← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Bloomsbury Open Frontlist 2026 collections

    Bloomsbury has issued new Bloomsbury Open Frontlist collections for the year 2026. These are collections of ebooks that will be updated throughout 2026. Our consortium, the BTAA, has pre-purchased these collections, and we would like to activate them in the CZ. They are:

    Bloomsbury Open Collections: African Studies and International Development 2026 (Frontlist)
    Bloomsbury Open Collections: Environment & Climate Change 2026 (Frontlist)
    Bloomsbury Open Collections: Gender & Sexuality 2026 (Frontlist)

  2. Please add EBSCOhost MAS Reference ebook collection

    From the Internet description, MAS Reference eBook collection is a companion to the MAS Complete collections. While MAS Complete collections are in the CZ, MAS Reference ebook collection is not.

  3. Add Newer IGI Global Open Access Collections

    Could you please add newer IGI open access collections to the knowledge bases? OR add non-annual collections for OA journals and books? In the CZ their latest OA journal collection is from 2023 and their latest OA ebook collection is from 2024. Thank you!

  4. Steel Construction Manual

    Our library recently purchased this electronic manual, which is published by the American Institute of Steel Construction, which seems to exist in the CZ. We purchased the 2023 edition, Volume 16. The (print) ISBN is: 978-1-56424-116-0. More information is listed here: https://www.aisc.org/aisc/publications/steel-construction-manual/

    This book is commonly used in engineering programs.

    The Hart 2026 collection is scheduled for release by mid‑March 2026.

    We have not yet received metadata for Bloomsbury Professional Law 2026, so we will reach out to Bloomsbury to request it and confirm their expected timeline.

  11. Teachingbooks need contents update

    Hi,

    We have subscribed to Teachingbooks and obtained MARC records from them to create a collection when we set it up years ago. Recently, they told us that to get updates, individual libraries have to set up API to connect to their catalogs using software such as TLC’s LS2, Apollo’s Biblionix, etc.

    Alma Community Zone has offered several Teachingbooks versions as databases. It would be beneficial to all Alma libraries if Ex Libris's Content Team contacts them and sets up API with them, so the databases can become collections with updates, than individual libraries setting up API on their own.…

    Please note that TeachingBooks currently does not share metadata with us, so establishing a new metadata feed may take longer than it would with providers that already supply regular updates.

    Currently, this collection is not provided for JUSTICE consortium and should be separated from "Journals@Ovid LWW Fixed 50 Collection - JUSTICE" database.

  18. New Database Request - Elsevier Read and Publish 2026-2028 (Reading list) - 360 KB

    A new Jisc agreement has been released for Elsevier Read and Publish covering 2026-2028. We need a new database in 360 KB to reflect the current collection and replace the now out-of-date database that covered the 2022-2024 agreement [Elsevier:Jisc Collections:Elsevier Read and Publish Agreement 2022-2024:Freedom Collection (Reading list). FYGXN]

    We also need article-level linking. FYGXN has article level linking in place and the platform has not changed so the same linking principles should still apply.

  19. New Database Request - Cambridge University Press Read and Publish 2026-2029

    A new Jisc agreement has been released for CUP covering 2026-2028 ("Cambridge University Press Open Research 2026-2029").
    We need a new database in 360 KB to reflect the current collection and replace the now out-of-date database that covered the 2021-2024 agreement [Cambridge University Press:Jisc Collections:Cambridge University Press Read and Publish Agreement 2021-24 (Reading list). ACYZP]

    We also need article-level linking. ACYZP has article level linking in place and the platform has not changed so the same linking principles should still apply.
