Adding a collaborator needs to assign instructor role
Faculty want to add a collaborator. They can only see users who already have the instructor role, so they can't add the collaborator. That means they have to notify the library to add the role which holds them up from their work on the list.
They should be able to search for a specific user, add them as collaborator and that should assign the instructor role (the way it does when we load courses).
Not all our reserves staff have the User Manager role, so if we have to deal with this manually we will have to give all reserve staff that role (which we don't really want to do).

Hi, Could we check whether the auto-add of instructor role for collaborators added in Alma is supposed to be in place. It doesn't seem to be working in that way, after the May 2018 release added the ability to add others (e.g. students) as collaborators, so wanted to double-check.
Related to this idea is another where clarity on the auto-assigned instructor role may assist:

I support the idea of using the "Manage Collaborator" functionality in Leganto to add additional people as the "Course Owner".
This would allow Instructors (not add the course level by the loader) to perform critical functions like "Association" without Library intervention.
We would like to have the option to determine who should be in that list - it would be great to add additional people who have the Instructor role added as Course Owners from Leganto interface but we would be less keen to see those with only the Patron role in this list.

Should also add, faculty usually want to add their staff assistants or graduate students, none of whom will import as instructors with course loads.
