How can we improve Rosetta?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. I want to search all members of a specific set that I created on Search for Object page(not on Sets page)

I want to search all members of a specific set that I created on Search for Object page(not on Sets page) to and and export(view) more columns like Date (DC), Is part of (DC), etc.

The set has its ID so we though it's possible to search the itemized set itself by building a search query.

    • "Unassign" functionality in Permanent TA

In SIP TA (Submissions – Technical Issues) it is possible to unassign a SIP that is assigned to somebody else by clicking on “Unassign”.
However, this is not possible in Permanent TA (Data Management – Technical Issues) – there is no way to unassign an IE that is assigned to another person. This can be an issue if that person is absent for a longer period and the IE remains blocked. The only possible workaround I can think of is to change the other person’s password and use his/her user account to unassign the IE – but that’s certainly not…

      • Scheduled Reports with Institution in Email-Header

When Scheduling Reports for different Institutions, the Email received does not contain any information about where the Data comes from. If you want to know IEs in permanent, you would not know wheter it is about Institution A or B. It would be great if the Institution or a custom information-text-content would be sent either with the email or be included in the report itself. The Report in my special case is "Repository Stats" in "Data Management".

        • Export of full-lifecycle IE including all versions

Something Rosetta is currently lacking is the possibility to export full IEs including all versions. Current export functionality only exports the latest version of an IE.

          Two use cases for this functionality of full lifecycle IE export: exit scenario;
batch export of IEs post migration action to perform external analysis / comparison of different versions of the same digital object across different versions.

          • Bitstream information in Bitstreams Tab

Researchers often use zip or tar files in order to upload large amounts of research data in various formats. Bytestream extraction is a useful tool for analyzing the content of these container files. The resulting bitstream information is written in the METS and displayed in the BitStreams Tab in the Web Editor. The information includes BS ID, file name, file original path, extension, mime type and format ID (if successfully identified).

We would like to suggest the following improvements for the BitStreams Tab and the bitstream information in general:

            1) Include Bitstream size. The relevant values can be found in…

            • Recalculate fixity SHA2 and insert into Rosetta

We have around 22,000,000 files that we would like to recalculate a new fixity hash, but this time it would be SHA256. We need a good way of getting this fixity back into Rosetta. We would like to store it along with the SHA1 value we previously generated. We are aware that the SHA1 fixity is located in xml clob data in the hdemetadata table. We are wondering if there is another location for this SHA1 value in another table.

              • Support the ability for Rosetta to request IEs in batches

We would like Rosetta to work more efficiently when the storage layer is tape based, particularly for exports. Could Rosetta request IEs in batches from the storage layer. when exporting large collections from tape a file is retrieved from tape one at a time.

                • Rework/rewrite AIP update functionality

Since version 4, Rosetta includes a feature called AIP update. This feature is used mainly by libraries to alter data in the permanent repository, which might be necessary for a number of reasons. Metadata might need updating due to a typo or due to new research results, new files that weren't included in the original ingest might be added, or existing files might be altered with higher resolution versions or to repair defective files. Libraries tend to use this feature, because they regularly ingest SIPs that include a minimal set of metadata. Later, when full metadata have been allotted or…

                    • Flagging SIPs as Deleted when all IEs are deleted/purged

One of our institutions keeps track of the ingested SIPs in an external application. Here, it is currently not easily possible to trace SIPs for which all IEs have been deleted.

When deleting all IEs of a SIP in Permanent, the SIP itself cannot be found in a search in Permanent - however, the SIP itself is not flagged as deleted in the SIP Report and its status remains as "Permanent/Finsished" when querying for SIP Status via the API. External applications therefore can't easily see that the SIP actually doesn't exist anymore.

For external integrations it would be helpful to…
