  1. Fulfillment unit rules

When having to edit a Fulfillment Unit rule, it'd be great if there was an Edit button instead of a Delete button for each parameter - currently, if I want to add a User Group to an existing rule, I have to delete the batch of UGs & re-add the parameter (or, if the order affects it, delete everything and re-create the whole rule).

  2. send overdue an overdue notice within hours of overdue for items that check out for hours

Right now overdue notices are sent once a day. Many technology items check out for a couple hours and cannot have overnight checkout. Sending an overdue notice at 7am the next day does not help remind the patron to return it while fines are accruing We need a way to set up notifications for items that check out less than a day that run on a more frequent schedule than once a day.

  3. Fulfillment Network/Consortium - See loans (items) from other institutions in patron's home Alma

We need to be able to see ALL of a patron's active loans - including those items borrowed from a consortium partner - in the patron's home Alma. So if I have books checked out from my own library and 2 other libraries, they would all show up in MY Alma record.

  4. All items loan and hold requests history

In aleph circulation, items tab, we had an option to see all items history of loans and hold request.
In alma we have to go into each item - action - edit - history, in order to see loan history and there is no option to see the hold requests history. We suggest adding column in the list of items screen with the number of loans / requests or adding a tab in each item with the summary of loans of all items. Although we can retrieve the data thru analytics, not all the librarian can access it and it…

In the Other Details tab of physical title and all title search results, the following new loan statistics are available:
    Number of loans
    Number of in house use
    Year-to-date loans
    Last in house use date
    Last Loan Date

  5. Allow to configure the localization of loan status codes on institutional level

Currently it is not possible to configure a localized version of the basic loan status codes (e. g. "recalled" or "normal") on institutional level. Instead there are static translations which are set for all Alma institutions - for example (german) "Zurückgerufen" for "recalled". That specific translation, displayed in the loan list in Primo >> My Account, creates confusion among our users since the correct term in that case should be "Vorgemerkt" ("put on hold").

We need a possibility to configure the localization of loan status codes on institutional level - no matter if in Alma or in the Primo code…

  6. Add "Previous User" in Manage Patron Services

It would be great to have feature to see the last previous user that you pulled up in the Manage Patron Services Patron Identification page. We often find ourselves needing to look up information on the patron who we just checked out materials too.

  7. Improve how Alma selects libraries for internal requests

We are 1 institution on Alma/Primo, our organisation is NHS Scotland. We have libraries from different NHS regions (or health boards) each linked to a particular campus.

When a patron requests an item on Primo and selects the pick-up location they belong to, Alma checks to see if that particular library can fulfil that request.

Thereafter it will just select randomly from the list of other libraries to fulfil the request.

The issue we have is that a library from the same campus may be able to fulfil that request but Alma may select a library up to 150 miles…

  8. Print without the cloud and reduce failure points for printing Pull Slips

The process for printing Pull Slips has multiple failure points. Suggestion: Use the Print Slip Report as the data source for a mail merged Word document Pull Slip.

Creating email pull slips is too reliant on multiple systems working at all times. All of the required systems (servers, printers, scripts…) are potential failure points. These failure points often require staff from other departments to resolve. When there is a failure at any of the many points, the result is an inability to process Pull Slips through the normal workflows.

Suggestion: (1) Execute Print Slip Report, (2) Open Word document Pull…

  9. Provide patrons notification of reasons for failure to renew a loan

Please note: this idea is not ours originally. We voted for this as an institution as part of the first round of NERS 2018, where it was Req ID 5782. I noticed that it isn't in Ideas Exchange now (or at least I don't think so).

Quoting the original description: 'We would like it to be possible to notify users when they have an item on loan that cannot be renewed, and to explain the reason to them so as to avoid confusion to patrons. Reasons may include: - because it is requested, - the patron has reached their expiry…

  10. Change the “No requesting from available holding” functionality (check item availability)

Circulation desk librarians want to make a distinction between items and holdings that are (not) available for requesting purposes.
Patrons shouldn't be able to request items that are available, but they should be able to request items that are NOT available. In our case our items are created under the same holding, and Alma checks the holding for availability, not the item.
Use case: 1 holding with 3 items (with the same item description): 2 items are loanable, 1 item should stay in the shelves for consulting.
When the 2 loanable items are on loan and the 3rd one being…

    Hi,

In the July 2017 release the following was done:

The calculation of the fulfillment unit On Shelf Request Policy was changed for serial titles. For each item, if there are available items that have the same description and are requestable, then the request link will be suppressed. If the available items are not requestable then the request link will not be suppressed.

Thank you for this very helpful suggestion !

    Moshe

  11. Add the option to display call number in all tabs (loans, returns, requests) of the patron account.

I have just seen the added call numbers with the December Release. It is now accessible everywhere except: the requests page of a patron.
It would have been this page where the call numbers are the most useful and the most waited for. Please add it there as well.

  12. Allow more flexibility in Display Logic rules

We would like to be able to construct Display Logic rules that hide a service based on the absence of a service. Currently (7/8/2016), the structure of rules only allow hiding a service based on the presence of a service.

    Case in point:
We provide unmediated Get It Now for a handful of publishers. Obviously, we do not want to offer Get It Now if a full text service exists. However, because Alma considers Get It Now to be a full text service (which is a discussion for another day), we cannot use a "hide Get It Now if full…

  13. Restrict borrowers from loaning multiple copies of an item they already have on loan

We would like to be able to restrict borrowers from loaning multiple copies of the same item.

For example, we would not want a borrower to be able to loan an additional copy of an item if they already have that item on loan, as this is unfair on others who would also like that item.

Although we have recalls in place, we would still like to restrict borrowers from loaning a second copy (or more) of something they already have on loan.

    Kind regards,
    Andrew

  14. Block expired patrons from placing resource sharing requests in Primo

There should be an easy way to block patrons with expired Alma accounts from placing resource sharing requests in Primo. We shouldn't have to run a script as a work-around.

Currently, there is no way to tell Alma that expired patrons cannot place resource sharing requests in Primo. Expired patrons in Alma can place resource sharing requests, even though they are unable to checkout the material. This makes for very unhappy patrons.

  15. Pop up user notes

Currently, we only have block notes pop up when scanning patron ID in "manage patron services". It would be lovely if a specific user notes (which can be added manually by staff) like "circulation" notes can be popped up to warn the staff like the patrons' email address is incorrect or this is a distance student etc. Please feel free to ask more question re this idea

User notes can now be defined to appear as pop-up notes in Manage Patron Services so that the librarian can inform the patron of any important messages. When a user note is created, a new check-box is available, Pop up note. When selected, the note will display as a pop-up window when the operator enters Manage Patron Users. If a block message also exists for the user, both messages will display in the same pop-up window.

  16. View cancelled requests

it would be useful for Fulfillment staff to have a way to track when users cancel requests, eg to explain why an item is coming off the holdshelf early, or to prove to a user that the reason why their hold has never been satisfied is because they cancelled the request. Perhaps a record should go into the Requests tab on the user's Fulfillment activities and into the item's History tab?

  17. Opening hours of the library in Alma and renewing in Primo

Circulation desk librarians want to make a distinction between library opening hours in Alma and service hours in Primo so users can still renew items on loan in Primo that day after closing time of the library.
Some libraries close at 5 PM. The due hours of the items loaned in these libraries are thus 5 PM. But in fact the student should be able to renew his items until the end of the day, which is 11:59 PM in Primo.
We have also configured that for students there is a patron limit of max overdue = 0. Which means…

  18. Have the Proxy For setting available for placing Requests.

Currently our incarcerated students have their requests put into a spreadsheet that is sent to the Off Campu team. They then have to process the request (sometimes having to spend time finding the correct item or call number) and then process the request. It would be much more efficient if the Proxy For function could be expanded to include the placing of requests, which would then place the items on the Pick from Shelf list for collection and processing

A new type of proxy user has been introduced as part of Ala December release, that will function as an extension for the sponsor user: Fulfillment proxies will have a proxy account (separate from their personal account, if exists), with which they’ll be able to log into Primo or Primo VE, place hold and resource sharing requests on behalf of their sponsor user, follow up on these requests, be notified when they reach the hold shelf, and check out items on behalf of the sponsor user.

  19. Direct link access from a citation to a reading list

    User Story/Case

A streamlined workflow is required to provide direct access to reading lists from a citation. The current workflow is overly complicated and requires to much clicking.

    Description
When digitised files are ready to be be attached to a reading list, staff must first access the relevant citation by navigating to Alma > Fulfilment > Course Reserves > Citations, then find the citation, attach the file and mark the citation as ‘Completed'.

The next step in the workflow is to access the Reading list which requires staff to navigate to Alma > Fulfilment > Course Reserves > Reading List…

  20. Enhance conditions in General Electronic Services based on holdings/locations

Currently in a general electronic service we can create conditions based on limited bibliographic metadata via openurl format.
This is a request to enhance conditions in General Electronic Services further to allow conditions based on holdings/locations/items.
We want to be able to display specific retrieval services only for records that have a specific relevant location.
