← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.

  2. Please add publisher Prometeo Editorial open access titles

    This is new provider partnering with existing.

    200 open access ebook titles from this Argentinian publisher will soon be added to JSTOR. It looks like the ebooks from this publisher aren't present at all.

  4. Add C-SPAN content to CDI

    Purdue has worked with C-SPAN on adding a harvestable OAI-feed to the C-SPAN system. We have since added the content locally: https://purdue.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?query=any,contains,PURDUE_CSPAN&tab=Everything&search_scope=MyInst_and_CI&vid=01PURDUE_PUWL:PURDUE&offset=0

    There maybe an interest to have C-SPAN loaded at the CDI level now that an OAI_PMH feed is available?

    VLex Global International is a platform specialized in Law in the areas of Doctrine, Legislation, Jurisprudence, Collective Agreements, Forms. The content is not only national, it includes more than 150 countries, it also gives access to the full text of books and magazines.

    The Zhonghua Classics Database contains the standard punctuated versions of many important Chinese classical texts in the fields of philosophy, history and literature (such as biji) as published by Zhonghua Shuju and other major publishers of punctuated editions.   14. Add Kortext as an e-book provider

    Please could content from Kortext (https://www.kortext.com/) be added to the KB?

    They are an e-book provider - we currently have a collection of books from them that are only in Summon via a LSH and would love the user experience / discoverability for these books to be the same as that for other e-book providers.

  15. Add "Intertek Inform" content (formerly SAI Global Standards Australia)

    Our patrons search regularly for specific Australian standards in our Primo environment, and experience Zero Results.

    We have a Database record, but this is not a good discovery experience when the patron may not know the name of the platform.

    This is particularly an issue with the rebranding in January 2024 from SAI Global Standards Australia to Intertek Inform.
