  1. Improved claiming functionality for resource sharing

There is a need for improving claiming functionality in resource sharing. When items are borrowed by library A from library B, it should be possible for library B to automatically claim library A when lending requests are overdue.

    More details in attached file.

  2. Ability to sort Resource Sharing borrowing requests and lending requests by Request Date

Currently, the 'Created borrowing requests' list is sorted alphabetically by title. It would be really useful, for when we have a large number of requests, to be able to also sort it by request date.

  3. Send a confirmation by e-mail for each resource sharing request

When the user fill in the form to receive a book by the Inter-Library Loan (ILL), it would be nice if a confirmation by e-mail could be sent to him.
Our users were accustomed to receive this sort of e-mail and it's a deficiency for them.

  4. Resource Sharing Borrowing Recalled Item Due Time

When Recalling a Loaned Borrowing Item, there is a Due Date but not a Due Time, as a result, the system enters the Due Time as the time the recall was placed and not the library's closing time.

Pls. let us know what the solution is.

In order to enter the correct Due Time, we have to go into Fulfillment and Change the Date - which sends a second letter to the patron.

It would be very helpful if the Recall screen also allows the Due Time.

  5. Resource Sharing - Status of Renewed Lending Request not clear

After Renewing a Lending request the status automatically updates to "Received by Partner" - it would be more helpful if the status updated to 'Renewal Accepted".

  6. Allow "ignore_lender_due_date" setting to be customized per resource sharing partner

Currently the "ignorelenderduedate" setting in the Alma Customer Parameters Mapping Table is a global setting; it applies to all resource sharing partners. This is problematic for consortia who have resource sharing partners for consortia members, as well as a resource sharing partner for ILLiad.

    Setting "ignore
lenderduedate" to "true" works for our consortia resource sharing standard checkout, but ILLiad due dates must be entered manually.
Setting "ignorelenderduedate" to "false" works for the ILLiad lender due date, but then consortia due dates must be entered manually.
    If "ignore
    lenderduedate" could be…

  7. Show a confirmation/warning about completing a lending request when using scan in items

It would be a good enhancement to get a warning or a confirmation that a request is about to be set to completed, when we scan in an item that is currently in a resource sharing process. Because we use RFID, we have had multiple occurences of scanning in a document that already has the status Shipped Physically again by mistake, only to have the lending request irreversibly set to Request Completed, without the item ever being received by the Borrowing library. This means we have to contact the owning library and ask them to resubmit the request.

    When using…

  8. Closed Library Management TOU apply to Resource Sharing Request

Currently, the RS Lending Request item due date does not take into consideration of the library closed days as there is no "Closed Library Due Date Management" option in the Lending Resource Sharing Rule TOU. As a result, the due date may fall on a library closed date where clients are unable to return the item. I have received confirmation from ExLibris (SF354784) that this will need to be an enhancement request rather than a bug fix.

Hey all, with the Alma May 2025 Feature Release, It is now possible to configure system behavior for managing a lending request's due date if the calculated date falls on a closed date. This enables the library to ensure that the lending requests' due date is not calculated to fall on dates when the library is closed.

Thank you all for supporting this idea.

  9. Limit Resource Sharing Requests per academic year

It would be great if Alma included an overridable limit to the number of resource sharing requests a user could submit for an academic year. It would also be great if limits can be set either on the patron type or user group.

  10. Add an "automatically print slip" toggle to the Resource Sharing Receiving Items page

For campuses that have a library that is also a Resource Sharing library, we could use a toggle switch to automatically print hold shelf slips when we receive items. Because Resource Sharing libraries do not require an extra scan at "scan in items", this would help speed up our workflow.

  11. Report of Outstanding Borrowing Requests

We would like a to be able to: 1. Create a report of outstanding borrowing requests, 2. Automatically send the claim letters by email to the partners, 3. Update the status of the requests to Claimed.

    Completed  ·  Dana Moshkovits responded

As of March release for peer-to-peer resource sharing partners, you can trigger an automatic claim letter when a configured period of time is reached. For example, when the Automatic Claim check box is selected and the Time to Claim (days) field is set to 7, if a request was sent 7 days ago and the request’s status is still Sent, a claim letter is automatically triggered and the request status is set to Claimed.
You can also configure an option to send a cancel message and continue through the rota.

In case of an Email/SLNP partner, the letter is sent by email.

For ISO requests, the notice is sent in a General Message. The text in the message can be configured

  12. Adding "Level of Service" to Resource Sharing Borrowing/Lending Request Facet

Currently, when placing a Resource Sharing Requests (both Borrowing and Lending), clients are able to select a "Level of Service" e.g. Core, Rush, Express. The Borrowing/Supplying library will then base on this level of service to prioritize the workload. At the moment, Level of Service is not available as a facet for filtering in Alma. The impact is that library staff need to go through every requests to find out what level of service the client has requested. When the Borrowing and Lending Request list contains hundreds of requests, this task is impractical and defeat the purpose of having "level…

  13. Change default of Automatic Print Slip from No to Yes in Alma RS

When we are processing Lending Requests, we prefer to send the Shipping Slip with every item we loan/email. The information on the slips helps the requesting library to receive the item as it has their External Identifier, their address details, information regarding their request etc.

We would like to have the Automatic Print Slip default change from No to Yes. Can it be made as a default of Yes?

  14. recall

Update Lending and Borrowing Status when Recalls of Resource Sharing items are cancelled

Currently, once an item is recalled in Resource Sharing, it stays in that status even after the recall is cancelled by the patron. If this could have the same functionality as regular Fulfillment (which can be configured to have the item's original return date applied if recall is dropped), that would be ideal.

  15. Payment of requests in Resource Sharing

It would be great to have the facility to assign a fund code and encumbrance against resource sharing requests in the same way you do in acquisitions . Then when you receive your invoice from the supplier the amount charged/paid could then be reflected as a negative encumbrance against the assigned fund code.

  16. Ability to assign Resource Sharing Borrowing Requests

There is currently the ability to assign Resource Sharing Lending Requests, but not Borrowing Requests.
This would be a useful feature- it would ensure there is no double handling across different campuses, certain requests can be escalated to a manager if they require approval, and once a request has been processed up until a certain point it can be placed back into the unassigned list until further intervention is needed.

  17. Include Fulfillment Notes when Shipping items in Resource Sharing

It would be nice if pop-up fulfillment notes on an item record were attached to a resource sharing request when an item is shipped, much like the barcode currently does. So if a damaged book has a note saying "Underlining noted," that note would attach to the request record so that the borrowing institution could see it. This would make it easier for the people processing on either end to know whether an item shipped with damage, or a set shipped with a certain amount of items, etc.

    Hi all,

thank you for supporting this idea.

I'm happy to inform you that starting from the August 2025 Alma Release, When the lender ships an item with a fulfillment note, the note is propagated to the borrower's side and assigned as a fulfillment note to the borrower's temporary item.

This enables resource sharing lenders to communicate important fulfillment related information about shipped items so that borrowers can take that into account when loaning to the patrons.

Read more in the Alma Release Notes.
