← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

    The open access monograph publishing program was conceived in 2014 as a means of publishing open access books that were relevant to the study and practice of theological librarianship. Currently the mission of the program is publication of open access works on subjects at the intersection of librarianship and religious and theological studies that potentially impact libraries. We seek to provide resources that guide and support innovative library services and enhance professional development. Titles published by Books@Atla Open Press fall within three categories: Scholarly Editions, Association Editions and Reprints.

  2. Add Digital Theatre Plus to Primo Central Index/Alma Knowledge base

    We subscribe to Digital Theatre Plus and content (which includes a lot of streaming video) is not discoverable in Primo.

    We would like to request that the Commons Open Repository Exchange (CORE) from Humanities Commons be added as a collection in the CZ, with records/portfolios for the individual titles. CORE is "A nonprofit, interdisciplinary, broad-ranging alternative to commercial networks" and includes freely accessible open access works, including articles, monographs, course materials, white papers, conference papers, code, and digital projects.   8. Editorial Tirant lo Blanch

    Editorial Tirant lo Blanch (https://editorial.tirant.com/es) is one of the main Law content providers in Spanish. The majority of the academic institutions are their customer.

    They produced databases, journals and books, and host them in their platforms (called Tirant Online, Biblioteca Tirant and Nube de Lectura). It would be very interesting to be able to index their contents.

    Adding their resources in the CDI would be very beneficial for all academic institutions studying Spanish Law.

    It’s a major daily newspaper in Japanese, and many academic libraries in Japan subscribe this database. This collection is available in alma CZ (Collection ID: 613790000000000856), but adding this to the CDI will make it more convenient for users.

    Access to the continuously updated Lamy publisher documentary collection: the official collection (national and EU official texts, treaties, private law case law, public law case law, European case law, administrative authorities), Lamy books and journals in French.
    Lamy is a French publisher that doesn't exist in the KB; however, the company is now part of Kluwer: I hope this still makes it a new publisher for you.

    "Architectural Institute of Japan Search System (日本建築学会論文等検索システム - 機関定額制)" is a database managed by Architectural Institute of Japan.
    It contains many publications published by Architectural Institute of Japan.
    Some of journals has been covered by existing databases like IRDB, J-STAGE but this database includes not only academic journals but also conference reports or any other type of contents, and they are not searchable on discovery.
