  2. Move away from Reading Lists and toward embeddable documents!

Canvas allows for professors to include content altogether on a weekly/unit basis (called Modules). Reading Lists doesn't respect that format and complicates instruction. We should be able to embed library resources directly into Canvas through an iframe/LTI into whichever Module we like.

  3. Leganto +ReadingList widget

In adding the +ReadingList widget to the bookmark manager of a browser, you need a two-step process. First click the widget from one's Leganto settings menu and click again on the widget button from the pop-up window. This is more of a user experience issue, many if unfamiliar will choose to drag the widget after clicking on the menu settings and will drag the URL instead of clicking another time to wait for the pop-out window to drag the right widget with the javascript (see below).

  4. Customise Leganto Reading lists using CSS

We would like to be able to adjust a CSS stylesheet to tweak the visual styling of the the Leganto reading lists. We have received feedback regarding the sizing of some important elements on the pages, especially the View Online link. We would like to be able to make this link more obvious to users.

We do not plan to offer the option to customize the Leganto interface via CSS. While customization of the CSS seems like a good solution for those who want to change the interface, it can potentially cause significant compatibility issues moving forward. We invest much effort in advancing the user interface, and we don’t want to create a situation where changes to the Leganto interface break customizations on the customer end. If you have specific customization needs, please open a support ticket and we will address them via configurations or flags in the system.

  5. Add library discussion notes to the citation brief display in Alma

This would save us from having to click into the citations to view notes from lecturers or between library staff

  6. Allow instructors to add Library Search result to other reading lists or My Collection

User Story: As an instructor, I would like to have the option to add a citation to My Collection or other reading lists from the Search Library results in current reading list or My Collection (similar to adding an item from cite it), so that I don’t have to go in and out of My Collection/reading list to add a citation

The 2023 Leganto new user experience includes the option to add an item from the library search to my collection/favorites. It does not include the option to add the item to another list from the library search. Instead, items on the list can be added to other lists, an option which wasn’t available when this idea was originally created. We are closing this idea, but please create a new and updated idea if something is still needed.

  7. Short cuts

Both keyboard shortcuts (hot keys) to reduce mouse use, and ability to add often used pages/functions in a "favorites" linkbar for easy access. Reducing the amount of mouse clicks needed.

  8. Add ability to adjust display order of Library Discussion & bX recommendations

When viewing a citation, the Bx recommendations pop up above library discussion often pushing them down out of view. It would be preferable to enable a swap of the order of discussion and bX so discussion appears first or show both collapsed by default so the discussion option is lost to users.

  9. Add citation ID to enrichment job results summary (Preview records / Events Report screen)

After running the process and enrich citations job you can view the 'Job Report' containing a summary of resource locate results (Resource locate match found, multiple match found, etc.)

For each of these result types you can click 'Preview records' to open an Events Report screen, however this is not useful as it does not include the citation ID (the columns provided are course code, section, reading list code and title).

Could the citation ID be added to this screen.

  10. Add events (citation modifications, etc) by library staff to Leganto Instructor Usage Events subject area in Analytics

Currently the Leganto Instructor Usage Events subject area only identifies events created by list collaborators. At our institution, library staff are also responsible for making modifications to lists and citations (for example, adding tags), however these actions are not displayed as 'events' on analyses created in this subject area.

As previously discussed with Ex Libris (see SF 00523008), it would be useful for our workflows if both instructor and library staff events could display in this subject area (perhaps under separate descriptors).

  11. Number of participants per campus more visible in Alma

Please have a look at the attached document for full description with pictures.

    Hi,
Here are a few suggestions regarding the number of participants as shown in Alma:
    1. When controlling a list where several campuses are involved, only the campuses are indicated, not the number of students per campus.
We would like this information to be visible here. It would make it easier to decide if more copies should be bought, or if the library of another campus should have a look at the list.
    2. When associating a list to a course in Leganto, the information about the…

  12. Free text space above File Upload Copyright options in Leganto

Currently, in the front end of Leganto, there is no free text space above the File Copyright Upload options. Please see attached screenshot.

It would be good user experience if there is the option to add some free text there otherwise it's just a series of options without an explanation of what they are.

  13. Move "+" sign

The "+" sign should be moved down to each section, and the default section should then be the section the click comes from. That is more intuitive. I am pretty sure 9 of 10 users starts looking in the sections for a way to add literature.

  14. "send list"

The "Send list" button should be renamed "SAVE". It is far from obvious that this must be pressed in order to finalize the list (which I assume this button does?)

  15. Autofill CCC special order forms

When a reading cannot have copyright clearance immediately granted in Leganto, staff are notified to place a special order. Sometimes Leganto provides a direct link to a blank CCC form, but sometimes it doesn’t. In either case, the staff must enter all form information manually, even though that data has already been entered in Leganto.

Leganto should connect directly to the CCC form in all cases where a special order is needed, and autofill the form with all relevant data that has already been entered in Leganto. E.g., ISBN/ISSN, year, volume, pages, number of students, article or chapter title, etc.

  16. Ability to retrieve deleted list sections or individual citations

Ability to retrieve deleted list sections or deleted individual citations. When deleting individual list sections or individual citations from a list, could the deleted items be held in an area (e.g. "trash bin") so as to be retrievable if deleted in error. Could this functionality be available for both instructors and librarians.

  17. Allow more than one digitization department for Leganto requesting

If you want to allow faculty to place digitization requests in Leganto, you can only specify a single department to manage these requests. This could either be at the institution level or inside an individual library. However, this is a problem if your institution has multiple campuses/libraries that may each want to manage their own digitization request workflows.

This enhancement would allow general systems administrators to specify multiple digitization departments in place of the current “managing_department” setting in configurations under Fulfillment --> Copyright Management --> Leganto Copyright Settings.

  18. Link to earlier book editions in the student view

To be able to add a link to a reading list to all earlier editions of a book (which are suitable for students to use). The link would need to be visible in the student view and ideally display all the earlier edition books with links.

  19. Number of participants as a possible field in reading list overview

In the reading list overview in Alma it is possible to choose the kind of information shown in the table, like code, assignee, status and so on. It would be nice having the numbers of participants as an option as well.

  20. Add a job to (dis)associate reading lists with course(s)

By default un-associated reading lists are attached to the Exlibris default course, and currently any reading lists imported by Exlibris - ie from Equella, require that the courses already exist, in order to associate properly.

However, what happens if you want to change the association of a reading list to a course or courses? There is currently no API mechanism to do this, and the reading list import by Exlibris can't be run in 'resynch' mode where the courses may have been created after the reading list import.

What we're suggesting is that a job can be run using a…
