Content

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).

How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.

The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

  1. Naxos Music Library - U.S. CDI collections

Some of the content in the CDI collections for Naxos Music Library, Naxos Music Library Jazz, and Naxos Music Library - World are not available in the United States due to copyright restrictions. OCLC has separate collections in WorldShare Manager for NML content that is available to U.S. subscribers. I am requesting that similar collections be added to CDI that contain only the records for content U.S. subscribers can access.

    Hello,

We will check with Naxos if they can provide a separate feed for their collections that are suitable for U.S customers only.

  2. CDI collection for Elsevier Open Access articles

Could you please add a CDI database only collection with links in record for Elsevier open access articles?

There is no longer an Elsevier open access knowledge base collection https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/574345-content/suggestions/43048611-add-elsevier-open-access-collection-to-alma-cz

And I think this would work better as a CDI collection given how many OA articles there are in hybrid journals.

For example, 76,000 archival articles were made open as the result of a large United States Library consortia agreement:
    https://scholarlykitchen.sspnet.org/2022/03/16/retroactively-open-elsevier-backflips-for-nerl-agreement/

And these OA articles should be more easily discoverable via a dedicated CDI link in record collection.

  3. CDI records request for InteLex Past Masters collection

Our client University of Guelph has requested the CDI provide record coverage for the InteLex Past Masters CRKN collection (Collection ID: 615410000000002433)

MARC records for the titles included in InteLex Past Masters website directly: https://www.nlx.com/marc_records/4.

  5. Brepolis Library of Latin Texts [formerly Library of Latin Texts A, B]

Requesting CZ content for Brepolis Library of Latin Texts [formerly Library of Latin Texts A and B, merged by provider in 2021].

Library of Latin Texts A [collection ID: 613790000000000926) and Library of Latin Texts B [collection ID: 613790000000000922) contain outdated links and have not been updated since 2021. Metadata for both was poorer quality than what was supplied by vendor.

A customer-contributed collection (Univ. of Western Australia) for Library of Latin Texts (collection ID: 61665968760007861) results in errors for about 100 records upon activation.

    Hello,

For enrichment we will need to sign an agreement with the provider, so it might take some time.

Nonetheless, we will reach out to Brepols and ask for an updated title list for these two collections.

Regarding the contributed collection, it is managed by the contributing library. Feel free to reach out directly to them in order to communicate the necessary changes eres-lib@uwa.edu.au.

    Kind regards,

Thanks Courtney, this is indeed the right place to post these requests.

We are already working on this collection, but there are some technical details that need to be worked out.

I will post in the comments once we make some progress.

  8. Create new/separate automatic holdings collections for Taylor & Francis

I'd love to make use of the new Taylor & Francis automatic holdings feature, but the collections it points to are collections that we are already using. For certain providers, I prefer to use automatic holdings as a "back-up" to my own management. The "Taylor & Francis eBooks Complete" is the collection that the GOBI API uses. I'm also already using the "Taylor & Francis Current Content Access" for another reason. Springer and Wiley both have separate autoholdings collections. Could separate collections also be created for Taylor & Francis? Thanks!

  12. "Database for Research Thesis Catalog of Japanese Literature" for discovery

"Database for Research Thesis Catalog of Japanese Literature(国文学論文目録データベース)" is a union catalog database of research papers on Japanese literature.

    https://ronbun.nijl.ac.jp/kokubun

This database includes information on research papers on Japanese literature, Japanese language studies, and Japanese language education.

It would be helpful for researchers if Ex Libris discovery included this database as a search target.

Provider: National Institute of Japanese Literature
    Code: OFN

  16. Break up IBISWorld into sub-collections

The existing IBISWorld collection (IBISWorld Alma ID 6113915960000041 DBID 6EY) is for the entire platform, but many customers license only a subset of that content. The smaller IBISWorld collections in the CZ are not connected to a CDI DB and they aren't complete (e.g., there's no collection for the Ontario Provincial Reports). Please make more subset collections and CDI DBs for them.

  17. Add KB Collection for Hirzel Verlag Journals

Please add a KB collection for Hirzel Verlag journals on the Biblioscout platform.

It appears they only publish one journal:
ZfdA Zeitschrift für deutsches Altertum und deutsche Literatur
    https://biblioscout.net/journal/zfda
Start coverage year is 2005 and ISSN is 0044-2518.

There's already a Community Zone collection named "Biblioscout - S. Hirzel Verlag Elibrary" (collection ID 616200000000000030) but Content Support clarified that it's only for ebooks and that a journal portfolio cannot be added to it.

    Thanks.
