Content

We welcome your ideas for new content (metadata) to add to the Knowledge Bases (KBs - Alma CZ, SFX, 360) and Discovery services (CDI - Central Discovery Index whose data supports Primo and Summon).

How to increase your idea's visibility and get more votes:
  1. Check if your idea has already been posted and vote for it before posting a new idea.
  2. Choose the right category: "New Provider" for content from a provider that has no available content in the KBs or CDI, or "Existing Provider" for content from a provider that already has content available in the KBs or CDI.
  3. Add a direct link to the provider/resource you suggest, and a contact person if possible.
  4. For enrichment requests add the relevant collection ID(s).
  5. Make sure you mention any specific added value your idea has to the community such as language or supporting diversity.
  6. Did you find errors in an existing collection? please open a case.
  7. A new year has begun but no corresponding annual collection? post an idea in Idea Exchange, make sure to mention if it is an existing provider.

The categories for new content ideas are:
  1. Existing Provider - if your idea is for a new collection from a provider that already has content available in the KBs and CDI or enriching records for an existing collection, use this category. No voting is necessary, ideas for existing providers will be handled regardless of voting.
  2. New Providers - if your idea is for content from a provider that does not have any content available in the KBs and CDI, choose this category.
  3. Other - for non provider specific ideas

If you want to add an institutional repository, please open a case and follow the documentation here:

  2. 360Link usage stats for un-normalized journal titles and CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean) titles

In current specification of 360Link usage stats, admin can not get detailed journal usage stats for un-normalized journal titles from "By Title and ISSN (Journal Title)".
Especially, admins in Japan (probably Korea and China are the same),are unsatisfied with that they can not get the usage of titles they registered in Library Specific Holdings and CJK(Chinese, Japanese and Korean) titles.
I hope it would be improved.

    Hi Dana,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

It does indeed looks like we do not currently have any article-level records for the journal Decolonization: Indigeneity, Education & Society (ISSN: 1929-8692) in the Summon Index.

  7. indexing the content directly from the publisher

Would it be possible to index content directly from the provider? Primarily freely accessible journals from earlier years. I would like to see the journal Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning to display at an article indexing level in Summons. Right now only years 2000-present are displayed in the discovery layer. It does not show the years 1999-1994. Thanks!

    Hello,

We have previously discussed this collection with the provider, but there is currently no available title list that can be used to ingest in our Delivery products.
At this time we will close this request, but should a title list become available we can reconsider this request.

  10. Add a metadata correction layer for PCI

Many times when we found wrong metadata in PCI and reported to Ex Libris for correction, it took them a long time to contact the data vendors to make the corrections. Sometimes they never can get response or correction from the vendors, and the wrong metadata stayed in PCI without any changes. The wrong metadata is really misleading and cannot generate the correct OpenURLs for users to reach the full text articles. I would suggest Ex Libris to build an internal metadata correction layer for the PCI data to improve its quality. With this layer, even the vendors don't correct…

    Hello,

Following reviews and discussion with our Primo product colleagues, we will not move forward with this request.
With the shift to CDI we will be addressing all relevant changes on CDI, but also for CDI we will not be currently creating a “metadata correction layer”.
All metadata corrections are performed centrally by our Content Operations team.

    Thank you for your contribution.

    Rael

    Hello all,

CrossAsia/xasia is a third party distributor and does not hold the rights to share this metadata with Ex Libris.

For this reason we cannot proceed with this request. If there are individual providers supported by this platform that should be considered, we recommend submitting a separate request.

    Hello,

We have attempted to contact the vendor to address the necessary legal agreements, but have not been able to reach one since a similar request was made last year.

HeinOnline collections are already available in 360, SFX, and Alma.

I am closing this Idea, as we have this request pending via additional Ideas on the system as well as internally.

  16. NERS 2021 - Portico Post-cancellation/perpetual access

In 360 KB and SFX (maybe in Alma as well) there exist several databases for Portico - triggered Content.

But Portico has a supplementary offer that is called "Portico - Post-cancellation/perpetual access". This offer contains journals from various publishers where the post-cancellation access is partly not through the platform of the publisher but through Portico.

You find some information about this offer here: https://www.portico.org/for-participants/#pca

The title lists for this database can be found here: https://www.portico.org/coverage/titles/ - it includes e-journals and e-books.

I ask you to add this database to SFX and 360 KB (and Alma if it doesn't exist there…

    Hello all,

We have been in touch with Portico and they have been engaged and responsive.
At this time they are unable to supply an "all titles" list (not institution-specific), so unfortunately we cannot currently support this request.

That said, Portico have taken this feedback and will be considering internally how to address this request.
Whenever such a possibility will arise, we will gladly re-engage with Portico to create a title list as suggested here.
