  1. Move Browse bib headings and shelf listings function away from MD Editor

Currently the Browse functions stick to MD Editor. And this poses too many restrictions to browsing. Please consider making browsing easier, and make it independent from MD Editor, and instead, incorporate browsing into normal simple and advanced repository searching.

The major disadvantages of doing browsing within MD Editor are:
    1. Space constraint: the MD Editor does not have much space for results display
    2. Too many parameters to choose e.g. vocabulary, IZ vs. NZ

  2. Add Find and replace editing command to MD Editor

Please add Find and replace editing command to MD Editor. This helps a lot when editing simple corrections, and saves the time to create normalization rules if the number of bib records to correct is just one or two.

    Thanks,

  3. Making Alma Job Reports for Failed Record ("Total record not imported / deleted" ) more visible

We schedule our import profiles as much as we can. However, monitoring "failed record" is hard to follow:

When there are "records not imported" for whatever the reason, Alma's Monitor job History states "Completed Successfully" and
Import profile states: "File Processed" 100%

One has to look deeper into every scheduled Report to see if there are any "Total record not imported / deleted" and fix those faile records.

If the data of "Total record not imported / deleted" could be pulled and displayed as one of the Columns under "Monitor jobs" - monitoring staff will only need to check reports…

  5. Mark suppressed record in Alma when suppressBibWithSuppressedHold is set to true and is deleted the last holding record.

If parameter Configuration Alma - Resources - Other settings suppressBibWithSuppressedHold is set to true, when deleting the holding record, if this is the last one, the bibliographic record is not visible in the Discovery but the record is visible in Alma (does not have the eye strikethrough).

It is not logical that you have to go manually to the MD Editor to show in Alma that this record will be hidden in Primo.

If we must manually mark hiden bibliographic record in Alma (eye strikethrough), the suppressBibWithDeletedHold parameter has no use because the task is incomplete in Alma.

  6. Export suppression status

When exporting a list of titles to Excel, it would be helpful if a title's suppressed status was exported along with the rest of the title's information. Currently, there is a visual indicator in Alma if a title is suppressed or not, but that doesn't seem to translate over when exported. Since we often work with large lists of titles and there's no way to sort itemized sets, we need to be able sort through them effectively in Excel.

  7. Easier Removal from Large Itemized Sets

It would be helpful to be able to search within itemized sets and then remove undesired items in those search results. Right now the only way to find an item to remove from an itemized set is to browse through the set which can be unwieldy for large sets.

This search functionality (by title, ISSN and ISBN) already exists in other areas of Alma such as displaying a portfolio list for an electronic collection.

  8. Hyper link POL in the holdings list

In the list of holdings of a BIB record, the PO Line is indicated, but it is not linked. It would be practical to have a hyperlink to get to the POL directly. The linking under "more actions" is not always very useful, because you get a list of all POL - if you have many POL for a journal, you need to remember the POL of the holding you're interested in. A hyperlink would make work easier.

  9. Display all work orders when binding items

When I want to bind two items together, there is a screen which allows me to pick a work order type. But in this screen, only work orders that have been defined on the institution level are displayed. Work orders on library level are not displayed and therefore can't be chosen.

Solution: Display all work order types when binding items.

We want to create a work order type on library level for our binding workflow.

  11. Collection Discovery should support Bookshelf (Shelf List) Browse

Collection Discovery is a nice feature in Alma, but it would be much better if it could be a virtual bookshelf browse tool of new titles in user defined disciplines.

Currently, Collection Managers can create collections of titles based on titles sets or title by title additions, but titles within these collections are displayed to users in random order, not as a meaningful collections, and with limited bibliographic information appearing.

  14. Change Alma so that holdings information in angle brackets < > displays in all views.

The only place that holdings information in angle brackets < > displays is in the edit function. Angle brackets are ANSI standard punctuation, and we have used them in many holdings records. This information does not display in index screens in Alma or Search It, thus making it difficult for users to accurately interpret our holdings. Please change Alma so that information in angle brackets < > displays in all views.

It would be very useful to be able to print select records from Alma search results by checking off records to print. Printing off records is a necessary part of maintaining tangible collections. One can often find superseded SuDoc publications while searching the IZ by SuDoc stem when adding new SuDoc publications.
