  1. Open alert content directly from notification

Currently, tapping a notification opens the Alerts page rather than the specific alert, requiring users to find the alert and click it again to read it. This adds friction and may reduce actual alert reads.

Suggestion: Configure notifications to link directly to the alert content to improve user experience and engagement.

  2. Improve error messaging in Self Checkout to provide clearer feedback

Following the release of the Self Checkout functionality in campusM (2025), we conducted user testing with a group of beta testers using the mobile application.

A recurring pain point emerged: when a checkout attempt fails, the error modal only displays a generic message ("Checkout failed") that gives users no indication of why the operation could not be completed. Users cannot tell, for instance, whether the item is non-circulating, already on loan, reserved for another patron, or otherwise unavailable.

Suggestion: We suggest enhancing the Self Checkout workflow in the mobile app to display more detailed and actionable error messages, ideally aligned…

  3. Display a message or animation when student end user has successfully checked-in to all events in one day

From student end user feedback: ability to have a message or animation display to student end users once they have successfully checked-in to all events on a given day. The feedback suggests this would be a fun addition that might provide 'the tiniest bit of motivation for people to attend more lectures'.

  4. Enhance deep-linking in app to work with product integrations

The November 2025 release introduced deep linking within the app. However, this does not extend to product integrations such as the self-checkout Alma integration.

Use case: On the Library shelves, we have signage inviting students and staff to use the app to scan book barcodes for borrowing. At present, we can only provide a QR code with instructions for downloading the app, and then tell them to look for the relevant tile.

Now that most of our students are aware of the app and already have it installed, it would be a much better experience for them to scan…

  5. Attendance check-in: make check-in code display larger or add ability to change size

We have received feedback from both students and lecturers to say that the iSheffield check in code is rather small, especially when viewed on a mobile phone, so we would like to suggest either increasing the size of the check-in code font when displayed, or to introduce the ability for users to change the font size themselves.
