Content

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).

How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.

The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

If you want to add an institutional repository, please open a case and follow the documentation here:

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

**If you are a content provider, please review the submission guides for more information on how to reach out

  1. Make Article-level Linking Immune to Provider Changes in Consortia Collections

At least in the German-speaking market (feel free to comment below if this is true for your country as well!) it is very common for consortia contracts on e-resource collections that the subscription for any title contained in the collection persists even if that title is subject to a provider change. So, typically, at the very beginning of the contract all titles of the particular collection are hosted by one and the same provider and over the time several titles get acquired by other providers without causing them to drop out of the collection - at least in terms of…

    Hello,

We’re currently analyzing the various scenarios related to this request, and believe we can implement a solution that will preserve moved titles within collections, rather than removing them.

This solution will be integrated into our collection addition and update workflows. When title lists are picked up by our automated cycle, any title with a URL that differs from the collection’s parser will be assigned a Bulk::BULKdoi parser to accommodate the change.

Developing a separate process to dynamically match and override collection parsers with dedicated ones isn’t feasible at this time, as the complexity and volume of potential matches would require a significantly more advanced logic framework than we currently support.

I will update this idea once I have a clear timeline.

    Kind regards,

    Tamar Ganor

  7. Cappelen Damm Open Access ebooks

We request the creation of a separate e-collection in Alma CZ for open access ebooks from Cappelen Damm Forskning. This is the research publishing division of Cappelen Damm Akademisk.

    https://cdforskning.no/cdf/catalog/newReleases
Via the link above, you can find their academic open access book releases. Many of these books are published in Norwegian, a language we naturally want to promote for our students and researchers.

Please note that Cappelen Damm Forskning is already a content provider in Alma CZ. The records for their OA ebooks are available through the OAPEN (613450000000000043) and DOAB (613680000000000027) e-collections. Since these records already exist in CZ…

  11. ASM Digital Library Conference Proceedings

    Hello,

We recently subscribed to the ASM Digital Library's All Access model. There is an Alma database available for this collection (ID: 61585093310000041), but there doesn't appear to be any content included. There are no portfolios attached, and the DBID yields zero results in the CDI.

Would it be possible to update this collection to include CDI content? Alternatively, it would be helpful to have a collection available that includes the ASM conference proceedings:

Heat Treating Conference and Exposition: https://dl.asminternational.org/heat-treating/
International Symposium for Testing and Failure Analysis: https://dl.asminternational.org/ISTFA
Shape Memory and Superelastic Technologies Conference: https://dl.asminternational.org/shape-memory
    International Thermal Spray Conference: https://dl.asminternational.org/itsc/

  13. Add Docuseek2 Complete Collection 4th Edition Alexander Street version to Alma CZ

Docuseek2 makes their films available both on their own Docuseek platform and on the Alexander Street platform. In general, they first make the films available on Docuseek, and then once they work out an agreement with Alexander Street, the films are added to Alexander Street as well. We heard from Docuseek2 that their 4th Edition collection is now available from Alexander Street. However, we don't see a CZ collection for the 4th Edition on Alexander Street. Could Ex Libris and Alexander Street please work together to load a collection for the Docuseek2 4th Edition on Alexander Street? It should parallel…

  18. Gale US Declassified Documents Online

Hello, can Ex Libris please work with Gale to get this collection indexed in CDI? There are ten existing database collection in the CZ, but none have portfolios, and they don't have CDI access. Gale's page for the collection states that there are over 700,000 resources in the collection, so portfolio-level access doesn't seem realistic.
