← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. WISO Videos Wirtschaftswissenschaften

    WISO Videos Wirtschaftswissenschaften is already added as a (portfolio)- selective collection to the ALMA CZ.

    Please also bring in the CDI functionality as well.
    The databases from GBI GENIOS are a very valuable resoruce within the German scientific community.

    We would like to add our journal, "Music Research Annual" (https://musicresearchannual.org/), to both Discovery and Knowledgebase. Music Research Annual is the first peer-reviewed journal devoted to publishing review essays from the full range of academic disciplines that study music. Each article explores the current state of scholarship on a key topic within a discipline or interdisciplinary juncture and charts ways forward to new research.   9. Audiobook as a format in the 360 knowledge base

    Right now the only formats in the 360 knowledge base are monograph, serial, and video- I would like to have audiobook available.

  12. Create a way to distinguish volumes for a single title

    There is a title in Gale resources, Encyclopedia of African-American culture and history : the Black experience in the Americas, that has several portfolios available. Each portfolio links to a different volume in Gale. Each portfolio has unique linking but if you see the title in Primo, you will see only the title listed, many times. I had to add a volume note to each portfolio so users could tell each title apart. This was not the only title I've found that is like this.     The bib records in the electronic collection Hanser Elibrary Books are very poor and sometimes even wrong.

    DBC recommend us to get the data via DBC OAI repo https://www.dbc.dk/produkter-services/webservices

    DBC OAI Repo
    OAI-service gives access to harvest bibliographic data.

    The national bibliographic data are freely available and doesn’t need to be authorized. There is a limit of how many records can be harvested at a time, but you can set a script to harvest continuously.

    Bookport is one of the most important sources of Czech e-books (mostly) for libraries across all types and collections.
    The content can be used by municipal, school, university, scientific or national libraries.

    Can you make this new collection selectable in 360? Lots of new OA content is now available but the current ACM:Digital Library: OA collection only has 4 titles.

    Please consider contacting WIT Press in order to add the WIT Press eLibrary to the Alma CZ and CDI for indexing.

    The WIT Press eLibrary is a fully open access collection of scholarly content on sustainable engineering and environmental engineering.

    It contains journals and transactions that are all registered with CrossRef (meaning that they have DOIs).

    The transactions are monograph series (have both ISSNs and ISBNs).
