← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  3. Add CDI coverage or portfolios for Qwest TV collection

    There is a database collection for Qwest TV, Collection ID: 615300000000000195, but the collection has no CDI coverage or portfolios. Adding CDI coverage or portfolios or both would be useful and make the content discoverable in Primo.

  9. Don't list 1science oaFindr PCI collection as open access

    Not a new collection, but a revision to an existing collection. We have activated the oaFindr PCI collection from 1science, and we've run into a problem. We noticed that the proxy string wasn't being added to these links, because it has been marked as an Open Access collection. While the full text is OA, linking passes through oaFindr, which requires authentication. So the links are not really free to read, and should not be marked as such.   11. Title: International coaching psychology review (1750-2764); Publisher: The British Psychological Society

    Currently the articles for this journal are not indexed in Summon.
    In Serials Solutions it is listed only in Ebsco databases at the moment and not in the publisher's database (British Psychologyical Society). Ebsco are not providing the required records. Can you source the content metadata, perhaps from the publisher, so that the articles can be searched in Summon, please?

    This would be a Primo Central link in record collection. Students and researchers on our campus have sought out theses and dissertations that are freely available in this repository but not part of our limited holdings through ProQuest Dissertations and Theses. Along with faculty research and conference proceedings, this would be a valuable addition to discovery tools.

    Hello,

    Following a discussion with EBSCO, we have received the below information from them regarding this request:

    I'd like to inform you that the collections provided are not databases due to which we are unable to provide title lists for these collections. These collections are available as packages in the Holdings Management knowledge base.

    The customers can log in to their EBSCO admin account and download the title list for these collections by following the steps provided in the below FAQ.

    The title lists in the Holdings Management tab can only be downloaded if the packages are selected in their holdings. Also, the title list can be downloaded in KBART format from Holdings Management.

    I am confused why it says "View record in ProQuest (subscribers only)" when clicking on this link does not bring a person primarily to a record, but to a full-text item or resource.

    I was told the text can't be changed in a Primo Code Table, or a Normalization rule set, because Primo Central records are normalized in the Primo Central back office, and cannot be edited.

    Hello,

    We have attempted to contact the vendor to address the necessary legal agreements, but have not been able to reach one since a similar request was made last year.

    HeinOnline collections are already available in 360, SFX, and Alma.

    I am closing this Idea, as we have this request pending via additional Ideas on the system as well as internally.

  20. Add Gale Videos to Serials Solutions

    Please add Gale videos to Serials Solutions so that they can be tracked.

    When I am compiling library statistics, I like to use Serials Solutions. However, the Gale collections contain over 3600+ videos and none are listed in Serials Solutions to track.
