How can we improve Summon?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.

    I would like Summon to have the functionality to connect to Endnote via Z39.50 allowing users to search all our resources. Currently, we can only set up a connection to our Voyager catalog in EndNote, and our Voyager catalog does not have records for all the journals and databases we subscribe to.

  2. Integrate NII's "cites/cited by" Information to Citation Trail

    NII(National Institute for Informatics) provides "cites/cited by" Information.
    https://support.nii.ac.jp/ja/cia/manual_result
    It is very desireble to integrate this "cites/cited by" information to "Citation Trail", for there is not much Japanese article information in current "Citation Trail".

  3. Enable Summon to retrieve results from Percipio (Skillsoft)

    Percipio contains eBooks, videos and online video based courses. Currently, results cannot be displayed in Summon due to Percipio not using MARC records. It was determined that an API from Percipio would contain the requisite metadata to make the materials available as results in Summon. The functionality is currently not available in Summon but it would be a useful update.

  4. Yordam automatic content update at Summon

    This is a request to have the possibility to automatically download/upload local content from Yordam to Summon rather than the librarians upload the files manually to Summon FTP. This can be done by a script and for some OPAC, this is already happening e.g, SirsiDynix automatically uploads at Summon. Can this automation be also done for Yordam?

  5. Integrate Summon with Sierra for Live Catalog Updates and Deletes

    Instead of sending the daily updates/deletes in Sierra catalog, having a process that preform this task instantly will improve the search results immediately and will free library staff to do other pending tasks

  6. Link author headings from different sources in Summon

    We want to link author headings from different sources in Summon.

    Currently, we have two styles of author headings appearing in Summon. One set comes from the bibliographic records in our local catalogue and is based on Library of Congress name authority headings (i.e. surname, first names, date of birth). The other set comes from the records in our institutional repository and uses Dublin Core (i.e. surname, initials).

    We do not want to change the data input style for either system as both headings are equally valid.

  7. Summon topics should yield Credo topics--not just Credo articles--when relevant

    For example, a Summon search on "cyberbullying" in our instance retrieves the Credo article "Taking on the School Bullies." The Credo topic page "Cyberbullying" is more relevant, but Ex Libris reports, "Showing the Credo topic page is out of scope for the topics feature."

    I would like Summon topics to retrieve Credo topics results, especially when they're more relevant than Credo article results.

  8. Print PDA

    PDA is on the increase so it is essential that Summon can integrate for both PRINT and Electronic PDA.

    Print PDA are currently records from Library Management System however Summon only links to Catalogue which is too many steps. Solution would be to link to PDA Request form directly from the Summon Record.

    We suggest integration of the RightFind API as an available feature in Summon, so that the RightFind sharing information becomes directly viewable in the Summon search result for articles, journals and books.

  10. Expanding the Credo content connected to records used by Summon Topic Explorer.

    Credo has content that should be showing up in the Topic Explorer box, but it's not because that content isn't connected to the records Summon searches for Topic Explorer content.

  13. Fix EZproxy rewriting on altmetric links

    Citation count links to Web of Science and Scopus are rewritten under an EZproxy session but links to altmetric are not.   14. Sorting results with Web of Science Citation Score

    It will be nice to sort search results with the citation score of Web of Science.
    It is also desirable as a next best practice to provide a refinement function for limiting the search results to those with WoS citation score.
