Another thought, the ability to map to multiple content types may be a way to resolve this. We have print and electronic on the same record in our ILS and need to choose whether to map to eBook or Book because Summon can only handle one -- this inhibits the ability to separate them when searching too. Also want to re-stress -- the ability to distinguish print/electronic feature should extend to all content types.

That said, I would like to be able to do this more generally for all content types. So rather than having separate content types for "video recording" and "video streaming" you would just have video and then the option for physical or online. This could apply to books, music, audio and more. I guess when RDF is in place .... one can dream.

This may be to do with the way we've mapped our MARC records, but we exclude ebooks by selecting our library locations. See our custom search box at https://www.griffith.edu.au/library and select the Books radio button. There is the pull down for print only, electronic only and both.

I would like to see this extended to the saved items folder as well, so that logged in users can save items as well as searches.

This sounds like it is possible by creating a hidden panel as per https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Summon/Knowledge_Articles/What_kinds_of_things_can_a_library_put_in_Summon_Custom_Panels%3F

Though not sure if it works on mobile...

We'd like to see holdings for electronic resources too. So rather than saying eJournal: Full Text Online, you'd see all the platforms and years. Something like:

eJournal: PubMed Central [Holdings: 1840 to 19/07/2008]
eJournal: ProQuest Central [Holdings: 30/06/2008 to 70 days ago]

See this related idea about pulling the A-Z from LibGuides too.

    https://ideas.exlibrisgroup.com/forums/564566-summon/suggestions/17452201-integrate-libguides-database-a-z-list-into-summon

There is an A-Z database list in the EJP too. The reason why we don't use the EJP list is because the collection in Intota don't necessarily match up with what we advertise as a database. We don't want all these in our list, just one link to Wiley!

    -Wiley Online Library All Backfiles
    -Wiley Online Library All Journals
-Wiley Online Library Analytical Science Backfiles
    -Wiley Online Library Aquaculture Backfiles
    -Wiley Online Library Biology Backfiles

We would also want to be able to manage subject classification for the databases ourselves, not relying on HILCC (which is the other problem with the EJP implementation).

We have customised our library home page search box as a work around, but it would be nice to be able to have the landing screen consistent with the limits we've put on our homepage.

Also, the recommendation is limited to two, but we'd like to be able to link out to a longer list so that we didn't have to maintain our other system....

We use the database recommender in Summon, but also the Database A-Z list in LibGuides. There is quite a bit of work in maintaining both. I think we'd happily give up on the LibGuides Database A-Z if the database options (particularly browsing by subject) in Summon were better. So I agree with the rationale behind this idea, though I can see there are many ways to get a good outcome.
