  1. Be able to search Journal/magazine titles consistently

It would be really helpful to search for journal/magazine titles like we do books. Sometimes we need the title not the articles within.

  2. New Acquisitions listing for our library

Our library users have expressed great interest in having access to a New Acquisitions listing for our Library. This would display print books received and eBooks purchased in recent weeks, and would refresh on a regular basis. (It would be a bit different to limiting search results by publication date, as we sometimes purchase older publications).

Considering that we already send our catalogue records to Summon, and that we activate new eBook titles via the Client Centre, could there be an option or a facet in the Summon search interface to provide a listing of our new acquisitions?

You can use the New Records facet to limit to only new content added to your instance of Summon. If you create a search widget (under the hamburger menu in the upper right-hand corner of the screen) and set New Records to either 7, 30 or 90 days, this will limit results to anything recently added to your instance of Summon. You can also limit to just your catalog if you want to have that view as well.

  3. Stop match and merge different editions from local catalog

In the local catalog different editions have their own records, and it is important for our users to find the right edition. In Summon sometimes local catalog records merge with other local catalog records so that several editions are shown as one. This makes it difficult for our users to see what edition they are looking at. We would very much like Summon not to merge different catalog records from the local catalog with each other.

You can request that your catalog records are excluded from merging. Just go to the Summon Admin Console > Content Ingestion > Catalog Merge Settings. Just drag the catalog you want to be excluded from merging from the Include to the Exclude column and click Save at the bottom. This is an all or nothing setting, so it will impact all catalog records.

  4. Add Summon API Usage Reports

My library is using Summon API with other third-party system. I would like to see Summon API usage reports(such as basic searches, sessions, facets etc.) in Summon OBI platform

Most devices have built in support for color inversion or the ability to designate color schemes to meet an end user’s need. We also test our user interface for compliance with text-to-speech readers as well.

We strive for compliance with both VPAT and WCAG standards, and review our standing periodically. If you have feedback on our accessibility support, please open a ticket with our support team and we will address the issue as quickly as possible.

  8. Request determineing no result when the volume number and author do not match.

When there are no Suppl. on the publisher's page, sometimes 360 Link navigates the wrong article page.
For example, please see the URL below.

And it might be more useful for the users if this enhancement will be made.

  9. Add the word "Temporary" to the Saved Folder.

The message indicating this folder is temporary pops up for a few seconds (5 or so) and is only shown on the first tab open. Therefore if a user has more tabs open for research they may not know their items are temporary.

  11. Add the option to hide the Widget Builder in hamburger menu.

We're concerned about having these widget builders on the public side.

We'd prefer to offer our faculty code for search widgets with more functionality for embedding in their course materials.

  12. Provide the ability to make a custom title for an ebook or ejournal

Sometimes the titles provided by publishers are messy looking (random capitalizations and punctuation) or the editions are inconsistent (sometimes a number, sometimes spelled out). It would be great to be able to either edit the title or have the ability to add our own custom titles.

  13. Summon search result URLs that are scoped by date

We would like to have Summon search result URLs that are scoped by date, specifically:

    Last 12 months
    Last 6 months
    Last month
    Last week

So we could add these URLs on other web pages.

    Thank you!

With the addition of the New Records facet as part of the upgrade to the Central Discovery Index (CDI), you can now create links for most of these options.

To create a link for the last 7, 30 or 90 days, complete a search on whatever default term you want (or leave it blank) then select the limit you want from the New Records facet. For the last year, three years, or five years, you can select those under the date picker in the facet pane. You can use this link on any page you’d like.

You can do the same using the Widget Builder under the hamburger menu in the upper right hand corner if you want to embed a search box with one of these limits.

  14. "Scholarly & Peer-Review" and "Peer-Review"

The filter "Scholarly & Peer-Review" and just "Peer-Review" are both in the "REFINE YOUR SEARCH" facet. It would be confusing when users want to search for peer-reviewed articles. It should be "Scholarly items" and "Peer-Review."

  15. I wanted to ask whether the possibility of being able to modify proximity search searching has been considered?

We had proximity search settings set in EDS so that words entered in the keyword box had to be within 3 or 4 words of each other, (if I'm remembering correctly). That seemed to be a good happy medium for our users so that phrase searching wasn't needed. It's an adjustment for those used to EDS of now needing to put phrases in quotes, capitalize boolean operators, and this really broad threshold for proximity searching when using Summon.
