Content

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).

How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.

The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

  1. Bibliographie der deutschen Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaften - BDSL

As university library user I would like to retrieve contents from the Bibliography of German Literature and Literary Studies (BDSL) while searching in the Summon Index. This would enrich my search results with relevant resources in the field of German studies and also give me the possibility to get this database recommended.

The Bibliography of German Literature and Literary Studies (Bibliographie der deutschen Sprach- und Literaturwissenschaften, BDSL) is the most important bibliographical database in the field of Germanic studies and German literature, covering information about publications on German language and literature since 1957 and including ca. 450.000 entries of monographs…

A number of journals have migrated off the IngentaConnect platform to Springer's Connect platform (Journal of Cognitive Psychotherapy, Violence and Victims, et al.). Ingenta does not link users to the new site. Please see http://connect.springerpub.com/ and add to collections.

    Hello all,

We have added this list of collections to our Delivery products.

As for the enrichment request, to add MARC records to the Alma CZ, at this time we have not reached an agreement with the provider to enable us to move forward with this project.
That said, we are in high-level management discussions, and should there be any change to this status, we will gladly ingest the provider’s MARC records to enrich the Alma CZ.

    Best,
    Rael

  6. A new Alma CZ authority vocabulary for the Finnish work-authority-file (case 06675712)

A request for new content ASAP, upon ExLibris suggestion (case 06675712): a new Alma CZ authority vocabulary for the Finnish work-authority-file

The National Library of Finland offers a work authority file, which is urgently needed by all Finnish Alma-libraries. As it turns out, it is not possible to add the Finnish work-authority-file into the existing Alma CZ FINAF vocabulary (due to the work-authority records and name-authority records with identical 001 fields). As a workaround, ExLibris SF support suggested (see case 06675712) adding a new Alma CZ authority vocabulary containing only the Finnish work-authority-file.

Hence, we are requesting Ex Libris to…

  9. IBISWorld

Could I suggest you add IBISWorld (www.ibisworld.co.uk) to Primo Central. This was raised as a SalesForce case on 28th September 2016 and has status Pending Work Plan. So I have closed that case and moved the request to here.

The original idea is now marked as completed - https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/574345-content/suggestions/19523596-jisc-historical-texts

However, There should be over 180,000 books in ECCO. It is ECCO parts 1 and 2. There are only 66,000 portfolios in the CZ at the moment. Can the remaining portfolios be added as a matter of urgency please?

  18. British Online Archives

Records for publications contained in British Online Archives should be added to Primo Central. The resource is published by Microform Academic Publishers and is available at https://www.britishonlinearchives.co.uk/

There are a number of collections within this resource (about 60). I am not sure whether all subscriptions offer the full range of content or whether the separate collections will need to be managed within Primo Central.

They have full-text indexing of the materials so ideally this would be available in Primo Central too.

  19. Add Cassyni (https://cassyni.com) which makes academic seminars openly available to CDI

An academic at Imperial College London has co-founded a platform called Cassyni (https://cassyni.com) which makes academic seminars openly available. It'd be very useful if the platform is added to CDI so that individual seminars regarding many journals from major publishers can be discoverable in Primo. To give you some idea what Cassyni is like I posted some links below.

It has partnered with various publishers including Elsevier, Cambridge University Press, Springer Nature and Royal Society to run seminar series for journals e.g.:

    https://cassyni.com/s/jcp
    https://cassyni.com/s/fmws
    https://cassyni.com/s/naturewater

All published seminars receive a DOI e.g.:

    https://doi.org/10.52843/cassyni.dpf4mb

  20. Knowledge Unlatched KU Select 2017

    Dear support

Since the contents of Knowledge Unlatched until KU Select 2016 successfully received a target, I hereby like to request a target for KU Select 2017 as well.

Concerning the information flow, the provider recommends Ex Libris to use the XML feed available in the KU platform (tailored for sharing metadata with distribution partners). This way Ex Libris can rest assured that they always include the latest Open Access books and future Open Access collections. Furthermore, the provider would be thankful to have a contact person at Ex Libris in order to make the inclusion of new content within…
