How can we improve RefWorks?

  1. Specify when multiple shared first-authors or selectively modifying a given citation

    Nowaday, there are more and more issues with sharing of first-authorship. In our field, it is recommended to cite all first-authors.

    Here are two articles:

  2. Migrate non-institutional users to new platform

    I created my initial refworks account after I filed my dissertation and was granted a "lifetime" account that is independent of an institution. I would like to migrate to new refworks, but there is not currently support for this type of user -- non-institutional accounts -- to upgrade. Could you please allow us to migrate to new refworks?

  3. Have a public URL for sharing projects

    In folders, it is possible to share with those who are not affiliated with the university. Is it possible to have a public URL option available when sharing projects?

    Thank you for your valuable feedback. We won't be able to address this idea in our planned roadmap. We are committed to our users and are focusing on current goals and most requested features.

  4. Repair display error in spacing between surname and initials

    When importing a reference it displays correctly in the centre pane. However, when using that reference 'in text' it does not utilise the 'et al' option for numerous authors. One has open Refworks, edit the entry, add a space between the surname and initial/first name for each name and then save the entry before returning to the document to continue.

  7. Reliability and trustworthiness

    I am working with a folder containg 20k+ references (never again!). The data is locked in to RefWorks because of the size of the folder (never again, as I mention). I am attempting to export .ris files with 1000 items per export.

    Paging through the data, it takes on average 1 minute to move from page to page. If something goes wrong, you cannot maintain your place in the list, the display returns to the beginning, showing 50 per page.

    The export usually downloads a .ris file to the downloads folder. However, frequently, instead, the file isn't doanloaded and instead…

    RefWorks does not impose export limits. You may export all references in your Project at any time.
    Export times will vary based on number of references selected for export and connection speed.  A library of 150,000 references may take about 30 minutes to export.

  9. Realize folders and search function in Quick Cite

    Quick Cite is only useful if the number of references in your account is limited, as it isn't possible to select a folder or search for a reference. Now the only possibility is to scroll through the whole list of all references. It would be a great improvement if you could select a folder and search for a particular reference.

  11. Improvement of Citation in Arabic

    We use APA Style 6 for our research
    The Citation in Arabic does not appear correct in Arabic. It is required that only the last name and year are included, but here the full name is included in the citation, but the list of references in Arabic appears well and this applies to references entered manually or downloaded from databases. Please improve the citation in Arabic

  12. Link button in table view

    Right now to view a source you have to click on the source, go to the sidebar that pops up, scroll down, and copy the URL text into the browser address bar. Putting a link to the source right in the table view for all your sources seems incredibly simple.

  14. The Journal Name shown as Null

    I have recently faced a problem when I imported multiple references and at the end when I made the bibliography, some of the references were showing journal name as NULL, while on doi link the journal name was OK. I had to write 5 journal names by myself out of total 32 references. Do not know what went wrong though.

  20. Make it works

    There are many potential improvements related with notes, how to find words, etc. But I would be happy if, at least, the poor functionalities that it has, could work properly.
    After contacting support service months ago, problems remains the same or even worse.
