← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Protocol Exchange from Nature(Springer) is an open repository

    Protocol Exchange is an open repository. https://www.nature.com/protocolexchange/about

    However, these resources are not listed as ones that have full-text available. It is not part of an open access collection in Primo Central Index or in Alma electronic collections.

    For example: Dong Lily, & Liu Feng. (2006). Fatty acid oxidation assay. Protocol Exchange, 2006. Can be viewed for free on Nature's site, but in Primo is listed as no full text.

    I would like to be able to activate the Protocol Exchange only (not other Springer subscription products) as an open access resource.

    edepositIreland is a self-deposit service is now open to all publishers in Ireland, be they individuals, local groups, publishing houses or organisations, who wish to share their publications with the world.

    The resource is a valuable source of Government pulbications from various Irish Government Departments and State bodies.

    There are currently over 6500 documents of Irish and international interest freely available on deposit.

  4. add DNB free online ressources to Primo Central

    Dear all,

    please add the content of free online ressources from DNB (German national library) to Primo Central.

    the free online ressource have sets with names starting with:

    all sets are biult on subjact basis.

    Please show these sets as selectable packages in Primo central admininstration pages.

  6. Please add China Academic Journals (CAJ) in Primo Central Index

    CAJ of CNKI is found in SFX KB but not in PCI. We have activated CQVIP Collection in PCI as we are advised that it covers over 82% of CAJ. However, it is found that the volumes and issues for the same journal titles with same ISSN may be different on CQVIP resource platform and on CAJ, thus causing problems in accessing the full-text. Example is the article 享受發呆 / 徐赛虎, 《党员生活（湖北）》2017年第2期. It would help to alleviate the problem if CAJ is included in PCI as well.

  8. Target/Collection: University of Alberta Libraries OJS Journal Collection

    The University of Alberta Library publishes a high quality collection of over 40 open access journals, many of whom have been publishing for over a decade https://journals.library.ualberta.ca/. These titles provide globally relevant, peer-reviewed multi-disciplinary content with particular strengths in Education and Social Sciences. Improved access to these resources will benefit researchers and students world-wide. Library publishers are important partners in knowledge creation and discovery, and we would like to work with Ex Libris to include important collections like these in their discovery environments.

  9. Target / collection for New Scienist

    In the SFX KB the magazine "New Scientist" is a portfolio in the "SINGLE_JOURNALS " or"Miscellaneous E-journals" targets in SFX.

    Please consider:

    a) creating a separate target for New Scientist magazine and
    b) improving the linking level (currently journal-level)

  10. Add the Gale full Telegraph Historical Archive 1855-2000 to the CZ

    At present only the small Telegraph archive contained within Burney collection is available. It would be great to have the full Gale Historical Collection

    OSTI.GOV is the primary search tool for DOE science, technology, and engineering research and development results and the organizational hub for information about the DOE Office of Scientific and Technical Information.   16. Summon Content: Include BASE (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine) data for Open Access documents

    BASE (https://www.base-search.net/) is one of the most comprehensive search engines for scientific documents and especially contains valuable information on open access documents (flagged as such). If Summon would include this part of the BASE data many if not most of the open access repositories wouldn't have to be addressed individually. As a competing index contains the BASE data it shouldn't be impossible to get them for Summon.

  18. Add Met Opera on Demand database to Summon

    Please add the Metropolitan Opera's "Met Opera on Demand" content to the Summon index. They seem to have MARC records available for their streaming video and audio content, and it would be helpful to have this discoverable in Summon.
