Display Esploro Asset Creation Date in Portal
I received the business/use case below from Carla Cher, the Manager, Intellectual Property and Commercialisation here at RMIT University for displaying the record creation date in a publicly available asset record on the portal.
Carla wrote, "this is extremely important information because our team needs to know the date something is published as this may have an effect on whether we can apply for a patent or not for particular areas of technology. In addition, patent offices will search the database for the thesis when examining a patent application and may reject an application because they consider the date it was published is the date listed on the thesis, as they can only see the date of the thesis, not the date it was actually published."
Our previous repository software automatically displayed the asset record creation date on all records and served the needs of our IP and Commercialisation group, amongst other users (including repository staff and researchers) very well.
