How can we improve Alma?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.

  1. Allow options for how items act when checked out during an "exception-closed" in the Alma Calendar

    Allow option for how items act when check out occurs during closed hours (not focusing on due back time). During weeks like spring break, we set an exception that we are closed so our week long/3 week long book check outs will not come due that week to account for students possibly leaving campus. This means when we try to check out hourly items during spring break, they are due back immediately since they were checked out during a closed period. We cannot adjust the due time for hourly items checking out during that week properly without deleting the exceptions…

  2. Add option to not attach a logo to Letters (to reduce e-mail spamminess)

    If we hide the logo by removing it from head.xsl, it's still attached to e-mails and contribute to increasing the spam score (which is already quite high due to several other issues like html-only content)

    If an email logo is not uploaded, the header logo is used as the email logo. Can this please be changed? If an email logo is not uploaded, it might mean that we don't want an e-mail logo.

    Alternative, to keep backwards compatibility, a new option "Don't attach logo to e-mails" could be introduced.

  3. keyboard shortcuts for "done" and "exit" especially

    Alma is extremely rough on the carpal tunnel because of having to make so many clicks. There should be keyboard shortcuts for everything possible, but especially for "Done" and "Exit," and for all the routine tasks of Fulfillment.

  4. Enable Alma to communicate IP changes to vendors

    When the university adds or removes an IP range, the library has to contact many e-resource vendors, often one by on,e to ensure that access via IP remains accurate. Add a functionality in Alma to allow libraries to contact all vendors at once with updated IP information, so we don't have to use a separate service like RedLink or IP Registry.

    It would be helpful if there were a tool that lets you enter/select every task across all modules that you want the user to have access to, and then it will give you a suggestion of which permissions/roles would be most appropriate to assign them.

  6. Custom hot keys for Quick Links items

    Have hot keys / keyboard short cuts for the Quick Links items. For example Alt + 1,2,3, etc. depending on the order of the items on the top bar. That way you can add quick links to the functions you use the most, and then have keyboard short cut to that function.

  7. Watch ideas and share lists of ideas

    1. It would be helpful to have the option to watch an idea without having to use a vote or when an idea is marked as planned.

    2. I'd like to share the list of ideas for which I have voted without exporting or requiring viewers to login.

    We are using the UserVoice platform for submitting ideas and unfortunately your suggestions are not supported.

  11. Strip incompatible characters from patron feed before processing

    Our IT department occasionally produces a patron load XML that contains small amounts of non-ascii characters. Currently a single character in a Brazilian mailing address, for example, stops the entire load. I think the behavior should be that any unrecognized character needs to be stripped out by Exlibris so the rest of the SYNCHRONIZE job can proceed, and the locations of the stripped out characters should end up in a warning.

  12. Add First Name/Last Name fields to Staff Login Report

    Please add more fields to the Staff Login Report to help identify the staff in the list. At the moment it only reports out Primary ID which is just a staff number at my institution.

    To be able to use the report more easily and effectively we need First Name and Last Name fields in the report.

    Other fields could potentially be useful to some institutions such as User Group and Job Description.

    Please add a widget option to the home page that displays a simple current count of physical items. I should not have to create an analysis to get this basic information.

  14. Increase Ideas Exchange votes per person to 50.

    Ideas Exchange idea to increase to 50 - there are too many good ideas that need supporting to be limited to 20.

    The purpose of limiting the number of votes to 20 is so that users will focus and vote on the real top priority issues for them.

  15. Ideas Exchange export option

    It would be nice if we could export all the ideas from Ideas Exchange into Excel or by csv file so they can be reviewed more easy than page by page to see if an idea is already there (albeit worded differently) before voting. Since we can export our personal data from settings there is obviously some export functionality on Ideas exchange- can we have a bit more?

  16. Fix this: Link to "Suggest an Idea" not clickable if the user has moused over 'Alma Release Schedule'

    The Alma Release schedule is not a separate page, so it should be moved to the bottom of the list to avoid disrupting other parts of the list. Or it should be changed from an explosion that disrupts the rest of the list to a new page in a new tab, consistent with the other items in the list.

  17. Enable drag and drop of recent pages so we can use that as virtual bookmarks

    If you can allow drag and drop of recent pages so we can use that as virtual bookmarks and not have to see rarely used pages that happen to be recently used.

  18. Ajout de l'adresse de la Bibliothèque propriétaire de la demande annulée

    Concernant la lettre d'Annulation d'une demande "FulCancelRequestLetter", au lieu d'avoir l'adresse de l'Institution, nous aimerions voir apparaître les coordonnées de la bibliothèque dont dépend le document demandé.
    Cela permet à l'usager d'avoir la possibilité de contacter la bibliothèque en cas d'annulation de demande de celle-ci.

  19. Remain on the same page when Current Location is changed

    At the moment, when 'Current Location' is changed, this action results in the user being taken to the home page afterwards. This is inconvenient, especially when working in a patron record, as it means several steps to get back to the screen where you were before. It would be much better if the interface remained on the same screen after a location change.
