← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.

  1. Add Open Access eBooks from the Publisher Wallstein Verlag, Göttingen, Germany to the Knowledgebases

    The Wallstein Verlag has published a number of open access eBooks in the humanities, and the number is increasing.
    It would be fantastic if these OA eBooks could be made available as an eCollection in ALMA.

    Hello,

    The Atlantic is a magazine with an ISSN, and it is more suitably represented as a portfolio.

    There is one available for activation in Miscellaneous Ejournals, Collection ID: 61111016833201000 (Portfolio ID: 531000000000708627).

    If you could please add in a comment what is the use case of having this title represented as a database, that would be very helpful.

  8. Sage Business Cases Indigenous Business Stories Project

    Sage, one of Ex Libris's existing provider partners, has launched a new free Business Cases collection, the Indigenous Business Stories Project. According to Sage, this is a free collection that features studies of businesses founded by Indigenous entrepreneurs. Sage says this collection will give students an understanding of sustainable, community-driven business practices. This collection will expand the global business perspectives represented in CZ content, and because it is free to access, many libraries will likely be interested in activating it in the CZ.     Not seeing anything in the CZ for this yet. Do see some 2025 material accessible on their platform, though on their MARC download page (https://ftp.fulcrum.org/BAR/MARC/) it looks like only the 2025 British series is ready so far. Just want to make sure International will be added!

    The Aerospace Medical Association is moving their content from Ingenta to KGL Meridian: https://asma.kglmeridian.com/. Once the content is pulled from Ingenta (originally scheduled for removal on 1/1/2025), we want to ensure users can still locate journal articles.
