Be able to search Journal/magazine titles consistently
It would be really helpful to search for journal/magazine titles like we do books. Sometimes we need the title not the articles within.
If your institution would like to support the ability to search for a journal at the title level, you can contact support and ask for title level MARC records to be added to your instance of Summon.

Dear Brent. This is not true (or at least not what I meant). I'm referring to the the advance search. When using advance search there is a drop down to limit the field you're search (ie title, isbn, author, subject, etc). The title of this refers to the title of the document, not the title of sources. So if I wanted to limit my search to specific peridocials, such as "the economist" OR "new york times" or "the guardian", I'm not able to do this. Other platforms, such as EBSCO, offer this ability.

Including not only book titles but also journal titles into Summon makes the discovery service more efficïent.
We consider Summon as the Google search engine of the library, meaning that you can search and find anything. Using the separate e-journal portal, which has its own use and relevance, or the Publication finder is contrasting our philosophy of the general search function. As it is an option to show journals titles via the publication finder, why not integrate them into the central search function and show them in the central results? -

Our users often "misuse" Summon by looking for journal titles. For the most heavily used/sought journals, I have resorted to adding them to Best Bets to alleviate their frustration- along with the databases they search for. Some of the Best Bets simply inform them that we don't have x resource.
