  2. "Did you mean" has no option for selecting, "No."

A librarian submitted the following question:

"If you do a search in the catalog for Andrew Lyght (he's an artist), you get the message "Do you mean Andrew Light?" and a whole bunch of results that have lyght spelled "light". There is no option to say "No, I mean Lyght."

I think the Google-like functionality of "did you mean..." is a good
direction to go in, but there needs to be an option to respond to that question, especially when what the catalog is guessing is wrong. Overall, this isn't a helpful implementation as it currently works."

  3. proximity search operator for fulltext search in Primo Central

A strong argument for a discovery index compared to a bibliographic database is the incorporation of full text in the index. I have not found an actual number or a percentage how many Primo Central collections are full text searchable. But we all know: it is significant. Since this year all Primo Central searches will always expand to full text.

The most powerful feature for full text search is proximity.

  4. Ignore call number prefix (subfield k) when indexing for Call Number Browse

Primo's browse search "By Library of Congress Call Numbers" includes the call number prefix (holdings record field 852 $k) when generating the browse list. At UGA, we use that prefix for oversize volumes (Folio, Ff), and for a variety of branch locations, special statuses and shelving areas (Juv, Ref, Vet Med, etc.).

As a result, any holdings with a prefix do not show up alongside holdings in the same call number range, essentially hiding many titles from patrons interested in browsing the shelf list. (This would be an issue for staff as well, but shelf list browsing works correctly in…

  5. new option/checkbox: "expand my results with synonyms"

The Primo Search Engine includes synonyms by default to expand the result list. This often leads to results which are fuzzy and hardly explainable.

Instead of including synonyms by default we want to see an option to include synonyms by explicit user decision.

This option ("expand my result using synonyms") could be included into the facets section or should be visible close to the search button.

  6. alerts based on a range of call numbers

We would like our users to be able to define an alert in primo, based on a range of call numbers – for example:
    lc = "ds67->ds79.99" .

  7. Can Ex_libris work with publishers to enable OA articles in hybrid journals to be discoverable ?

Currently if we do not subscribe to a journal (normally a hybrid OA titles) which has open access articles the article access is not discoverable as available during a search of Primo - is there any way to identify these articles as being available ?

  8. Add a pre-filter for Peer-reviewed Journals

Our students would like the option to pre-filter their searches to articles published in Peer-reviewed journals. The current Primo configuration only allows this filter as a refining facet after searching.

  9. Combine permalinks with citations in Primo

In Primo, the ability to copy citations is very useful, as is the ability to copy permalinks for individual records. When helping a patron via virtual reference (chat or email), it is cumbersome to, first, open and copy the citation, and second, open copy the permalink. It would make more sense to either hyperlink the citation with a stable link, or include the permalink after the citation in the same window.
