  1. Autocomplete Non-CiteIt Citations based on Material Type or other configured rules

It would be very useful to be able to have configuration in Alma that would allow citations with a specific list of defined Material Types to be set to citation status: Complete and Copyright Status: Not Required or Approved automatically when they first are created on the Reading List. This would save staff working on Reading lists where there are numerous citations which need no copyright approval or should be auto Approved and need no user intervention, to be automatically marked complete if they matched a configurable list of material types exiting in Alma already.

    At the moment it takes…

  2. No openURL in exported reference lists with reference styles (Chicago and APA)

When exporting citations to Word with a reference style, openURLs are included to some citations such as journal articles and electronic books.
    Example:
    https://bibsys-um.userservices.exlibrisgroup.com/view/uresolver/47BIBSYS_HIM/openurl?ctx_enc=info:ofi/enc:UTF-8&ctx_id=10_1&ctx_tim=2017-10-18T15%3A36%3A41IST&ctx_ver=Z39.88-2004&url_ctx_fmt=info:ofi/fmt:kev:mtx:ctx&url_ver=Z39.88-2004&rfr_id=info:sid/primo.exlibrisgroup.com-BIBSYS_ILS&req_id=&rft_dat=ie=47BIBSYS_UBTO:5194209890002205,ie=47BIBSYS_HIO:5149861280002218,ie=47BIBSYS_HIM:5116987240002223,ie=47BIBSYS_HH:5153300090002214,ie=47BIBSYS_NETWORK:71468414340002201,language=eng,view=HIM&svc_dat=viewit&u.ignore_date_coverage=true&user_ip=&req.skin=primo

This should not be the case.

According to both APA and Chicago, the DOI should be included if one is assigned.
If none is assigned, then you can include a URL. So URLs are not strictly necessary and they don't need to appear in the citation if the DOI is present.

APA just requires to write DOIs such as "DOI:10.1057/palgrave.kmrp.8500141", while Chicago seems to require DOI-based URLs:
"A URL based on a DOI (appended to …

  3. More self explanatory labels in the Leganto Publishing Configuration

The labels in the Leganto Publishing Configuration (Configuration > Fulfillment > Leganto > Publishing) are rather confusing.
"Anyone Restricted" especially has been a cause of misunderstanding with both Ex Libris and institutions in our consortium. A simple change such as "Anyone Restricted, Course students only" for example would make it easier to immediately understand who has access to uploaded files.

But all labels in general would benefit from a more self explanatory formulation, for example:
    List anyone,
    List all students,
    List course students,

    , course materials anyone
    , course materials all students
    , course materials course students

  4. Searching or refining a search with publication year

The citation search in Leganto has been significantly improved with the material type facets.
But it could be made even more efficient and userfriendly with the possibility to search or filter by publication year.
Some publications such as reports have the same title and the time of publication is a good way to differentiate between them and/or easier to remember than a DOI.

  5. Define locally how much of a citation is shown i a reading list

If a public note is registered on a citation, it will be shown on one line only in the list itself, hiding parts of the text if the note is too long.
We would like institutions to be able to locally define how many lines are to be shown for each citation in the reading list itself.

  6. Extra scope in Leganto with all the citations already processed by the library

We would like another scope to be added in Leganto: The completed Leganto citations already approved by the library. Effectively, the content in Alma>Fulfillment>Course Reserves>Citations.

In most cases a citation will rarely be perfect when you import it to a reading list. You usually have to customize the citation in some way. To be able to reuse the already processed and completed citation will save a lot of work for both instructors and/or librarians. This is especially true for book chapters, as not many are catalogued in Alma as such.

Completed citations could be easily searchable by instructors in Leganto.

  7. Allow instructors to see List and Item Discussions more clearly

Although there are concerns around anonymity of list and item level discussions, instructors are interested in being able to easily get a course-level overview of the discussions on their lists, and items on their lists. Currently the Notifications can help to get instructors to individual comments, but these have no course context, having list filtering and no course details. Being able to see whole discussions from notifications and seeing the courses with which they are associated would help greatly here.

For example, if a lecturer is seeking feedback on assigned readings on a list, it would be useful to be…

  8. Make volume information more visible in citation in Leganto

For citations with a volume number, "Vol." is added when the list is exported to Word with APA or another style.

This happens accordingly to citation style rules, but also greatly helps identifying what kind of information the number refers to.

In Leganto, volume numbers are displayed without this pre-text, and stand on their own. Having "vol." added also in the citation in Leganto (without messing with the export) would make such citations easier to read and more userfriendly.

  10. Limit availability of Add to Reading List icon in Primo to signed in users/specific user group

We would like to be able to choose to only display the "Add to Reading List" icon in the "Send to" action options in Primo (See attached) if the user is currently signed in or if the signed in user is part of a specific UserGroup, for example, a STAFF UserGroup.

  11. Chapter number and author to display more prominently

We would like the citation chapter number and author to be displayed alongside the chapter title (slightly larger, bold font).

Currently these fields display on the second line alongside the book title and publisher information, which lacks clarity (see attachment).

  14. Reading List Folders broken down from Subject faculty then into course then into year

Briefly, we would like a way to organize reading lists on the Leganto list view beyond being able to search them, for example folders that can contain reading lists.

Our Business School and Faculty of Medicine staff have told us they have too many courses to manage easily on list view, so have suggested this feature to help organise their lists better. They suggest that seeing only their current year courses on the Leganto home page list view, and their previous years lists in folders.

User story: as a medicine course convener responsible for multiple reading lists, I would like…

  15. Better options/formatting when exporting a list to PDF

Exporting to PDF is a useful function but not very useable as it is:
A list of 11 citations will turn into a 5 page-pdf, with 2 citation per page most of the time (probably due to too much space in between citations).
This is clearly not good if one exported the list in order to print it, so this should be reviewed and adjusted.

We also hope it will eventually be possible to choose a reference style when exporting to PDF (as with Word), once issues in that regard are fixed and the exported lists are judged satisfactory according…

  16. Improvment for the alert filter in Alma

    In Fulfillment > Citation

This filter is automatically set to "Alert:All" so we would expected the citations shown under to be all citations with alert, but this in not the case (only shows all citations).
The way we see it, the filter should be blank by default and "All" should be a possible choice, allowing to show all the citations with an alert.
