← Have an idea for Ex Libris?

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).


How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s). 
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.


The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

How can we improve Content?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Making the peer reviewed icon more accurate

    Articles and journals are marked with the peer reviewed icon in Primo based on information extracted from Ulrichsweb (https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Ulrich%27s/Product_Documentation/Searching/Ulrichsweb%3A_Peer-Reviewed_Refereed_Journals_and_Academic_Scholarly_Journals).
    The Peer Review indicator can only be set at the journal level at the moment. If a journal is identified as peer reviewed, or refereed in Ulrichsweb, all articles from this journal will be shown with the peer reviewed icon in Primo.
    However, not all articles in such journals are peer reviewed, meaning the icon sends the wrong information to user, and that this label is not reliable. It can further cause users to lose confidence in the system.…

  2. Add the Bridget Williams Books collections to Primo Central Index

    As a student and researcher of New Zealand materials I would like the books published by Bridget Williams Books to be indexed in Primo Central Index.

    Background: Currently the content of these collections is not discoverable in Primo. This makes it harder to discover key New Zealand content and impacts the efficiency of my study and research capabilities.

  3. Add Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) to the Summon Index

    The DPLA is listed in the Data Management tool, but does not appear to have been indexed in Summon. Could it be added?

    Most of the collections are available in the KBs.

    The missing ones are:

    1. British Library Manuscripts Part I and II
    2. Luso-Brazilian History and Culture: Oliveira Lima Library I & II
    3. Early Arabic Printed Books Religion & Law
    4. Early Arabic Printed Books Science & History
    5. Early Arabic Printed Books Christian Literature

  5. united nations : official document system

    https://documents.un.org is a precious source for everyone dealing with research on international politics and this international organization with his subsidiaries and special agencies. It would be great if you could add the content to primo central.

    Derwent Innovations Index is an very important A&I content. It is available through the ISI Web of Knowledge interface and is a Web-accessible product that merges the Derwent World Patents Index with the Derwent Patents Citation Index. It provides access to more than 14,800,000 patents with links to cited and citing patents, cited articles, and full-text patent data sources. This resource gives users a comprehensive and international overview of inventions in three categories: chemical, electrical and electronic, and engineering.

    This idea has been selected in the NERS voting process to be pursued as a new content provider.

    We will check with Lexbase if they can provide us with metadata for the Knowledgebases and CDI.

    If you can provide a direct contact with Lexbase, that would be very helpful.

  9. Could we add Art & Architecture Thesaurus Online. http://www.getty.edu/research/tools/vocabularies/aat/

    It would be great to add the AAT vocabularies to the CZ to enhance and enrich records for and about artistic endeavour.

    Unfortunately there are some delays with producing the file.

    It is no longer planned, and I apologize for misleading the community with giving a timeline.

    After a meeting with Austlit it is clear there is more efforts required for preparing the file for adding it to CDI.

    We will have more updates during the coming months and probably have a more accurate timeline during Q3.
