← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Add "Educational Video Online" to discovery index

    "Educational Video Online" is the product of MARUZEN Publishing.
    It is a Japanese database which contains medical and nursing subject video contents, and the number of subscribing institutions is growing after COVID.
    It will be beneficial to users if they can search for it in discovery services.

    It would be helpful to have the National Service Center for Environmental Publications (https://www.epa.gov/nscep) in the CDI, for access to US Environmental Protection Agency documents in full text.

  3. WISO Videos Wirtschaftswissenschaften

    WISO Videos Wirtschaftswissenschaften is already added as a (portfolio)- selective collection to the ALMA CZ.

    Please also bring in the CDI functionality as well.
    The databases from GBI GENIOS are a very valuable resoruce within the German scientific community.

  6. Projectr Edu

    Please add Projectr Edu collection(s) to the knowledge bases as well as MARC records for the titles. Projectr Edu is a streaming video platform for libraries from Grasshopper Films. It contains close to 1,000 films. They're adding new titles very frequently so it would need to be updated regularly.     This is an open access resource. It turned OA in 2023.

    These population datasets are valuable for GIS researchers and are intended to aid in emergency preparedness, readiness, response, and recovery missions; risk assessments; site suitability studies; and a full range of other applications that depend on accurate population data.

    "新建築データ(SHINKENCHIKU DATA)" is an online database of Japanese biggest journal of architecture.

    Both paper version of this journal and this database are widely subscribed in many universities in Japan.

    Hello,

    The only two collections that are missing completely are 

    1. scholars-e-library / Sprachwissenschaft/Anglistik 2020_1
    2. scholars-e-library / Religion/Theologie - Religionswissenschaft 2020_2

    Please confirm if others are represented properly in the KBs (instead of 2020 in two parts 1/2 as mentioned in this list, we received annual 2020 collections from the provider with no breakdown).

    We will reach out to the provider to confirm the two missing collections.

  12. add ACM open access backfile

    Can you make this new collection selectable in 360? Lots of new OA content is now available but the current ACM:Digital Library: OA collection only has 4 titles.

  13. Break up IBISWorld into sub-collections

    The existing IBISWorld collection (IBISWorld Alma ID 6113915960000041 DBID 6EY) is for the entire platform, but many customers license only a subset of that content. The smaller IBISWorld collections in the CZ are not connected to a CDI DB and they aren't complete (e.g., there's no collection for the Ontario Provincial Reports). Please make more subset collections and CDI DBs for them.

  14. Add KB Collection for Hirzel Verlag Journals

    Please add a KB collection for Hirzel Verlag journals on the Biblioscout platform.

    It appears they only publish one journal:
    ZfdA Zeitschrift für deutsches Altertum und deutsche Literatur
    https://biblioscout.net/journal/zfda
    Start coverage year is 2005 and ISSN is 0044-2518.

    There's already a Community Zone collection named "Biblioscout - S. Hirzel Verlag Elibrary" (collection ID 616200000000000030) but Content Support clarified that it's only for ebooks and that a journal portfolio cannot be added to it.

  19. Create new/separate automatic holdings collections for Taylor & Francis

    I'd love to make use of the new Taylor & Francis automatic holdings feature, but the collections it points to are collections that we are already using. For certain providers, I prefer to use automatic holdings as a "back-up" to my own management. The "Taylor & Francis eBooks Complete" is the collection that the GOBI API uses. I'm also already using the "Taylor & Francis Current Content Access" for another reason. Springer and Wiley both have separate autoholdings collections. Could separate collections also be created for Taylor & Francis? Thanks!
