← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    Hello,

    Duke University Libraries would like the following collections added to Alma.

    1. Edward Elgar Archive C Social and Political Science
    2. Edward Elgar Archive D Social and Political Science

    A and B of these Archives already exist in Alma but it seems that C and D were somehow skipped.

  2. East View Global Press Archive Area Studies Initiative 2026

    Ex Libris's established provider partner, East View, has released the Area Studies Initiative 2026 collection. Our library, as part of the Big Ten Academic Alliance, invested in this collection, and we'd like to activate it in the Community Zone. In past years, we have activated similar collections:

  3. Intersentia 2026 Collection (Cambridge imprint)

    Hi, can a CZ collection be created for the Intersentia 2026 frontlist collection? Intersentia is an imprint of Cambridge University Press. There are CZ collections for 2021, 2022, and 2025 but not 2026.

  4. Society of Biblical Literature Complete eBook packages (De Gruyter Brill)

    Hello,

    We would like to have the eBook frontlist packages of the Society of Biblical Literature (through De Gruyter Brill) added to the Community Zone.

    There are yearly collections from 2026 up to 2016, then 2014-2015 and pre-2014.

    We've recently subscribed to two Coherent Digital collections that we don't see in the CZ. Please add:

  8. Sage Journals Backfile Packages for 2026

    Sage has released their journal package lists for 2026, see https://www.sagepub.com/journals/information-for-librarians/journals-packages. Backfile collections have been added to Alma CZ for past years. We would like to see the 2026 collections added as well. We are specifically looking for the 2026 Shallow Backfile Package 1 and Package 2.

  10. Improve full-text coverage and restore CDI fields for Factiva Academic

    Factiva is one of our primary sources for newspaper content. Previously, the link in record Factiva collection we used included CDI fields but now it does not. WIthout CDI fields, we can't even confirm whether records for Factiva content would be included in Primo search results or in Newspapers search only. Of the 4 Factiva collections currently available in the CZ, only the link in record collection for Corporate subscribers includes CDI fields.     Add the titles to Bloomsbury Theology and Religion Online: Classics of Western Spirituality Pre-1500 (code ALOKU) and Bloomsbury Theology and Religion Online: Classics of Western Spirituality Post-1500 (code AAYII) so that the titles will be discoverable in Summon results.

  13. European Mathematical Society 2026

    Please add a collection for the European Mathematical Society 2026 eBooks. We see a large collection called European Mathematical Society Books without years, but this makes it difficult to manage when we do not pick up the collection each year and the provider sells it by year.   18. New Community e-collection: Miscellaneous Free Documents

    Hello,

    we would like to have another Community Managed e-collection in the CZ. Currently, we are missing an e-collection where to contribute OA resources that do not fit in the category Journal / E-book. It could be called for example Miscellaneous Free Documents or Miscellaneous Free Resources.

    Use case: In our Consortia, we centrally activate the Miscellaneous Free... e-collections in the NZ so that the full-text links are available in the whole network. With the new e-collection we could autamatically centrally activate additional OA resources that are not journals or ebooks.

  20. Add Newer IGI Global Open Access Collections

    Could you please add newer IGI open access collections to the knowledge bases? OR add non-annual collections for OA journals and books? In the CZ their latest OA journal collection is from 2023 and their latest OA ebook collection is from 2024. Thank you!
