← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Create new/separate automatic holdings collections for Taylor & Francis

    I'd love to make use of the new Taylor & Francis automatic holdings feature, but the collections it points to are collections that we are already using. For certain providers, I prefer to use automatic holdings as a "back-up" to my own management. The "Taylor & Francis eBooks Complete" is the collection that the GOBI API uses. I'm also already using the "Taylor & Francis Current Content Access" for another reason. Springer and Wiley both have separate autoholdings collections. Could separate collections also be created for Taylor & Francis? Thanks!

  3. Add "Educational Video Online" to discovery index

    "Educational Video Online" is the product of MARUZEN Publishing.
    It is a Japanese database which contains medical and nursing subject video contents, and the number of subscribing institutions is growing after COVID.
    It will be beneficial to users if they can search for it in discovery services.

    "Database for Research Thesis Catalog of Japanese Literature（国文学論文目録データベース）" is a union catalog database of research papers on Japanese literature.

    This database includes information on research papers on Japanese literature, Japanese language studies, and Japanese language education.

    It would be helpful for researchers if Ex Libris discovery included this database as a search target.

  6. WISO Videos Wirtschaftswissenschaften

    WISO Videos Wirtschaftswissenschaften is already added as a (portfolio)- selective collection to the ALMA CZ.

    Please also bring in the CDI functionality as well.
    The databases from GBI GENIOS are a very valuable resoruce within the German scientific community.

  7. Break up IBISWorld into sub-collections

    The existing IBISWorld collection (IBISWorld Alma ID 6113915960000041 DBID 6EY) is for the entire platform, but many customers license only a subset of that content. The smaller IBISWorld collections in the CZ are not connected to a CDI DB and they aren't complete (e.g., there's no collection for the Ontario Provincial Reports). Please make more subset collections and CDI DBs for them.

    Hello,

    Wiley responded that the Environmental Science and History (ENV) collection is scheduled for completion in Spring 2024, we will add that collection then.

    Regarding the Royal Geographical Society, the metadata will be provided not directly by Wiley but by a 3rd party so it requires some legal clarification.

    In the meantime, we have created two zero title databases to activate for this request:

  12. Add KB Collection for Hirzel Verlag Journals

    Please add a KB collection for Hirzel Verlag journals on the Biblioscout platform.

    It appears they only publish one journal:
    ZfdA Zeitschrift für deutsches Altertum und deutsche Literatur
    https://biblioscout.net/journal/zfda
    Start coverage year is 2005 and ISSN is 0044-2518.

    There's already a Community Zone collection named "Biblioscout - S. Hirzel Verlag Elibrary" (collection ID 616200000000000030) but Content Support clarified that it's only for ebooks and that a journal portfolio cannot be added to it.

  13. Please add Emerald Management Core collection

    In 2024, Emerald will no longer offer Management 120 collection. So we have to switch to this Management Core collection with 172 journal titles.

    We received multiple title lists from Emerald for various collections they are now offering, the Emerald Management Core included for all backfiles, 5 years access and 30 years access.

    We have scheduled adding them by end of April 2024.

    We noticed that the articles in the open access journal 'Il diritto degli affari', ISSN 2281-4531, included in DOAJ, are not indexed in the CDI. Is it possible to have this content searchable?

  15. Improve the metadata of Scholarvox Université (Cyberlibris) collections

    The quality of the metadata for the Scholarvox in the CZ is often extremely poor (only title, print ISBN and language is specified as English but the ebooks are in French).

    In other electronic collections , we find records with only electronic ISBN. So it is confusing.

  16. Add Archives Unbound constituent collections to Alma

    The Archives Unbound database is link in record. There are more than 200 collections within the database and we own only some of them. We have not enabled CDI for Archives Unbound because there would be too many false positives in Primo search results. As it stands, content in Archives Unbound is not discoverable for our users in Primo.
    Can you add the constituent collections as separate databases or as portfolios in the Archives Unbound collection? That way, we would be able to activate them for CDI and our users could discover them in Primo. Note that something similar has…

  20. Sustainable Development Goals Online from Taylor and Francis CDI collection

    Please could SDGO be added as a collection in the CDI? This is a collection of mainly articles and book chapters, and so the contents cannot be activated through portfolios in the Alma CZ.

    Hello,

    We have received the mapping for the discovery metadata for the general SDGO collection, and it will be added by November 2023.

    Please be advised that currently there is no way for us to map the SDGO sub-collections, because the chapters and articles CDI metadata does not contain any tags to match them to the sub-collections.
