page, which defaults to 50. If you just imported 51 citations, "Select All" doesn't actually select all, it selects only the first 50.

No menu bar above toolbar
The blue menu bar doesn't reduce with the window, resulting in the account and language tab float over the toolbar. It prevents the user to access some tools when using RefWorks alongside other programs, with reduced windows side by side

Write-n-cite search "function" improvement
Am I the only one who thinks the Write-n-cite "insert citation"-window functionality is horrible?
Please,
1) add a possibility re-size the window such that you can see more than just two references.
2) allow proper search function - at minimum a possibility to search by typing two author names but preferably also words from any field in the reference.Currently I see only two lines
and (maybe I'm doing this wrong but anyway) can only search by single author (surname).93 votes1. Resizing the window is supported
2. The search function will not be updated, however we will improve the search function in RefWorks Citation Manager (RCM), which is for Word 2016 and above. There is a new idea for that on which you can vote. -
Ability to de-duplicate shared folders
It would be extremely useful to be able to de-duplicate shared folders, as students in my organization typically use shared folders to individually search for resources for a group project. The ability to de-duplicate the folder after the research portion of the project is over would be immediately helpful.

Improve to select output styles easily on WNC
For New RefWorks users it is hoped to be able to select all of the output styles from one list or make a list of favorite styles by theirselves on Write-N-Cite.
39 votesI am happy to update that simplified style selection was added to RefWorks in the May release – users now have 3 quick access menus for recent, custom and institutional styles (to which a favorites menu will be added later). It will be available in the updated RCM as well once it will be in the Microsoft Store. We currently do not plan to add this to WnC.

Stop defaulting back to original settings
I sometimes import large numbers of references or are working with databases with large numbers of references, so I set the number to display so that I can see all references on one page. RefWorks keeps defaulting back to 50 per page. I have to keep changing it back and have sometimes only edited/moved 50 references before I realized it had defaulted back and that the rest weren't displayed. Please also stop defaulting to sorting by date added or normal view instead of what I had changed it to. I set it a certain way for a reason and it…

Edit author
Sometimes authors have to be entered in manually. This is especially the case when I import PDFs - RefWorks captures the wrong authors. However, it would be easier if we could rearrange the order of authors manually. Currently, if I accidentally delete the first author or skipped a third author, I can't go back and add these authors in their correct order. Instead, I have to re-type all the author names again in the correct order.
Please allow authors to be manually added and allow us to add authors in a specific order/ wherever we click in the author section.
