← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    The following collections are missing in the CZ.

    Bloomsbury Professional Law 2024

    It would be great if they could be added.

    The collections Bloomsbury Professional Law 2024  and Bloomsbury Professional UK Tax 2024  should be available in Alma CZ until June 2024.

    Regarding the other collections requested, we will reach out to Bloomsbury and ask for the metadata for them.

  4. Add Wiley Digital Archives – Royal College of Physicians Part I (WDA RCP Part I) for Summon users

    Please add the records for Wiley Digital Archives – Royal College of Physicians Part I (WDA RCP Part I) and Part II to the list of databases, as we have no option to track it at the moment, and we have access only to part I.

    It is not clear at the moment whether the existing Wiley Digital Archives : Royal College of Physicians" (OPXUM) available in the Client Center covers all/ some/none of the content of WDA RCP part I.

  9. Add target specifically for EBSCO Environment - Core coverage only

    There is only 1 target for this database in SFX KB ( EBSCOHOSTENVIRONMENTCOMPLETE ) and it includes titles with both "Core" and "Priority" coverage. "Core" coverage refers to sources which are indexed and abstracted in their entirety (i.e. cover to cover), while "Priority" coverage refers to sources which include only those articles which are relevant to the field."

    Can you create a new target that includes only the "Core" titles with complete coverage? Or remove the "Priority" titles from the existing target? I have attached a title list with the Core/Priority category in the first column. We don't…

    As part of a major agreement between Elsevier and the DEAL consortium, a large number of institutions in Germany now have access to almost the entire Elsevier journal portfolio.

    Please add CDI coverage for ProQuest Historical Newspapers: The Baltimore Afro-American (All Years) Collection ID: 614940000000000323. This collection currently covers 1893-2010.
    There is existing Link in record coverage for ProQuest Historical Newspapers: The Baltimore Afro-American (1893-1988) Collection ID: 614340000000000184, but it doesn't cover the full range of dates we are subscribed to and doesn't actually seem to be indexing any articles. For example, I cannot get this article to appear in Primo search results:

  14. Elgar AI and Disruptive Technology Subject Specific Collection needed in ALMA

    Dalhouse University has recently added some ebook collections from Elgar. One of them, "AI and Disruptive Technology Subject Specific Collection", does not look to have any options in the Community zone to activate in ALMA. Could this collection be added to ALMA, so we could activate it? There are 106 titles in this service, and there are currently no options available for adding it. Elgar has numerous collections in the system already, so one would hope this could be added quickly. Thanks, André Richard

    I can see a couple of Emerald subject collections in the CZ for 2024-2026 for Accounting, Finance and Economics (Collection ID: 61107894270004781), and Business, Management and Strategy (Collection ID: 61107894240004781). However I can't see anything for the following Emerald collections:

    Operations, Logistics & Quality

    Can these subject collections be added for the 2024-2026 JISC agreement?
