Summon configuration screens should prompt you to save changes
Some of the Summon configuration pages are getting very long. You don't see the Save button clear at the bottom unless you scroll.
Please add a reminder prompt if someone makes settings changes, but doesn't press Save. I tried to change the book/ebook setting three times before I figured out why it wasn't taking effect!

EJP: Limit autocomplete suggestions to subscribed resources
In the eJournal Portal you can activate autocomplete to get suggestions for journal titles based on what the end-user begins to type in the search-box.
We find this useful. However, as it is ALL Knowledgebase titles can display via the Autocomplete feature. Both title we subscribe to and titles that are not tracked. This means that the end-user will often get suggestions that gives 0 results. We would therefore like to be able to select that the autocomplete feature only suggests journals that we subscribe to.

Provide an overall percentage of MARC record availability at the database level.
Currently one can examine a few specific journals or books within a collection to determine if CONSER or other MARC records are available for a collection. This can be hit or miss. It would be great to see an overall percentage of MARC record availability at the database level as we do with the percentage of Summon coverage.

Persistent display of all information on "Preview"
If users close "preview" on search results once and then reopen it, some information like Altmetric, Call number, Summary from Syndetic and so on are missing.
Users often reopen "preview" to confirm the detail of information there again. I hope the improvement which reflects this user action to be done.

Creating reliable linking to open access content, depending on authentication
We have run into issues with open access materials leading to a paywalled (authentication required) link, within Summon. From a patron's perspective, when they click the "Open Access" facet, all results should be open access content, but this is not always the case, based on the Match & Merge process. To fix this, and allow patrons interested in OA content to reliably link to OA content, could we order the links in records based on whether or not a patron has already logged in and authenticated in our Summon instance? If they have not authenticated and choose open access, the…

Add style guide for ACS (American Chemical Society)
Now that we've added IEEE, could we add ACS style format for citation style options? Thanks!

Allow for the ordering of EJP results
We'd like to be able to decide how results should show up in the Journals search: a specific example (see attached image) would be if you are searching on "nature", then the journals with "nature" in the real title (as opposed to the Alternate Title) would rise to the top. Right now they come back in alphabetical order and we feel this is counterintuitive - more helpful would be how results in most other places come back, with relevancy rankings incorporated.
Please note: We know that you can remove alternate titles in the search results, but we'd like to retain…

Make custom panels visible for mobile phone users
There appears to be no way for custom panels to display on mobile phones, which forces us to provide alternative instructions for doing certain things in Summon for people using phones. There should be a way for these panels to display.

Be able to access usage statistics without needing the Discovery Admin role.
It would be good if Library Staff members, who are not system administrators, to have the ability to go into Summon's Usage analytics without needing the Discovery Admin role and access to the Summon Admin Console.

Link to all full-text options from within Summon results, alongside 1-click
Given the new issues with framed resources and the sidebar, I'd like to suggest the option to add a link to all full-text sources for a given article directly within the Summon results. That way, even with the sidebar turned off, users can still find alternative sources of full-text if the "top" source from 1-click doesn't work as expected.

no automatic loading service in 360 core client centre
In 360 Core client centre, we really miss the functionality of activating the automatic loading service for (pe.) Elsevier, Jstor, Ovid/LWW, Proquest etc.
In SFX en Alma, this is available.Does anyone this missing too?
1 vote360 Client Center now supports the KBART standard for automated holdings exchange. We have added Taylor & Francis and Springer Nature as partners and will onboard additional providers moving forward.

Update Summon Citation Generator to Current Editions
The citation generator in Summon is not using the most current style guides. In particular, we are most concerned about APA, AMA, and MLA. We request that those are updated to the most current versions and the Knowledge Center article updated accordingly. Thanks!
8 votesCustom citations are now available in Summon as part of the August 2022 release. This citation style should be available. If it is not, or if any citation style does not meet your criteria, you can create your own.

Display all 5xx note fields as the default in Summon
Make display of all 5xx note fields the default in Summon in the Catalog Detail page, results screen and elsewhere. These fields already appear in Primo, with various labels (General note for 500, Language note for 546, Awards note for 586, Bibliography for 504, etc.). With these omitted from Summon, patrons are missing vital, helpful information from bibliographic records, such as: accessibility features for patrons with disabilities (532, 546); detailed language information--not just the languages themselves, but whether they’re for subtitles, described video, certain articles in anthologies, etc. (546); awards won for picture books, Academy Award winning movies, etc. (586);…

Include "Research Guides" as one of the available Content Types in the advanced search.
This was prompted by Alan Cockerill's suggestion in the Summon mailing list for limiting search results to libraries LibGuides by using the "Research Guides" content type. It can be done via post-search faceting, but the advanced search form doesn't show "Research Guides" as a checkbox option for content types. It'd be nice to see that there.

Set up ‘search within’ functionality for ProQuest One Literature in Summon
Would it be possible to set up 'search within' functionality in Summon for the One Literature database? I understand that this is not currently possible at present so have been recommended to suggest this via the Ideas Exchange.

Apply Open Access Indicator only when link in search result is open access
Because article-level linking is not yet available for some open access databases, Summon is providing links in to non-open access sources while displaying the Open Access Indicator which is confusing for those searching Summon without the credentials for accessing licensed resources. Example: http://tinyurl.com/yd6qc22w Levasseur, T. J. (2012). THE ENVIRONMENT CONTAINS NO "RIGHT" AND "LEFT": NAVIGATING IDEOLOGY, RELIGION, AND VIEWS OF THE ENVIRONMENT IN CONTEMPORARY AMERICAN SOCIETY. Journal for the Study of Religions and Ideologies, 11(33), 62-88.

Ability to exclude a facet value on the results page
At present you can only exclude a facet value by going into the "More" option. For example the Book Review content type is probably not that useful. So it would be ideal if the was a way to exclude them when the results are displayed. The default action when clicking on the Book Review content type would be to just include this type.
This is something available in Primo and would be a great addition to Summon.2 votesThis was included as part of the facet improvements for the User Interface in the December 2021 Summon Quarterly Release.

Allow facet for "Online" (electronic) vs "In the Library" (physical)
A simple facet that helps users distinguish between electronic materials online and physical materials in the library.
Using the current "Refine your Search" facet for this purpose feels problematic: "Full text online" feels jargony in our context and also isn't intuitive that it would include non-textual electronic resources such as streaming audio and video, while "Library Catalog" feels similarly jargony and includes electronic records that exist in our catalog. This facet also includes other options that are valuable, but in the facet I am proposing simplicity in having only those two options would be ideal.146 votesIncluded in the May 2021 release, with an update in the June 2021 maintenance release. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you can activate the facets (Physical Book Processing) in your Summon site, then preview the results on your preview site after a search index update (usually within 7 days).
