1. Task Widget Filtered by Processing Department

   UNSW is a library with multiple processing departments and during peak Leganto processing times clicking through the Task Widget - Reading Lists/Citations to identify the workload for each dept creates an additional step in the process.

   We do have the ability to filter the Reading Lists etc. by Processing Department once we have clicked on the option in the list, for e.g. Unassigned - Ready for Processing, however it would be helpful if those filters could be applied to the main menu Task Widget - Reading Lists/Citations, visible on the ALMA home page, so that only the options requiring our action are available in the first instance.

   The benefit of filtering the Task Widget - Reading Lists/Citations is that we are presented with the true workload for each value in these options without having to make additional clicks. Giving the Task Widgets intended purpose, of providing the workload at a glance, to libraries with more than 1 processing department.

2. Deactivate filters in “lists” area and filters related to citations inside the lists

   We would like to have the possibility to deactivate filters in “lists” area and filters related to citations inside the lists.
   Some of these types of filters are not relevant for us.

   For Examples:

   CITATION FILTERS:
   - DUE DATE: no due date in our workflows. Once published, lists and citations have to be always available to our patrons.
   - STATUS: citation status are related to the activities carry out by librarians, instructors don’t need to see them
   LIST FILTERS:

3. Availability of “Request digitization”: Take item policies and existence of a digitization department into account

   In the Leganto UI, the option “request digitization” is sometimes displayed although digitization is actually not possible. There are two different cases:

   1. he item belongs to a library without digitization department.
      If an item belongs to a library without digitization department, the option “request digitization” is still available in the associated citation in Leganto. If an instructor tries to send a digitization request for such an item, an error message is displayed.

   2. The item has an item policy that does not allow digitization.
      If an item associated with a citation in Leganto has a “no copy” item policy, the option “Request digitization” is still available. If an instructor sends a digitization request for such an item, the request is actually sent to Alma and has to be declined by the library.

   It would be a very user-friendly improvement if the option “request digitization” would not be available in a citation if one of the cases above applies. Additionally, this would be a considerable step towards a desired harmonization of the two products Leganto and GetIt in Primo in terms of their behavior in alike situations.

5. Zotero/Mendeley import: display position in list

   In the results list of “Search the library”, the current position in the list is indicated, e.g. “Showing 20 out of 311,444 results”. In the results list of “Import references from Mendeley” and “Import references from Zotero, however, this information is not displayed. 6. In Analytics (Leganto Student Usage subject area), possibility to query Statistical Category X fields under Student Details

   (initially filled by the « Statistical Category X » fields from the Users subject area).

   Right now, to get data about the usage of a reading list by students, we need to query the fields which are only available under the dimension « Student details » of the « Leganto student usage » subject area. Those fields are filled only after signing the Ex-Libris form « Leganto student success measurements service ».
   It would be interesting that the statistical category fields only could be filled in order to extract statistical analyses without having to know the students identity. Therefore it would not be necessary to fill the form.

   (initially filled by the « Statistical Category X » fields from the Users subject area).

7. Make subjects usable

   Currently the only way to assign a subject to a list is in the Leganto interface.

   The function to assign subjects should be added to:
   1. Alma when working on an individual list
   2. Alma - bulk assign a subject from the reading list task list - select reading lists then 'manage selected' then choose from the list of defined subjects
   3. Reading List bulk update job
   4. Instructor rollover operations - copy to be supported
   5. Course loader rollover - On rollover copy subject

   This would enable librarians to help with assigning disciplines/study areas to lists, and not leave it to instructors who don't even know the field exists because it is hidden away in "Edit list", and make maintenance sustainable.

   USE CASE: we have an academic trying to encourage greater transparency of resource lists across a whole program. If we published all the lists for maximum visibility in Leganto within our institution, then being able to search for all lists in the discipline would be useful.
   It would also enhance use of sample lists by making them more visible.

   In addition to being able to search, it would be great if we could create shareable links to all lists with a specific subject assigned.

   Maintaining subjects is not sustainable without the tools, and therefore these fields are under utilised.

8. Zotero/ Mendeley Import: Add option to select a folder/ a collection

   In Zotero and Mendeley, users can organize their references in folders or collections. In Leganto, however, citations from reference management systems can only be imported at the library level (everything). Especially for users with extensive reference collections, it would be much clearer if a specific folder or a specific collection could be selected when importing citations into Leganto.

9. Add option to import citations in bulk to "Search the Library" and "Import References"

   Currently, it is only possible to add one single citation at a time to a reading list when using "Search the Library" or "Import References from Zotero/from Mendeley". It would be very convenient if instructors could select multiples citations in the results list and import them in bulk into the reading list.

10. When creating a new list, provide sort options for numbered templates

    Some instructors want to create lists that show the most recent content first, so that their students can easily access the current week’s resources. For example, in a 12-week semester, they divide the list into sections by week and list them in reverse order (i.e. Week 12, Week 11, Week 10, etc.). They release each section at the start of the corresponding week, so that students can focus on the relevant content.

    However, currently there is no easy way to create such a list using a numbered template. The default order for the numbered template is ascending (i.e. Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, etc.) and the instructor has to manually change the order of the sections if they want to reverse it, which they can only do after the list is created. This is a tedious and time-consuming process that could be simplified.

    Adding a sort order option for numbered templates would address this issue. This option would allow the instructor to choose whether they want to use the ascending or the descending order for the sections. For example, if they select the descending order, the template would automatically generate the sections in reverse order (i.e. Week 12, Week 11, Week 10, etc.). This would make it easier for the instructor to create a list that shows the most recent content first and save them a lot of hassle. 11. Usability of Favorites in LTI view - How to access them

    Using the LTI view (Blackboard Ultra site) the left menu (Lists and Favorites) is invisible which confines the view to the context of the LMS site the user is in. I can see why we would want to do that. However, it has the effect of making it virtually impossible for educator or student to be able to use their favorites.

    Scenario: Educator adds a citation to their list in the LTI view, then decides it is so good they want to add it to their other lists. They copy it to their favorites.... then what! (They could just copy to other lists, but maybe it’s easier path from favorites to just suggest it a few times and then visit the list and decide where it best fits)

    Scenario: Student is viewing their reading list and decides they want to use a citation in their assignment. They save it to their favorites.... then what!

    Scenario: Educator wants students to suggest readings to the list, and tries to show them how to do it in class. Umm.... not sure how to get to Favorites.

    Their only option is to open in a new tab - but they don't know that, there is no clue.

    A couple of visual clues to students and educators to escape the LTI view if they want to:

    1. When the user saves a favorite, modify the confirmation message to give them a link/hint how to view manage their favourites and open in a new tab.

    2. Display an LTI-customised view of the user icon at top right with links to:

    3. My lists [external link icon and/or text "in new tab"

    4. My favorites [external link icon and/or text "in new tab"

    Hide the "logout" menu option in LTI view.

    If these personalised My Lists/My Favorites were also added to the standalone (not LTI) view then they should not open a new tab, but just work the same way as the left menu.

13. Make the template wizard accessible

    Make the template wizard in the new UI accessible at any point during the creation of the list, not just at the initial setup stage. This would mean that if the list creator removed everything from their list to start again, or wanted to have merged templates (ie a week by week and a bibliography) they wouldn't have to create every section individually from that point.

14. Scheduling the dates of visibility of citations/attachments in NUI

    We want to limit the dates between which citations or attachments can be viewed/downloaded. This is available in the classic interface but not in the new one.

    It is usefulI when you (librarian or instructor) want to prepare the complete reading list at the beginning of the course, to set the dates on which citations/attachments will be made visible to users. This is good when your course works with case studies in a big way, for example.
    In this situation, or similar, it is important because you are working with materials which students have to download and you don't want to overwhelm the students with too much workload at once and you don't want to have to schedule in your calendar the days when you have to activate the resources, because you already have your planning created since the beginning of the course and you know exactly when you want these materials to be displayed/available for download.
    It is not an alternative to hide/unhide whole sections, because it would sometimes result in a lot of sections created only for 1 citation under each other.

    Today, with the NUI, instructors are losing the control they used to have over their lists when using classic interface.

15. Add Workflow Notes to Reading List Citation Slips

    Currently, Reading list citation slips are not configured to include Workflow Notes, which means processing instructions are not included on the pull slips and that information must be retrieved separately. It would expedite reading list processing to have Workflow Notes included in these slips (which currently include basic bibliographic information, call number, and bar code).

16. A designated field for E-locators in citations

    We would like a separate field for e-locators in Leganto citations.

    The publisher's use of this identifier is increasingly common, and included in several reference styles, such as APA. Today, the e-locator appears in the page number field, which can be confusing. The field should also be included in the export to RIS and to reference managers like Endnote.

    A designated e-locator field would also be useful for Primo displays.

18. Remove the fields "Required Chapters" and "Total Chapters Count" from the Copyright Attributes page when Book Extract is the citation materi

    Our Copyright Officer has informed the library to make a change in how we label our representations and to use Book Extract as the citation material type if only a few pages of a chapter are being used. This is a change for the library as we previously used Book Chapter and labelled the representation to indicate that only a part of the chapter has been used - example: Scan of chapter 3 [in part], p. 26-35: Moral constraints and the state.

    This is to ensure that the two fields are not accidently used by Library staff.

19. Option to exclude facets when searching the library

    When adding a reference from the library search, you can filter based on "Type" and "Available here" facets in Leganto. This is great, but it would also be helpful if you could exclude facets as well, like you can in Primo. For instance, if you don't want Open Access records you should be able to exclude them. The "Type" facets are usually mutually exclusive (so isn't as relevant to exclude), but this is not true for the "Available here" facets. References can for instance be both "Open access" and "Peer reviewed" at the same time.

    Our specific use case is that Open Access records are sometimes lacking certain metadata and/or take focus away from records that are from purchased electronic collections that we want to use. We have cases where records from Institutional Repositories are chosen instead of the publishers hosted version, which can be detrimental in some cases. Therefore, it would be beneficial to be able to exclude these records in order to better see which record should be chosen.

    When adding a reference from the library search, you can filter based on "Type" and "Available here" facets in Leganto. This is great, but it would also be helpful if you could exclude facets as well, like you can in Primo. For instance, if you don't want Open Access records you should be able to exclude them. The "Type" facets are usually mutually exclusive (so isn't as relevant to exclude), but this is not true for the "Available here" facets. References can for instance be both "Open access" and "Peer reviewed" at the same time.

20. More file type options for Reading List bulk export

    At the moment it's possible to bulk export Reading Lists by running the job called 'Reading List Bulk Update' and selecting 'Export to PDF'.

    Would be beneficial if we can export to other types such as .lgn or .ris. As those files would serve better as 'baclups' and can also be imported back into Leganto
