How can we improve Alma?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Allow institution to determine which type of Bibliographic record will be created when creating a Purchase Request

    This idea was submitted by Ex Libris product management team in order to better understand the need as well as get feedback from the community.

    Current situation:

    • A purchase request can be created from Primo/Leganto/Alma
    • A purchase request must rely on a Bibliographic record, there are 2 options for the purchase request to match on a Bibliographic record:
    • Match to an existing Bib record (if exists)
    • Create a new Bib record (this is the use case described below)

    When creating a purchase request, the user has the option to decide whether it is a "One Time" purchase (Book) or "Continuous"…

  2. Batch file download function to local PC (Alma-Digital)

    Please provide Select all and download them to local PC function on Digital Title > Representations > Files List. Also a file export job for a set of digital titles is needed. (FYI, Rosetta has the latter function.)

    As part of the transition to new UI concepts in Alma, search results in Alma will include list actions. Once the search results for files will be implemented, it will include a download action of all / selected files.

  3. Please enhance moving titles/collections function

    Please enhance moving titles/collections function. Now I can move only a set of titles from collection A to B by Add bib to collection job, and it means I need to create hundreds sets and run the job hundreds times. Also moving collection has to be done one by one. I have done this so far but it's just too tedious and time-consuming.

    For digital titles and collections Primo Collection Lobby is the book stack and they need to be rearranged sometimes. (Even on PC we often re-organize folders too!) However on Alma it's so hard to reorganize titles and…

  4. Don't link unauthorized headings based on 008 14-16

    Alma should take into account positions 14-16 of the 008 of the authority record when "deciding" if it should link to and update a biographic heading.

    In the case of the main entry if position 14 is not "b" then make the link and update. If it is "b" it should not link and update.
    In the case of a subject entry if position 15 is not "b" then make the link and update. If it is "b" it should not link and update.
