← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

  1. CZ AMD bib material type revised

    There are many AMD related collections (Collection ID: 61616107200003966; Collection ID: 61616086800003966 and so on) in ALMA CZ. We found many resources bib material type are defined as JOURNAL, which is wrong compared with the real situation(They may be manscript,document ,photograph in the database platform). However, we cannot upload electronic material type in batch to replace.

    We think CZ should confirm and fix the wrong bib material type.

  2. Ensuring Journal Titles are displayed in correct case in Primo

    Generally journal titles tend to be displayed in sentence case rather than headline case. Is there any setting we can do in Primo to ensure that Journal Titles are displayed in the correct case?
    This creates problems when the records are exported to EndNote via .ris file export. Is there any setting we can do in Primo to ensure that Journal Titles are displayed in the correct case?
    According to ExLIBRIS, the journal title (JF tag) is taken from the PNX addata/jtitle. If this field is written in lower case, the journal title will be exported the same. For CDI…

  3. Bloomsbury Collections: frontlist choices

    The current target for Bloomsbury Collections (Intota) is for the full platform and is the only Bloomsbury target that includes frontlist updates. However, we need targets at the subject level that get updated regularly for frontlist content. Waiting until the imprint year is over before loading the subject-level data is not helpful.

    We work closely with Bloomsbury to ensure that their collections are represented in our Knowledgebases, including subject-level collections. 

    If there are specific missing collections, please indicate those so that we can discuss this with the provider directly and address the missing collections.

  6. Enable the addition of an "institutionId" parameter to the service for CREDOreference Academic Core Backfile

    Without the additional "institutionId" parameter, if signing in using SAML or OpenAthens the link generated by the parser does not know the institution you have linked from. You will be challenged to select institution and then taken to the sign in page. Once this is resolved you are taken to the Credo Reference homepage as it has forgotten the original linking parameter. This is resolved by adding the parameter ?institutionId=1234 (where 1234 is your institution ID).
    Please add the institionId as an optional parameter that is added to the url that is generated by the parser.

  8. Add Elsevier Open Access Collection to Alma CZ

    We would like to see a collection for Elsevier Open Access Journals (including coverage statements) in Alma CZ. As is, these titles are activated in the Elsevier autoload collection. However this collection has to be proxied in order to provide our patrons with off-campus access to subscribed content. All Elsevier OA-titles are thus behind institutional log in if accessed via Primo or linkresolver.

    Hello,

    The collections ScienceDirect Complimentary Free Access Books and ScienceDirect Open Access Titles from the provider Elsevier are no longer being updated.
    This means that we cannot support these as separate fulltext collections with title lists in our Delivery products.

    For our 360 customers, in order to maintain accurate and authoritative provider metadata all titles were removed and the databases were hidden as of December 2020.

  9. New Community Zone electronic collection request: IET Open Access Journals on Wiley Online Library

    The University of Strathclyde requests the addition of a new CZ collection for IET Open Access titles that are now available on the Research Hub on Wiley Online Library. The details of the 43 titles to be added are listed here: https://ietresearch.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/
    Currently the IET titles are available on the ‘Wiley Online Library Open Access’ collection (Collection ID: 614330000000000427)’ however the content has now moved from the main Wiley Online Library ( https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com ) site to the Research Hub on Wiley Online ( https://ietresearch.onlinelibrary.wiley.com ), and the links no longer work.     Wiley confirmed the IET titles should be part of the Wiley Online Library Open Access and they will not remove them.

  10. Add OA flag to Community Zone Open Access ebook collections where they are missing

    Some Alma CZ ebook e-collections do not include a MARC 506 field that would add the OA flag to Primo search results. This means that these titles are not included in the Open Access facet under Availability - even though the names of the e-collections state that they are open access.

    Eg:

    Project Euclid Open Access Monographs
    Bloomsbury Open Access
    Brillonline Open Access Books
    International Monetary Fund eLibrary Open Access
    JSTOR Books Open Access
    Project Muse Open Access Books
    Smithsonian Research Online - Open Access (Smithsonian)

    Hello, 

    We are working on cleaning up the 506 field within the CZ. 

    We continue to rely on providers to supply this metadata, and display this when available. 

    In addition there are talks about this field and the OA indications in may forums within our industry, so we look forward to improvements over time.

  11. ACM Digital library with ejournals, proceedings, & newsletters

    We created this Selective Package collection to represent these journal titles. ACM has recently made some changes in Summer of 2020 that caused the old links to no longer work. My request is that you would look into creating a Journal - Selective Package collection with links to the Archive section of the site. Meanwhile, I have corrected my links so they work.

    BrowZine offers the SJR for each magazine. If that was an option in the EJP, we could let go of BrowZine and have students go straight to the EJP for everything full-text journal-related.

    SAGE are indeed listed as a provider whose annual collections we are working to obtain.
