Increase the number of page range fields for Book Extract citation type
Colleagues whose day job involves working with Leganto have expressed interest in being able to add more page range fields for the Book Extract citation type.
At the moment there are only two page range fields that can be made use of, which use these types:
• Start Page
• Start Page2
• End Page
• End Page2
We would like to be able to add at least 4 page ranges, so have these field types available also:
• Start Page3
• End Page3
• Start Page4
• End Page4
Thank you for your consideration!

The limited number of fields is also an issue for us when it comes to copyright - often the automated copyright rules we have set up don't work on extracts because we can't add all the page ranges in a format the system can parse.

Great additional suggestions, Deborah and Catherine. Thanks for your input.

Yes, it is restrictive to have only two fixed fields. I would like it to reflect the UK Digital Content Store request form (the DCS being the place where digitisations and copyright are managed), where we are able to enter a string of page numbers in a single field and it calculates the total, eg '4-7,9,12,15-21'. Often requests are for a set of short extracts, it is not practical to place new requests for each of these and makes the list unwieldy. If the Leganto request popup could reflect the DCS form it would make integration much smoother. Currently the requester has to put the list of page numbers in the notes field of the request, and we then manually add these to the correct field in the DCS. It would be great if it automatically populated from the initial request form.

Ideally it wouldn't be a fixed number of start/end pages - there'd just be an open-ended option to add a new pair. There's always one lecturer who needs to copy pages 3, 17, 20-21, 78, 101, 128, and 142-144 of a textbook. I expect this would involve a bit of re-architecturing, but it makes the most sense to cover the full range of potential use cases.
