← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category. The ideas for new providers will be annually prioritized via the CERV process.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

**Please be aware that ideas with no comments or votes for the past three years, and have less than 30 votes, will be closed. The closed ideas will still be available for review, and the votes will be freed up for supporting other content ideas.

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Add KB Collection for Hirzel Verlag Journals

    Please add a KB collection for Hirzel Verlag journals on the Biblioscout platform.

    It appears they only publish one journal:
    ZfdA Zeitschrift für deutsches Altertum und deutsche Literatur
    https://biblioscout.net/journal/zfda
    Start coverage year is 2005 and ISSN is 0044-2518.

    There's already a Community Zone collection named "Biblioscout - S. Hirzel Verlag Elibrary" (collection ID 616200000000000030) but Content Support clarified that it's only for ebooks and that a journal portfolio cannot be added to it.

    Such collection should contains for example the publications of the "Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies" (see also case 06850177).

  5. Add Emerald 2023 eBook Collections

    Add the 2023 Yearly Ebook Collections as separate 360KB Databases from Emerald listed in the Book collections ZIP files here - https://www.emeraldgrouppublishing.com/how-to/librarians/toolkit/content-cataloguing-and-discovery/kbart-records

    Also if these collections could be automated to be added every year that would be even more helpful

  6. Add Archives Unbound constituent collections to Alma

    The Archives Unbound database is link in record. There are more than 200 collections within the database and we own only some of them. We have not enabled CDI for Archives Unbound because there would be too many false positives in Primo search results. As it stands, content in Archives Unbound is not discoverable for our users in Primo.
    Can you add the constituent collections as separate databases or as portfolios in the Archives Unbound collection? That way, we would be able to activate them for CDI and our users could discover them in Primo. Note that something similar has…

    The collection EBSCOHost Education Source Ultimate, Collection ID 614970000000001000, has been added to the Knowledgebases.

    Please be advised that Alma does not accommodate abstracts and TOC titles, so this collection reflects the full text titles only - 3,855 titles.

    We added a zero-title database to the knowledgebases

    AMNESTY_INTERNATIONAL_REPORTS (dbid: ANSVJ), collection ID 615400000000000620.

    The provider was not responsive so we are unable to create a collection with titles or a CDI package.
