We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).

How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.

The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

If you want to add an institutional repository, please open a case and follow the documentation here:

Request to enhance the bibliographic records associated with Collection ID 615500000000000062. This is an important resource offered either as a subscription or perpetual purchase from ProQuest. It should have complete bib records associated with it.

From ProQuest's own promotion page: "This database is the definitive cross-cultural resource for information on women's history. It spans more than four centuries and 15 languages and includes over two million pages in full image. Users can trace the evolution of feminism within a single country, as well as the impact of that country's feminist movement on other countries and their movements. The Gerritsen Collection…

  7. Improve the metadata of Dalloz Bibliothèque in CZ and CDI

    • Dalloz Bibliothèque
    • Collection ID : 613680000000000037
    • CDI Collection ID (DB ID): O7M
    • Material type : books (currently : 2576)

The quality of the metadata for Dalloz Bibliothèque in the CZ and CDI is extremely poor (sometimes only one title). Please, consider enriching the metadata with those coming from the SUDOC (more complete and of better quality). Enrichment could perhaps be based on the PPN (SUDOC identifier) that you have already injected into the CZ records?

  9. CDI collection for Elsevier Open Access articles

Could you please add a CDI database only collection with links in record for Elsevier open access articles?

There is no longer an Elsevier open access knowledge base collection https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/574345-content/suggestions/43048611-add-elsevier-open-access-collection-to-alma-cz

And I think this would work better as a CDI collection given how many OA articles there are in hybrid journals.

For example, 76,000 archival articles were made open as the result of a large United States Library consortia agreement:
    https://scholarlykitchen.sspnet.org/2022/03/16/retroactively-open-elsevier-backflips-for-nerl-agreement/

And these OA articles should be more easily discoverable via a dedicated CDI link in record collection.

  10. "Database for Research Thesis Catalog of Japanese Literature" for discovery

"Database for Research Thesis Catalog of Japanese Literature(国文学論文目録データベース)" is a union catalog database of research papers on Japanese literature.

    https://ronbun.nijl.ac.jp/kokubun

This database includes information on research papers on Japanese literature, Japanese language studies, and Japanese language education.

It would be helpful for researchers if Ex Libris discovery included this database as a search target.

  13. Add AIATSIS thesauri to the CZ subject authority files

As a cataloguer, I would like to see the AIATSIS thesauri made available in the Community Zone authority files for 6XX subject fields.

    BENEFITS

    • Make it easier for cataloguers to validate AIATSIS subject headings
    • Enable routine review and updates of AIATSIS subject headings through the Authority Control Task List
    • Enrich Primo searches for end users, using non-preferred terms (especially synonyms for people and language groups)
    • Promote AIATSIS thesauri to Australian libraries

While specific libraries can import and manage AIATSIS subject headings as local authorities, I think this vocabulary should be made available in the CZ authority records, since it is…
