Selecting multiple include/exclude facet at once.
I want to select multiple include/exclude facet at once.
Previous Summon UI, I could select several facet and apply all at once.6 votesYou'll have the ability to do this via the Advanced Search page with the planned redesign. This page will have both includes and excludes and the ability to select multiple at once.
As part of the redesign, we confirmed the More Facet pane that previously provided this functionality was vastly underutilized. Most users did not know if its existence, and if they did find it found the usability challenging.
Providing this functionality via Advanced Search will allow to provide the same benefit with user improvements and better discoverability. Users will be able to easily start with a basic search, then expand Advanced Search to apply multiple filters at once.

Revert Credo reference at Topics
Summon used to display Credo references at Topic (right pane). It looks they have gone. Please revert the feature. (IIMB)
1 voteWhile Credo is not showing up for some common topics, it is still available via Topics. We've researched to see if this is due to a recent change in Credo content, but we do not see any significant changes in the content in the last year. If you are using Credo, it's good to have a secondary source to be able to display when a Credo topic is not available.

Upload KBART Files Directly into 360 for Community Use
In order to enhance the number of databases with full title lists, I would like to be able to upload KBART files provided to us by publishers and vendors. There is a significant time lag between purchasing/licensing ebook packages from Elsevier and Springer, for example, and those books being available in 360. This has a huge impact on efficiency and patron satisfaction. We need tools to aid in maintaining efficient workflows in our current systems.
4 votesHi there,
Thanks for taking the time to submit this request for 360. I appreciate the use case and understand what you're trying to achieve. However, the 360 KB ecosystem is very tightly regulated and its tools are not designed to handle a crowd-sourcing approach like this.
The Content Team is doing a tremendous amount of work to speed up ingestion, and there is a good ELUNA session you can check out to learn more. Another thought is that you can create an LSH database using the KBART files you receive from providers.
I wanted to be sure you got your votes back in light of the new voting "season" that's beginning.
Regards,
Amy

endnote
The EndNote export format includes three very long URLs - all of which are useless. They appear in the RIS file as U5, U6 and UR. I would like the ability to remove or suppress these fields
1 voteWe will be providing shorter URLs for inclusion in exports in August 2021

Pin "Apply" button on the Facet (Summon mobile screen)
We have an improvement request about the mobile screen on the Facet of Summon.
Because the "Apply" button is fade out if the user scroll down to the bottom.
Not only this, but there are "Search" button where the "Apply" button supposed to be, and the user click "Search" instead of "Apply" unconsciously. As the result of this mis-clicking, the facet fails often, so we have a request to pin the "Apply" button on the screen even though the user scroll down to the bottom.
Please see the attachment as detail.
16 votesAs part of the facet improvements for the User Interface in the December 2021 Summon Quarterly Release, we've improved the interactions with the facet pane on Summon, eliminating the need for the Apply button.

Custom Panel Sections
Can it allow upload of image in the future?
a picture is worth a thousand words sometime.7 votesCurrently you can include an image in your custom panel using HTML. This doesn’t allow you to upload and store images on the Summon servers, but if you can host the image elsewhere you an easily include it using an image tag.

Filter search results by original research and review article
To be able to filter search results by original research and review article category from Summon search facet.

Opt out of Catalog Match-and-Merge but Keep Full-Text Augmentation
One of the most valuable features of Summon is the full-text indexing augmentation of physical collection catalog records. The feature allows discovery of many items that wouldn't be found otherwise.
Unfortunately, if a site opts out of catalog match-and-merge, it loses full-text indexing of its physical collection. I propose separating the configuration of the two features so that a site could opt out of merging its metadata with metadata from other sources but still take advantage of the full-text augmentation.
37 votesUnfortunately we researched this approach and it would have an adverse affect on indexing and performance overall. One of the goals here (from my understanding) was to keep the benefit of full text while avoiding some of the less desirable metadata (such as what shows up in the facets). We are taking approaches to solve those other problems through other methods. Please add any ideas you’d want us to be sure we’re targeting.

Publication date slider or histogram
Please would it be possible to have the option to choose between the existing slider or a histogram/graph for refining Summon search results by their publication date?
13 votesAt this time, all implementations for a histogram or graph adds significant calculation time to the rendering of the page. The amount of time this adds to the page loading can cause users to think the system is having performance issues or just time out and not render.
We will continue to review possible solutions for this as either different options are available or improved system performance allows for inclusion.

Make back button work as expected
The back button in Summon has to be pressed twice if the user wants to return to the previous site. The back button works between Summons own pages, but when backing for example to the library start page, the user has to click twice. This is a user problem. The users press the button once and then think it does not work. It is also an accessibility problem.
1 voteWhere we can address this, we have. Some of the redirects causing this behavior is beyond Summon's control, so users may still encounter this.

Have the option to download usage statistics for the number of "Report a Problem" emails sent broken down by month.
To be able to download the number of "Report a Problem" emails sent, broken down by month, in the Client Centre. This will help with problems tracking and with seeing if changes to the Summon environment have an impact on the number of "Report a Problem" emails sent.
12 votesWe do not store this information in a format that allows for reporting in this fashion.

Add scroll bar for faset column
When scroll to the bottom of the search results, it will make the facets invisible, so I would like to add a scrollbar to the facet column.
21 votesClosing, since this idea predates the recent facets redesign in Summon in December 2021.

Provide a full list of failed records with my Content Ingestion Report
As a Summon administrator at a library, I would like to fix all of the records that fail Summon ingestion because of encoding errors, etc. Current Content Ingestion Reports only send information about the first 100.

Make Summon support Baidu for search history function
Summon added search history function on May release 2018, which is great. The data is stored in Google. Unfortunately, Google is not working in China. so could you add the capability of supporting Baidu (the largest search engine vendor in China)?
Baidu supports oauth 2.0. Here is the online doc:
24 votesWe have now added SAML support for Saved Searches, and your patrons can store their searches on Ex Libris servers (rather than on Google Drive or MS OneDrive).
While this isn't specifically Baidu support, it is an authentication process that should work in any region.

Make it a higher priority to work with Ebook Central on deduplication, titles missing from Summon etc.
Some Ebook Central titles do not appear in Summon, while others appear multiple times. Some are not linked with the library's print title. Work with Ebook Central to reduce the incidence of these errors.
20 votesWe are working with Ebook Central on these issues. This is an ongoing process and will continue to work on this as necessary.

Altmetric Filter and the ability to sort search results with Altmetric Score
As often said, Altmetric does not necessarily indicate the absolute value of a paper.
However, Altmetric is an effective indicator for initial scholars to find interesting papers out of a large amount of search results.
Through Summon, if users can easily search for documents with Altmetric granted, more use and effect will be expected.14 votesOur current integration with Altmetrics does not support this at this time.

Support IPv6
Our Institution just added a few IPv6 addresses and will expect more in future, we hope Summon can support IPv6 so that our patrons can be authorized by Summon via IPV6 addresses.

Display more than 1000 records in a result
This is the most requested improvement from our faculty and graduate students. They find it frustrating that they are not able to view more than 1000 of the results.
1 voteSummon does not allow for deep paging into search results for a variety of reasons including:
1. Performance—multiple deep queries at the same time could easily overwhelm the system or allow for a Denial of Service attack.
2. Protecting content—as part of our role as stewards of the Summon Index, we need to ensure the entire contents of the index are not available for bots or other unwanted traffic to extract or mine all metadata from the index.Using facets the user should be able to reduce the number of results into less than 1000 result chunks.

The ability for Summon libraries to edit the MARC records in 360KB would be very useful

Add a Searchable Author Affiliation Index for Summon (Advanced Search)
Most commercial databases offer a searchable author affiliation index. Summon does not in the Advanced Search screen, nor is this information indexed in the Author field contents.
Since they must already have this information in their records, why not create a separate searchable index for Author Affiliation??
For our current awareness, we would like to create RSS feeds for journal articles written by professors from other engineering universities.
Thanks!
28 votesThis is a great recommendation and will require multiple steps to complete. We are currently working on improving author content within CDI including adding ORCIDs and normalizing author names, both of which would make completion of functionality such as this possible.
