Pair display of 880 fields with their linked MARC field
When a record includes multiple 880 fields paired with multiple entries from the same MARC field, for example multiple 700 and 880-700 fields, Primo VE displays all the 700 fields and then all the 880-700 fields. This display loses the link between the two fields, and a user cannot easily connect the non-Latin script (in the 880 field) with the paired Romanised form (in the 700 field).
In the MARC record the link between fields, such as a 700 and its paired 880-700, is coded in the $6. If the Primo VE display normalisation rules syntax allowed you to compare values in the $6 from the 700 and 880-700 fields and create the pnx display fields for 700 and 880-700 in the same rule, then the linkage could be displayed through the ordering of the fields (i.e. 700, 880-700, 700, 880-700, …).

Our institution would also be interested in this change, as well.
We're aware that there may be alternative viewpoints, as we were informed by Ex Libris that other institutions made "the specific request ... to have the fields sorted by language in the Primo display so that it would be easier for the users to navigate."
We would certainly be interested to learn more about this preference from others, but the staff and users of our consortium find the current display to be confusing. Thank you!

I agree with this idea as well. This was reported to us as a problem in our catalog:

The linking in the MARC record is correct and I agree that the linking should be preserved in the Primo display.

I absolutely agree with this idea, and was surprised to learn this problem exists. Example in our catalog:
https://search.library.ucla.edu/permalink/01UCS_LAL/1763hao/alma9997032535706533The underlying MARC record has correctly linked 700/880 fields, with $6 showing the relation between each pair of fields. That relation should be preserved in the public display.
I've added screenshots with the correct MARC display and the incorrect Primo VE display. -

Hi Manu, here is an example from our catalogue. All the Romanised forms are displayed and then the non-Latin script, so the links between the 700 and 880-700 fields are lost. I also attached the relevant MARC fields.

Hi Tom, could you add a link to an example?
