allow researcher to edit an asset
Sometimes researchers find errors in assets that have already been approved (either assets that have come in through SmartHarvest or submitted by the researchers themselves). Rather than have them email an admin and request the edit, it would be more efficient if they could edit the asset and (re)submit it for re-approval.

Bulk update/delete activities
While one can load activities (e.g., courses being taught) via spreadsheet, one cannot modify or delete existing ones except manually one by one. The ability to remove a set of activities in bulk would allow an institution to refresh data of faculty activities at scale. (Support for activities in the API could also serve this use case.)

Ability to create a customise CV at the institution level
We'd like to be able to customise a CV template at the institution level so that we can choose the desired fields/assets/activities to export.
Additionally, we'd like to be able to change the labels of the sections on the CV. We found a labels table (CV Researcher Categories) but this doesn't seem to change the labels either in the Portal view or on the exported CV.6 votes -
Improve management of previously affiliated researchers
When a researcher leaves your institution, the only way to presently change their status from "Affiliated" to "Previously Affiliated" is to purge their user record from Alma.
However, there may be reasons for an institution to retain the user's record even though they are no longer an affiliated researcher. For example, the user may be an alumnus or emeritus who retains certain library privileges or has fines associated with their account.
As a result, institutions need a way to transition researchers to "Previously Affiliated" that doesn't require purging their user record.
One possibility would be to add a toggle to…

Allow researchers to manage notification preferences
Currently, only library staff can subscribe or unsubscribe researchers from Esploro notifications. Researchers must contact the library and library staff must update their notification settings in their researcher record. This workflow is inefficient for both parties. To save time and effort, researchers should be able to manage their notification preferences directly from their researcher profile without library intervention.

Link Media Mention to Asset
Media Mentions are usually related to a specific asset, not just a specific researchers. It would make the system more useful if a relationship with a specific asset were possible

Customise tabs on Researcher Profile
We would like to be able to showcase a researcher's Teaching and Supervision and Service and Engagement. therefore we would like to be able to add and edit tabs across the top of the profile. Teaching and Supervision would include current and completed HDR students, Teaching experience as Unit Assessor, Course Coordinator etc. Service and engagement would be somewhere to include editorial board membership, committee membership both internal and external, Working party memebership etc.

Configurable forms
I would like to see the deposit forms and related workflows configurable by each institution as they see fit. Configurable forms will potentially allow institutions to expand the usage of the tool for other collections, such as impact cases and specialised collection which must follow certain rules. It is a key feature for the system to stay ahead in the market.

Display book subtitle on researcher profile
When we add a book for a researcher by ISBN, the system correctly puts the book title in the title field and the book subtitle in the subtitle field (example: Title = Epidemic invasions
Subtitle = yellow fever and the limits of Cuban independence, 1878-1930). However, on the researcher record, only the title (Epidemic invasions) displays. When you click the title to get to the Esploro research portal, both the title and subtitle correctly display.Because our profiles are not public, we can't share a link with this example, but you can see it on a Brandeis profile: https://scholarworks.brandeis.edu/esploro/profile/jonathan_sarna/output/publication.book?institution=01BRAND_INST

Move name variants and other researcher information when moving all assets and grants
Right now when you move all assets and grants to another researcher record, you lose any unique information from the researcher record such as name variants, affiliations, areas of interest, research topics. You have to re-input this information into the researcher record you retain.
Efficiency would be increased if unique information from a researcher record, including identifiers, moved along with assets and grants.

Indication of suppressed asset on Researcher Profile
Currently, there is no indication for the researcher to know that an asset has been suppressed via the back-end beyond the fact that it is not visible in the Research Portal (as it still displays as normal in the Researcher Profile when signed in).
It would be good if there was an indication, similar to the notification when an asset is hidden, so that a researcher is aware that a particular asset has been suppressed in the back-end by the Librarian.

Afiliations in profiles should have more flexibility
We would like researchers to be able to add an affiliation, whether or not that affiliation is listed in GRID or other system. This would allow them to list commercial entities, as well as smaller organizations that may not be included.
We also do not want the list of titles in affiliations connected to our internal list of titles. Some of the terms (Assistant/Associate/Professor are fairly standard in the US, but other of our local titles are not as standard in at every institution, and definitely may be different internationally.
13 votesHi all,
This ability has been recently added - when selecting the "Enable creation of new external organization" check box in the setting, the user can add new affiliations that are not part of the controlled list.
To see all the places where new affiliations can be added - please see in our online help.

Include DOI and PMID in brief display on researcher profile
On the researcher profiles, it would be very helpful to have the DOI (as a link) and the PMID (also as a link) display on the researcher profile. Our faculty members currently display these on their existing profiles and they are both considered standard parts of citations.

Duplicate publication submission alert
When a researcher is submitting an asset via the researcher profile add content button I would like to see Esploro match to an existing asset. Particulary if the match is on a unique identifier such as a doi for electronic assets or an ISBN for a book. Currently the assets submitted via the profile need to be searched in the backend by library staff to ensure that the asset doesnot already exist in the repository. When the researcher enters a doi and there is an exact match they should be given the option to "display this asset in my profile".…
